Sorry, couldn’t make it past the minute mark of that. I really hope that these kids get the opportunity in their schools (if they are lucky enough to go to one rather than being “home-schooled”) to learn that what this deluded nut said to them was a pack of lies.
Do the concepts of radiocarbon dating mean nothing to these idiots. I mean, the kids have just been indoctrinated, it isn’t their faults. But fucking hell.
Aargh!! No speakers on the work computer! I have taught a lesson in a Catholic school and thought that was bad, what with the Mary and jesus stuff around, but this…looks disgusting. Just how can people get away with this? And the parents? More Aargh! Derren should get the toddler groups together for mass education. Perhaps a just before Halloween do to help promote the book? best get to a pc with speakers so I can be further horrified.
This would be hilarious as a parody but in reality its worrying. All schools of thought, including atheistism, have their extremists, but indoctrinating young and vunerable children in this way is on a par with Nazi Germany. I would like to think it is the preserve of the uneducated, because, as the lady halfway through pointed out, its easier to teach your kids what the bible says rather than try to understand and convey the more complex science. But I’m not sure this is entirely the case. As someone who used to lecture about evolution, I was constantly amazed by the misconceptions even supposedly intelligent people have about the topic. Such misconceptions make it easier to peddle rot like this.
what unbelievable and blatant brainwashing of children, refuting dinosaurs existence is ridiculous and extremely narrow minded, clearly for people who have a limited IQ who aren\’t able to understand how science works and how the techniques that have allowed us to evolve to the point where we have such huge technological and medical advances are possible. very sad to see that people are allowed to brainwash kids in this way and simultaneously destroy their belief in what has allowed us as a species to get to where we are now. i do not necessarily think there is anything wrong with believing in god, indeed some scientists choose to, i do, however, see something wrong with refuting scientific fact.
Well that’s infallable isn’t it? Thank goodness we all heard it direct from God, and not via some fable that got written down and manipulated and badly translated for centuries. Else I might have some doubts…
Argue against that you pesky scientists… with your evidence
There is no law when it seems to come to religion. From learning this stuff to protecting paedophiles. The Church and Religion seem to be above the law.
I wonder if Bush believed in Creation or Evolution.
Catchy song –
“Behemoth is a dinosaur, chief in the ways of God,
Behemoth is a dinosaur, a mighty sauropod!”
Take that, Rufus Wainwright.
No surprises for me- I went to a church school, my sister was in the Salvation Army. They used ‘follow me’ type games to encourage group coherence and shared identity before teaching mythology to ensure a maximum brainwashing effect.
No scientist ever told me to acccept their lessons without question.
Boo hoo for the lovely children and the loss of curiosity.
“Propaganda” is when you disagree with the message and “education” is when you agree. No actual science or knowledge needs be in the mind of the person making the distinction!
a) Having studied Creationism for the past few years (presumably, unlike the poster of this video), it is clear that it offers the best scientific explanation for life on earth.
b) The evidence is in the *present* and you can come up with any age you like for the earth based on the *assumptions* you make.
c) The ‘millions of years’ age of the earth idea came from a totally ridiculous *belief* called uniformitarianism. It was added to with more false suppositions and over the past two centuries, this myth has become ‘truth’.
That song brought back horrible flash backs of primary school *shudder*
I think it’s perfectly reasonable to teach children about religion and Creationism, just so that they can be aware of those things, and make their own decisions about what they believe in…….But that was just CREEPY!
I expect these kids parents dress up in a jesus costume and creep into their children’s rooms at night and answer their prayers. It’s going to be a heartbreaking day when they discover the truth about Santa….I mean jesus!
the world was created in 7 days!! hahahaha…. seriously do you believe that?
Just watch out for those priests, lieing to your kids and molesting them as soon as they get a chance!! I dont believe it logical to base your past and future on one book written by a old old cult to ensure that people live a a respctable and structured life….
How many bibles?
how many sientific books on evolution?
This is dire. It’s terrifying how many parents would be so willing to subject their children to this.
Probably relevant to note here that in the last UK parliament, 584 MPs described themselves as having no political interest in science. (New Scientist article, 22 April 2010)
Parents talking about evidence from out of the bible while it is 99.9% obvious they have never ever looked into what evolution means for real…sad sad sad sad kiddies, they don’t even get the chance to look the other way or compare …this is pure indoctrination. Harmfull!
