“Almost 60 acres. 530 x 450 meters in size. Created in an evening of August, 2009, at the province of Zeeland, Netherlands, it’s the biggest “crop circle” ever created. And with a twist.
Everything was recorded in video, as this was definitely a very human creation. To be more exact, a creation of 60 humans captured in its process from concept to realization by the cameras of the reality TV show “Try Before You Die”.
The culprits are the members of XL D-Sign team, which has been creating fantastic formations for more than ten years – many of which are promoted as “mysterious” to this day. This latest one, the biggest one to date, was properly named project Atlas, and aimed not only to break the size record but also depict “a message of both the beauty and vulnerability of man”.
The gigantic formation can be interpreted in several ways, from the metamorphosis of a butterfly, to the Vitruvian Man, to Mothman and perhaps even chakras. All part of a human symbology, with a human message, created by humans to humans, surpassing in size every crop circle ever created.”

It would have been much better if they had kept silent about it until the wackos had had time to dowse the crop circle to “prove” it was genuine and could not have been created by humans overnight.
I for one welcome our new moth-men overlords
Nah – this was created by aliens; I’m sure of it.
Hey, it’s Arthur!

That’s awesome – sorta humans wishing for Avatar within themselves. I like it.
wow, its beautiful. interesting that the group responsible decided to record the whole process instead of continuing to allow people to believe it was some form of contact from an alien lifeform! maybe now people will start seeing crop circles for what they really are.
thanks team DB, keep up the excellent blogging!
xx
Nice.
I always wonder how much a farmer will get for these type of projects.
It’s a sign from mothman – he’s back! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothman
Quick, get the tin foil helmets!
Jaw-droppingly beautiful creation by these people. And a very lovely message.
Peace, people.
arthur as in “the tick”? he looks a lot better in that picture! :0
Nazca lines in this month natgeog mag. Wonder if Danny Dyer is on for another UFO show.
Wow! it looks just like the ones those aliens do!
Haha, the first thing I thought of was the monarch, from the cartoon the venture bros! but i guess if that were him it would have a crown, doh! that would be awesome advertising though
Has anyone here read about what characteristics whackos look for in identifying a crop circle as not man-made? If you haven’t you might be surprised as to what distinguishes those determined to be man-made and those as unexplained formations. Complexity doesn’t play a major role.
Excuse me for being so “needy” and perhaps “crazy”.
But where is this mysterious video that proves these people made the crop circle? I’ve been looking all around for it, I can’t find anything. They also claim without proof they’ve done all these other crop circles, and yet all they show is prints of their concepts and a picture of the crop circle on some paper, with a little description of what the crop circle supposedly means.
They can provide all of this which means nothing, but they can’t record the actual making of the crop circle? I could be stupidly wrong, and there might be a video of this creation, but, uh, sorry – if they genuinely don’t have a video, you’ve all been fooled.
Jo,
I’m sorry, you give them far too much credit. As the below site shows (if it’s allowed, if not google winged man crop circle or butterfly crop circle).
http://mayanprophecy2012.blogspot.com/2009/09/butterfly-crop-circle-netherlands.html
Just realised that if you look closely, it kind of looks like Da Vinci’s ‘Vitruvian Man’ with added butterfly wings. Da Vinci Code 2????
I think people in general are scared of crop circles for the following reasons:
1) the faithful fear having their faith challenged
2) the rationals fear being thought of as gullible
I won\’t bother to discuss 1 because I\’m an athiest and I cannot be bothered arguing with inherently irrational people.
The rationals – rationality is housed in scientific methodology – proof. We have no proof they are alien-made – kind of like we have no proof there is a god. However, we have a tangible item, not miracles or post-life promises, that needs a scientific explanation. I just don\’t understand how in 40 years I cannot locate 1 decent video that adequately shows them being made by men.
We only need 1 circle to be considered irrefutably genuine to concede that chances are good that we are not alo
How gullible can you be? The facts here are not correct. In the video mentioned it is stated that 100 people allegedly worked on this while at the xldsign site you’ll read 60 people? This video is obvious claptrap because it does not show anything of the alleged creation, just some folks with stomp boards in the dark.
xldsign is not spoken of anytime during the video. Very cleverly made but hardly convincing, it lasts
about 6minutes only and shows absolutely nothing. xldsign did not even bother to post it at their own site.
Says it all I’d say. Check this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XsBKQpydHU
