“Bottled fresh air from some of the country’s favourite beauty spots is being given out to stressed city workers by the National Trust.
The air, which was collected from seaside and rural areas around the UK, comes in several scents, including the seaside smell of Townend, and the lakeside aroma of Windermere in Cumbria.
Other aromas include the grass-filled air of Stourhead in Wiltshire, and woodland scents from Box Hill, Surrey.
Three-quarters of UK workers (74 per cent) claim that they feel stressed on a daily basis, but 70 per cent say that escaping from the city makes them feel instantly relaxed, according to a National Trust study.
The most relaxing activity was a walk with a breath of sea air, according to 72 per cent of those surveyed, with 66 per cent saying that a walk in the country air was the best stress reliever.
But 59 per cent of people said a breath of fresh air of any kind was enough to reduce their stress levels.
With this in mind, the National Trust came up with a natural solution for city workers across the country. Each 454gram recycled glass jar of air can relieve stress for 10 minutes, they claim.”

It seems like you would need some kind of face mask or something, or you open the jar and then all the good air mixes with the bad air, haha
How far will quacks go? And how far medias are willing to follow them?
Even if it was effective, how backward it is: wouldn’t it be better to look for solutions on what causes stress instead?
Air is good, especially the Oxygen part, not the urea. Better than a cigarette break.
Hi Derren, Went to see your show on Friday 12th At Hull New Theatre. I’ve got too thank you for amazing me and my girlfriend and for such a brilliant show. Ive never seen anything like it. Can’t wait to see you again soon. Keep up the good work.
I tell you what it shouldn’t be allowed… coming out here stealing our good countryside air. You wanna live in the city and be stressed that’s your choice bur don’t come round here nabbing my oxygen. Ooo Arrrr
Stop therapy! All not necessary anymore now that the bottles arrived!
Hahaha!
Stress at work normally comes from their colleagues, and all other people they encounter via their work, incl. all rules and such attached to their job. And the fact that they can not see it inside the way they prefer to be inside, like at home. But when they would have to stay at home 40 hrs a week during the day time they’d start to change some structures as well.
Some will feel less stressed in a city than on a beach or in the country. Pretty personal, these things.
Surely, the only way this can work is if they use a pressurized tin. No wonder everyone in the country is ‘stressed’ when every industry or business is ‘grossly understaffed’….its official…the world has gone mad…
Kind of reminds me about the Perri Air scene from the great Mel Brooks classic Spaceballs =)
Would need a whole oxygen tank for my work!! Xxxxxxxxxxxx
this sounds like the greatest money-making scam since bottled water!
Inspired by the Air Wick Aqua Mist advert…
So how much are they going to charge for these empty bottles? A lot, probably. It’s just like the bottled water scam; the label says ‘Spring water from the Scottish Highlands’ so you can expect ‘Water poured from a tap in Scotland’.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it really does work…in the same way popping a sugar pill would.
Or perhaps a quick walk outside.
Or a trip to the library.
Or some deep breathing exercises.
Or watching a few minutes of a funny video on Youtube.
The point is, the reason this reduces stress is because somebody is telling you to stop for a moment and do something other than the thing that is stressing you out. Thus allowing the brain to reset a little and giving the adrenaline that causes it time to subside….
Spaceballs, oh sh*t there goes the planet.
If anyone is interested I can bag up some of this Montana wind for a low introductory price of 19.99 but don’t buy yet I will also throw in…
Sure I read Catherine Zeta Jones gets some flown from Wales.
Working in my stuffy office environment, a breath of anything remotely like fresh air would be most welcoming!
And I’m lucky in that I don’t have far to go to breathe some real, proper sea air living on the Southern coast as I do. I’m just thankful they sorted out the horrendous seaweed problem we once had here (which could actually be smelt for miles). I’m not sure anyone would fancy that sort of air being bottled, cos you’d die as soon as you opened the bottle!

Do they have bottled monster munch?