No matter what you “believe” or what you book says… the carbon decay formula is fairly precise… I bet the get their science from the same college Pat Robertson got his geology class. This is brainwashing.
Talk about brain-washing !That woman said it was easier to tell her kids that the world was made in 6 days by God than to explain about evolution!!Taking the easy way out,I think.Let’s hope that nonesense never catches on in British schools.Children just end up “parroting “what the adults tell them anyway.Very disturbing.
Watched the show at Blackpool last night, was truly an excellent show Derren, well done. I thought the second half was better than that first and the finale was spectacular, I’d definately recommend anyone to go see it if they haven’t already…without giving away an secrets of the show, its really something a bit different and certainly a bit special.
Strangely for a Tuesday morning spent in the office I was in quite a good mood today – not so much any more.
\”God said it – I believe it – that settles it!\” Well there\’s a nice logical, supportable argument… and I\’m quite a big fan of religion, just not this side of it!
When I see things like this it takes me back to being at Catholic school, when as young as age 5 we sang hymns with upbeat melodies and brainwashing lyrics such as:
‘Follow me, follow me, leave your home and family’ or
‘When is he coming, when oh when is he coming, the Redeemer!’
Looking back now I feel a bit sick at how cult-like it was, and sorry for the children still being indoctrinated at schools across the world.
Looking at this reality, spending the first part with a hand sloaped across your forehead in disgust and four minutes of eyebrow raising and disappointment… ehm
@ Stuart Cowan Sorry, Creationism offers the best scientific explanation for life on earth??? According to Genesis, the world was made in 7 days…but the sun and the moon (which you need in order for there to be an actual ‘day’,) were only created on the 4th day!
a) Creationism is not a science, it is a religious belief, rooted in a literalistic interpretation of the Book of Genesis which is itself not a scientific text but a theological one.
b) We all live in the *present*, yourself included. The methodology used to determine the age of the Earth is compliant with results, not assumptions.
c) The age of the Earth has been determined by Radiometric Dating which, again, deals in outcomes rooted in results, not assumptions. The Bible came from a totally ridiculous *belief* called \’Christianity\’. It was added to by more false suppositions over the past two millenia and sadly this collection of fables has been misrepresented as \’history\’
Meh. The smart kids will throw it off and rebel against their parents’ wingnuttery in good time.
The dumb kids would grow into dumb adults who find this crap themselves. Seen that too.
The same kids are being indoctrinated to never have sex because Jebus says not to. Check out the religious background of most of the pregnant fifteen-year-olds. They ain’t Unitarians.
Force-feeding lies to kids — about sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll, or dinosaurs — backfires more often than not.
Aside from the Ozzie accent, this guy sounds just like the anti-drug propagandist who had kids in tears when he evangelized my junior high. The ones who were most hysterical were the ones getting stoned on the loading dock a year later.
Despite the fact that I am a Christian, I still think is is wrong to condition children at an early age, and the prospect that people do this is purely wrong.
If creationism is a sc ientific explanation, they should allow it to be discussed and examined in a scientific manner without recourse to circular logic and with no reference to documents like the bible.
Science = questions and proof.
Theory and counter-theory.
Evidence.
Logic (not Common Sense, who is a distant, unfavoured cousin of Logic and gets shunned at the rationalist dinner parties that Logic attends).
It IS propaganda. it does not pass the test for ‘scientific, provable truth’.
In fact, it passes the ‘proven to be lies’ test and should never be taught in this way to children.
Human knowledge (AKA science), obtained over six thousand years of cultural exchange and scientific experimentation, should not be discarded so flippantly.
If you look at stewart cowan’s website above- (click on his name) , you will see where he comes from, so to speak. Fanatical christian homophobe would be an understatement… almost as yuk as the video.
As for the video, I couldn’t get past a minute either – it needs some kind of context, like who posted it and where and how many poor children are being abused in this way etc
This video makes me feel really sorry for those children. The only reason why several of them said they didn\’t believe in evolution was because the funny man with the guitar who was singing the songs said so. They\’re young, impressionable kids; most of them will believe what an adult, especially their parents, say!
