“9/11 and Kennedy aside, no event in world history has generated quite so many conspiracy theories than the Apollo moon landings. But do they stand up? Here are the best reasons why it couldn’t have happened, and the rebuttals. Of course, you may disagree.”

None of those answered the question that I saw raised on a t.v. show when I was a kid (I also saw this brought up in the comments.) There’s crosshairs that are visible in the pictures, but apparently some of the pictures impossibly have items that overlap the crosshairs as if they were inserted (poorly) into the image. I didn’t ever think or consider any of the other ten things they brought up.
I didn’t see the crosshairs of the pictures brought up. When I was younger I saw a t.v. program that mentioned that the crosshairs of the lenses apparently were overlapped by objects that were in the pictures, as if someone poorly inserted them. Though I’m not saying I think we didn’t go to the moon (I wasn’t born to see it!)
Don’t worry too much Steve, all “evidence” that this and many other moon landings are a hoax is all very circumstantial and cherry picked. It’s okay to believe in what really happened. Further viewing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA97P5D-y7M
I’m not really sure why Derren Brown’s blog is linking to a year-old Independent feature however. Bloody Illuminati
After reading a Big Issue article (many moons ago) I still say we never went. From the prop rock to flag and footprint surely if they had done it once then both America and Russia would have numerous footage.
Meh, couldn’t be bothered. They landed, the science is all there.
But Kennedy being lumped in with this one which is a bit of a joke, that’s absurd. In that case the science finds it impossible for Oswald to have been guilty, or in the least acted alone and to have been the one to have fired the fatal bullet. Three bullets, the fatal one hitting him from the front (while Oswald was positioned behind him), and this mystery bullet that defies all physics by entering 2 individuals numerous times at zigzagging angles? That doesn’t belong in the pile of conspiracies, that belongs in a pile of lies imposed upon citizens from the highest office.
Steve, I think that the question about crosshairs isn’t reported because it’s a very minor one, and really easily dismissed. Whoever uses that to support the hoax theory has really poor arguments in his/her hand.

B: how is it a year old? The dateline says ‘monday april 12, 2010′…

Occam’s Razor, anyone?
a) They went, all the ‘inaccuracies’ are easily explained with a modicum of science knowledge, and there is a wealth of evidence to support this (moon rocks in museums, lunar laser ranging (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Laser_Ranging_experiment), independent tracking of the spacecraft, etc., etc.)
or
b) The whole thing was faked, and not one of the thousands of people involved has ever come forward and blown the whistle.
And spiderabc1, if you’re getting your scientific reporting from the Big Issue, god help you.

@Tony. The Big Issue can be a great read! I am just not convinced. And there is no god!
Cant we just point our telescopes to the landing site and have done with it…?
@spiderabc1
There’s plenty of footage aside from the heaps of other evidence such as the lunar samples, telemmetry, and thousands of technical documents many of which are available online at http://ntrs.nasa.gov.
A good place to start would be the Apollo Flight Journal http://history.nasa.gov/afj
Even if it doesn’t convince you – and I hope it will – it’s damn interesting stuff!
@RobDog Cheers for the link. I follow NASA on twitter and it’s amazing what they do. I have also just enjoyed another Big Issue article on the great man himself aka Derren Brown!
well done Tony. Thanks to the ‘modicum of science knowledge’ you have, you have proven that the Russians have landed on the moon!! You must be very proud. Given that the Russians have their own laser reflectors, and moon rocks, that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they had MEN on the moon. Some might say that they used a probe to accomplish that feat but don’t listen to em Tony. Your modicum of Science knowledge will prove them wrong. Those two things are the ‘wealth of evidence’ that will protect you. Given Gene Kranz, the Nasa Fight Controller admitted that even he himself (or his entire team) had no way of telling the difference between a real mission and a training exercise? If there was a hoax, the guys at mission control knew as much as the rest of the sheep…