I actually remember watching a video in school when I was around seven or eight, and it was telling the story of creation. I was quite happy sitting there on the carpet with the rest of my classmates, when I actually realised that there were no dinosaurs mentioned in the video. Yes, I was quite happy looking at the lions and horses that were being \”created\” by God, however, I put my hand up and asked my teacher why there weren\’t any dinosaurs in there. He didn\’t answer!
Notice how science is finally being debated now a Creationist has turned up! Otherwise, it’s all knee-jerk faux horror reactions to the ‘brainwashing’.
@Pablo Robles
Radiocarbon dating, again is based on assumptions, but C14 has a short half-life, so dating millions of years is outside its scope. When you account for the global Flood with its accompanying volcanic activity, then you can understand how the carbon balance has not always been the same.
Is evolution taught in schools not just Atheist propaganda? We all know that the science behind it isn’t infallible, only more tangible in some ways than a creationist point of view.
I am a christian so I am biased, but aren’t we ‘indoctrinating’ children the opposite way if we only teach them evolution in schools? To me, common sense dictates that children should have as much information of science and all religions as possible to make their own choices. This obviously isn’t feasible within the current education system.
Words often fail me when Christianity comes under such attack – if you are an atheist, that’s your choice, but I strongly doubt that you will encourage your children to consider religion.
a) Creation science is science based on the assumption that the Genesis account (and many other accounts) is correct, whereas evolutionary theory is based on the assumption that the processes we see on earth today have always been thus and there was therefore no global flood or asteroid strikes, etc.
Same evidence, two different starting points. As I have already pointed out, the long age theory was based on the false notion of uniformitarianism.
b) and c) Not at all. ALL dating methods are based on assumptions. ALL!
its always been out there. It will always be there. You cant fight this sort of thought process. I am a Christian but I also understand science and data. Hugh Ross for one has written several books that successful combine science and Christianity. I know this thread has mainly responses from atheists and I appreciate that. I have chosen a path of faith and religion. So consider me crazy. (( I did recently purchase a dinosaur toy to put in my manger scene for my friends that assume I am nuts ) But.. the video here just points to a segment of Christianity. A small segment. A small segment that gets smaller with knowledge. This sort of belief tends to crumble away quickly upon education. Let’s face it.. there was a time when most of us believed or at least wanted to believe in santa
That would be funny if the kids didn\’t believe it. I think it\’s a great shame that kids aren\’t taught an unbiased version of the whole creationism/evolution debate. I think anyone with half a brain can see that evolution makes much more sense and there\’s so much more evidence. Ah well, such is life.
Oh now that’s cringe worthy.
Why do people feel the need to bombard you with THEIR beliefs, especially stooping so low as to brainwash children.
It’s pathetic
I would like to point that most Christians also believe in evolution (at least in the UK). I\\\’d also like to ask the people shown that if you\\\’re going to take all of Genesis as literal truth/history, then which of the two different versions of creation do you use? That\\\’s right you say you believe two contradictory \\\”accounts\\\” that run straight from one into the other.
These people do more harm to Christianity than Richard Dawkins could hope for (not that I\\\’ve any issues with him).
Interesting that there are people out there that preach this stuff. I am currently remembering your video you did on instant conversation. These guys are replacing the thought of evolution with the thought of creation through God. Using Yes ladders, on children..what a shame
Creationism doesn’t require its adherents to ask questions about the world around them, or form hypotheses in order to test ideas. It is a system of incoherent beliefs dictated in an authoritarian manner in order to control from the top down, nothing more. I have met Ken Ham and attended one of his lectures at Beford Corn Exchange in the 1990s. His incoherent argument was the same then as it is in this video. A wilful mis-reading of ‘On The Origin of Species’ – the first edition, which Darwin corrected upon publication, too. I hope that the children receive an education where they at least develop the ability to question and the tools to perform research in order to arrive at their own conclusions.
“God” created a perfect world?
Where tsunami and earthquakes kill people. Where good people get cancer and other dreadful diseases and suffer appallingly.
Hmmmm – Perfect indeed! – “God” indeed!
Let’s hope those kids get their hands on a bit of science!
Hopefully, someone will actually tell them what science is soon. Actually, I would have loved to have been there. “Who should we trust?” “Science!” “What did you learn today?” “What a load of bollocks that was.”
But, yeah, I’m sorry kids but it will get better. Maybe.
Radioactive dating uses a variety of substances. Carbon is useful for some purposes and not for others due to its half-life. Interestingly enough, the various substances used for such dating support each others’ results. If carbon had drastically alteredd due to a global flood, then so would every other substance, in very specific ways, in order to account for what you seem to think of as an illusion that they all agree on the same dating. Additionally, evolutionary science certainly accepts massive events such as asteroids and mass extinctions, and even different oxygen levels throughout the development of life on Earth.
The dating methods used in evolutionary science certainly assume that time passes. I hope you’re not disputing this?
It is unfair towards these children of being brainwashed in such a way that they don’t even get the chance from this so called “speaker” to view these statements of life from other angles, whether these statements are ridiculous or not.
Unfortunately on the other hand, it is also so, modern-day-science doens’t take any of these religious concepts as a contextual possible reality. There are only a few people who dare to look at both sides and thereby show respect and mostly having an unexplainable urge to look for links between both ends of the spectrum.
This guy is giving the perfect example of letting your life depend on 1 solution, while life itself is one the greatest and intriguing secrets to investigate.
Science without religion is lame,
Religion without science is blind.
to me it just seems that creationism is about as sientific as the earth being flat and in the center of the galaxy…
also im with paul on the part of wich of the two stories of creation is true when the clearly contradict each other.
Not many people want to discuss science & instead stick to ad hominem (or ad haminem?) attacks.
It tells me who the indoctrinated are. They don’t talk about science because they know little or nothing about it.
@ScreamingGreenConure,
All radio dating methods require the same assumptions, such as constant rates of decay, the starting amount of the radioactive isotopes and that nothing has been lost or added and there *are* cases of wildly differing results from the same samples using different methods.
“Creationism doesn’t require its adherents to ask questions about the world around them…”
I was an evolutionist until five years ago because I was conditioned to believe it without question like you.
Remember that the public generally only gets to hear about the results that look neat and tidy and fit in with the Theory. Most scientists only get funding by sticking to the status quo.
If evolutionary scientists are uncomfortable about considering alternative views which can be backed up with evidence, then they aren’t really scientists, as they are supposed to let the facts do the talking, rather than their prejudices.
It’s like Einstein saying that there is nothing to add to Isaac Newton\’s observations.
This is extremely scary. I hate seeing children being brainwashed. This style of proselytising does not allow for discussion, debate or dissent. It is not the way to teach children anything, let alone get them to think or find out for themselves. Kids deserve better than this.
This is so normal to me. I attended Southern Baptist Churches in Virginia and North Carolina off-and-on for the first 30 years of my life. It’s funny to me that most people commenting are so shocked by this. That said, I am not a believer anymore. I wonder how may people sitting in the pews are doubters like I was. When I started to express my doubts, I was surprised that, in confidence, many women told me that they doubted too. I think people just go-along-to-get-along. You just get shut out so quickly if you question anything openly. It’s all such and in-group/out-group thing, and that makes it hard to completely leave.
And Fear. Fear is a motivating factor here. Some of these people, like that mother in the video, think they are saving these kids from hell. Indoctrination is good in their logic, because if you train up a child in the way he should go, he will not depart from it. To save a child from hell is the ultimate good, so you never ever want him to question.
My 10 year old was in the room when I watched this earlier and she was convinced. I head to break out the book and read the passages in Job, and she then was able to see that the text is ambiguous, and that the following passage appears to describe a fire breathing dragon (or, if your really generous, a Komodo).
Ken Ham’s talks are made to children that are already in the faith, it is within the rights of parents to educate there children in there religion. It is a program in to US, were there is a education in evolution in every public school, and in most religious schools. Ken Ham’s talks give an armament for creation based on reason. His gives children and adults a different view and a choice in there beliefs. I believe that is a good thing. No one is forced to attend Ham’s talks it is a choice. I walked out of may program’s of this nature as a child, both secular and religious, that only thing force on me was a adult escort back to my parents so they could take responsibility of me.
The above video is heavily basis and heavily edited. I think most of us are in agreement that when a TV medium does that it is highly unlikely, highly improbable that the output reflects the truth in the matter. This video should be given the same benefit of the doubt. This is a short chip of a longer film as another poster pointed out. And many of Ken Ham’s talks can be viewed for free on the web, I would encourage you to view at least one before you judge him, it is only fair. I am a creationist and have listened to Mr Dawkins before I made an opinion him I did not just go on second or third hand accounts. Edited information is second hand at the least in spoken, video or any other form.
“Radiocarbon dating, again is based on assumptions, but C14 has a short half-life, so dating millions of years is outside its scope. When you account for the global Flood with its accompanying volcanic activity, then you can understand how the carbon balance has not always been the same.”
It’s unlikely that a physicist has ever used C14 measurements to date the Earth or dinosaur fossils, as it is widely known that C14 has a half-life on the order of 5000 years, making it useless for measurements above a few 10^4 years. No scientist would ever dispute this. But POTASSIUM dating is used in geological dating. This has a half-life of ~1.3 billion years, making it ideal for this purpose.
I agree with so many of the prior comments. Namely I literally felt like vomiting while watching this. The reason being that this is indeed child abuse. I believe people have the right to question Evolution or science in general, but no one has the right to rob children of their ability to observe the world and make choices about their lives. The only possible good I can imagine that can come from this is to illustrate that the erroneous call that Islam is by nature more extremist and fanatical than \”our\” religions is obviously wrong. Brainwashing cannot be permitted by any totalitarian regime whether governmental or ideological. Christians should be the first to denounce these people. Scary, scary stuff.
All a matter of perspective I guess. I consider the first world education system to be far, FAR more controlling and manipulative than this stuff. This video is very overt, but both manipulate people’s minds by abusing positions of authority. The problem is that all this is perpetuated by people who believe they are acting in the best of interests, so logical argument is resisted and cannot work.
The only point of any relevance is how we bring this cycle of domination and abuse to and end, once and for all so people are truly free to become fully human again.
What plan is required for true change? An answer exists, waiting to be found.
HAHA its funny that the guy say there is no way we evolved from the Apes
because the first thing i thought when i saw him was that he kinda looks like an ape, lol
And that is why I took my children out of the “Religion In Life” lesson at school here in Australia. The turgid prose and the sub-South Park standard stick-figure illustrations were bad enough but when I noticed the colouring-in sheet about how God Made Butterflies it was the last straw.
Pas: He’s right on that count, though. We didn’t. We evolved from a common ancestor, which is why we share so many genes and traits. Well, either that, or the creationists’ god wasn’t very creative when it came to genetics, and built humans and chimps on the same template.
On a general note, hello warring parties, who came up with the idea that discounting evolution offers proof of creation? Evolution seems like a fairly sound theory to me, but even if someone managed to disprove it (on a larger scale, presumably, since it would be kind of hard to argue against bacteria evolving to be resistent to antibiotics), why would that suddenly be proof that a sentient, (presumably) humanoid, giant metaphysical being poofed everything into existence? Doesn’t seem like a very sound theory to me…
Just in response to peoples Points about carbon dating, it has been proven to be Not very accurate, a test was done a few years ago where they hurried a monkey and dug it up a few years later, when carbon dating the result showed it had been hurried for a few hundred years longer than it had been. It is not the most reliable of sources. Secondly, have any of you watched the interviews with Antony flew on YouTube? He was one of the top athiest scientists until a few years ago, where he became an agnostic after studying the evidence for and against evoloution, he released a public statement saying this. Before critizising all of these Christians have you read all of the bible and the texts they are quoting from? If not then it is unfair to argue against something that you don’t know much about apart from what is fed to you by the media
I loved the mother’s quote….. “It’s easier to explain to my children”.
What the creation of the earth in 7 days, the mass flood and repopulation of the world through 2 of each animal (surely that’s done something to the genetics) or the creation of sunlight at the click of a finger?
Gees
Us.
what hope these children, honestly??
I love the fact that now the Christian folks can’t really go on denying that Dinosaurs existed as they used to (‘oh yeah, those bones are just a TEST from God to test our faith. They are not REAL bones….’ used to be the stock type of answer) they have to try and shoehorn the dinosaurs into their story book…..astounding.
Awsome in the worst possible way.
Substances used for radiometric dating don’t differ wildly. The larger the amount of time measured, the larger the margin is, of course – if you have a 10% error margin on ten minutes, you are out by as little as a minute. 10% error margin on a billion years is still 10%, but looks so much larger. This is probably what you mean.
I’m not sure exactly why you think these substances would all change in independent ways at once to agree on current timescales as they do. Also, evolution is studied all the time – but sticking to creationism means you have to forget evidence, or confuse things, as you did with carbon dating. Scientists question gravity, too, but they don’t simply deny it.
Yeah, but they have a point though….I mean, we did plant those fake dinosaur bones 65 million years ago just to screw with the heads of the Born Agains !!
I was “brain washed” with exactly this kind of rubbish… (even saying that now makes me feel bad) and it is total rubbish. I was sent to christiam camps from the age of 11 untill 16 and we where indoctrinated with this junk.
Praise the lord i dont believe it anymore!! (sorry couldnt resist!)
According to the bible you can be stoned to death for wearing two different cloths together, or working on a Sunday….am I allowed to kill my boss myself or do I have to call in a policeman to do it for me?
Narrow minded idiots like these only get to spout such nonsense because of the First Amendment. A law created I believe to encourage avoice AGAINST the church….Ken Ham think on that you muppet!
The kid at the end says it all…his parent told him there is no such thing as evolution….D’oh!
Good point Berber Anna.
If we didn’t have much evidence for evolution, that doesn’t prove creation.
All I have to do is read the Bible, and that alone gives me enough doubt. Most of my doubts come form the text itself.
Sad to say i’m not supprised by this at all. Being brought up in a religious family myself i’ve heard very simular things. My grandparents are evangelical christans and my mum’s dead against it after being bought up in it. So with a bit of luck there’s hope for these kids! The most stupid thing i heard from my grandfather was that my younger brother would go to hell if he continued to read Harry Potter as it was seen as WitchCraft! Also i’ve been looked down upon for doing YOGA!!!!!
How come evolution hasnt weeded out the genes responsible for these brainwashing indoctrinating idiots? Come on evolution… who’s side are you on? The only thing ‘God’ created was a bunch of braindead sheep (no offence to actual sheep) that need hypocritical controlling abusive and greedy ‘shepherds’ to guide them. Ive had it said to me that God put dinosaur bones here to test christians’ faith. Words also failed me then as they do now, it’s too late for them, those indoctrinated brainwashed irresponsible fools, save yourselves!
…wow
most Christians r really stupid pll
iam a Christian but…i find that what they were doing is really messed up
i mean i h8 church cus there always filled with pll like that
….i feel disgusted watching that and knowing they think there doing the right think…-_- wth
(I think the human race could be capable of amazing feets but…right now we r at the lowest point we could be this is an exmple of it.)
Religion and science can coexist. Sadly the true importance of religion is often lost, as the importance of tolerance is not taught. Power can be drawn from intolerance. Religion becomes a very dangerous thing, if it is combined with intolerance.
I don’t pretend to estimate the ‘danger’ of the teachings of this video, but it is clear the ‘teachers’ have either missed the point of religion, or are using intolerance for the purposes of gaining a form of power. In any case, the values at the core of the depicted events are not values I would want children to inherit.
Regarding carbon dating and the age of the earth, there are other methods independent of carbon dating that confirms the age of the earth. Coral growth and geochronometry (see CORAL GROWTH AND GEOCHRONOMETRY NATURE March 9, 1963 JOHN W. WELLS) using growth lines on corals. That dinosaurs lived with people is utterly incredible, the evolutionary lieange of the first synapsids (the group containing mammals, i.e. us) did not even appear until the end of the cretaceous period i.e. when the dinosaurs went extinct.
Don’t mind if bring the discussion back to *science* do you? Seems to be nearly all more knee-jerk reactions about indoctrination. As someone said, above, this is a short clip from a longer film. If you don’t get a feeling for what Creationism is about and the flaws in evolution theory, then knee-jerk reactions are all you will be able to muster because you WON’T UDERSTAND.
That means you have been indoctrinated and/or under-educated.
Nige mentions other radio dating methods. Yes, those isotopes have much longer half-lives, but the whole dating process is still built around ASSUMPTIONS.
I also believe that some people get upset about this issue because they know that if and when they are prepared to learn about the proper science, it behooves them to doubt their own ‘atheism’.
That is sickening. Why do they think they have the right to do that? It’s ridiculous…it’s actual brainwashing… Those children don’t know any better… It reminds me of a youth club weekend I went on once when I was younger, and they were trying to “save” us. I remember the guy on stage saying something along the lines of “so many people will be damned to an eternity in hell, so many people. It’s such a shame. But guess what? You can be saved…right now!!…” UGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! And he told us to come up to the front… I very nearly did too…thank feck i was too shy to. Ugh it makes me properly angry thinking about it. >:l
A friend of mine had a fundamentalist Christian upbringing. He had never been taught about evolution in school before university. When he did learn about it, it made more sense to him than creationism, and he has no trouble accepting evolution as a reasonable explanation for how things work. He also retains his Christian beliefs and has been able to reconcile the two.
The kids will be fine. Remember when you hit your teens and started to question everything your parents ever told you? These kids will do the same, or at least any of them with an IQ over 85 will. And when that day comes, it will blow their minds, the world will seem more wonderful and full of possibilities than they ever thought it could be.
There’s no awakening as amazing as a scientific awakening.
The following is from your blog. This is for other users of this site who may also find you annoying.
“Let me remind you that the early homosexual activists knew they would have to destroy the traditional family unit in order to feel fully ‘equal’. And as a strong and free society depends on strong family bonds, they are actually destroying our society. The same is true of the use of pornography and New Labour’s sex ‘education’. By changing the natural bonding rules, those human bonds become weaker – one night stands, homosexual liaisons, single parents – and thus society becomes weaker and collectively we are less able to stand up to the increasing amount of authority which is depriving us of our freedom”
well what can i say ! i feel sad and sick at the same time.. sad as evolution of humans have come to this and sick that children are being brainwashed by total misinformed idiots.
I didn’t read every response. so apologies if someone has already addressed the issue. The creationists were not saying that dinosaurs never existed, as a few of your respondents mistakenly think – merely that they never existed mollions of years ago before man. I believe that their is fossil evidence of shod human footprints and dinosaur tracks intermingling in the same strata of earth, which evolutionists prefer to ignore.
Yes, the video is slightly cringeworthy – but an point of view presented badly does not necessarily invalidate the point of view. Personally, I find the notion that everything in the universe just happened purely by accident to be every bit as fantastic as the most ‘far-out’ claims of some creationists.
Wow is all I can say. I’m not bothered about adults believing in creationism, but the kids should have an equal chance with evolution and with creationism to make their choice and not be indoctrinated like these poor kids are. I am a biologist so I quite blatantly believe in the one with the most evidence, creationism. Nah just messing , seriously though people who indoctrinate kids like this are really just a bunch of douches -_-.
This is an alarming issue that can ruin the society as a whole. Despite the fact that sectors of society must address to the need of changing such notion and belief. I therefore can see the drastic influences of the elderly with regards to their child’s up bringing.
Holy shit… What is wrong with people?
Sorry, couldn’t make it past the minute mark of that. I really hope that these kids get the opportunity in their schools (if they are lucky enough to go to one rather than being “home-schooled”) to learn that what this deluded nut said to them was a pack of lies.
I feel utterly disgusted
Basically, this amounts to child abuse. The conditioning of children like this is immoral and should be illegal.
:’(
This would be hilarious as a parody but in reality its worrying. Such misconceptions make it easier to peddle rot like this.
in the words of the great DVB himself….Oh Em Gee.
what unbelievable and blatant brainwashing of children, refuting dinosaurs existence is ridiculous and extremely narrow minded, clearly for people who have a limited IQ who aren\’t able to understand how science works and how the techniques that have allowed us to evolve to the point where we have such huge technological and medical advances are possible. very sad to see that people are allowed to brainwash kids in this way and simultaneously destroy their belief in what has allowed us as a species to get to where we are now. i do not necessarily think there is anything wrong with believing in god, indeed some scientists choose to, i do, however, see something wrong with refuting scientific fact.
“God said it… I believe it… that settles it.”
Well that’s infallable isn’t it? Thank goodness we all heard it direct from God, and not via some fable that got written down and manipulated and badly translated for centuries. Else I might have some doubts…
Argue against that you pesky scientists… with your evidence
‘i don’t believe in this pre-conceived notion that dinosaurs died out millions of years ago.’
truly, truly despicable. I feel so sorry for all of those kids.
…I feel sick.
God said it, I believe it, that settles it. Brilliant.
I like the look on the mum’s face when she spoke to the camera. The good old “I’m saying something stupid, and I kinda know it” look.
She’ll be one of us in about 10 years.
I saw this last week, atrocious really.
There is no law when it seems to come to religion. From learning this stuff to protecting paedophiles. The Church and Religion seem to be above the law.
I wonder if Bush believed in Creation or Evolution.
They fail me too…
OMG, how the hell can they pump this crap into children and get away with it?
Well can’t argue with that logic, god has been around for ever and knows everything think i might just have been converted….
It’s going to be a heartbreaking day when they discover the truth about Santa….I mean jesus!
oh my god!
Talk about a brain wash!!
Do all christians believe in MAGIC
the world was created in 7 days!! hahahaha…. seriously do you believe that?
Just watch out for those priests, lieing to your kids and molesting them as soon as they get a chance!! I dont believe it logical to base your past and future on one book written by a old old cult to ensure that people live a a respctable and structured life….
How many bibles?
how many sientific books on evolution?
ask you selves that.
cherry o
“It’s just easier to explain to your children…”
This is dire. It’s terrifying how many parents would be so willing to subject their children to this.
Probably relevant to note here that in the last UK parliament, 584 MPs described themselves as having no political interest in science. (New Scientist article, 22 April 2010)
nice use of the grandad/ape image to reel the kids in. what seems so innocent in the eyes of a child!
My words fail too… but Bill Hicks has words that i feel deal with these people:
thats hard to watch
Oh my God…! Let’s see how evolution deals with this
Excuse me, while I go throw up!
Unbelievable!
In my opinion the presenter is the best proof for creationism.
Kindly,
Michael
Terrifying. Also – first post!
Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.
One of the most horrifying and depressing things I’ve seen in a very long time.
………..!!
Parents talking about evidence from out of the bible while it is 99.9% obvious they have never ever looked into what evolution means for real…sad sad sad sad kiddies, they don’t even get the chance to look the other way or compare …this is pure indoctrination. Harmfull!
erm, best proof for evolution, of course…
these poor children….
That is reallly scary o.0
Looking forward to the next tour!
Brainwashing!!
Oh my fucking god…
Good grief brain washing children to believe this NONSENSE. Is the word “jackass” in the Bibble?
@Stewart Cowan
a) Creationism is not a science, it is a religious belief, rooted in a literalistic interpretation of the Book of Genesis which is itself not a scientific text but a theological one.
b) We all live in the *present*, yourself included.
This guy should be arrested for fraud. And so should whoever booked him.
…………………. (yep, words fail me too)
LC x
Couldn’t finish it… I am utterly disgusted…
there was a great link on that site:
http://notjesusfault.com/
so glad he’s been absolved!
Churches would grind to a halt if it wasn’t for childhood indoctrination.
Science = questions and proof.
This is from an HBO documentary made by Nancy Pelosi’s daughter. It’s called Friends of God

Well worth watching…

FOSSIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do. Not. Want.
Seriously though, what sickening nonsense. I feel sorry for those kids.
jesus christ.
this is fucking disgusting…they’re kids for christs sake…
Notice how science is finally being debated now a Creationist has turned up! Otherwise, it’s all knee-jerk faux horror reactions to the ‘brainwashing’.
@Pablo Robles
@Fosca
a) Creation science is science based on the assumption that the Genesis account (and many other accounts) is correct, whereas evolutionary theory is based on the assumption that the processes we see on earth today have always been thus and there was therefore no global flood or asteroid strikes, etc.
Oh Em Gee
They’re Brainwashing Little Kids :O
‘God Said It, I Believe It, That Settles It.’
Yeah Because That’s All The Proof We Need, Right?
There was a nice measure of irony in how Ken Ham looked *exactly* like the picture of the ape he threw up.
I weep for those children.
There is no Derren Brown emoticon for what I am feeling right now.
BUT I LOVE DINOSAURS
how come they found fossels ? http://www.rareresource.com/ yh…
I kinda feel like crying.
Hopefully, someone will actually tell them what science is soon. Actually, I would have loved to have been there. “Who should we trust?” “Science!” “What did you learn today?” “What a load of bollocks that was.”
But, yeah, I’m sorry kids but it will get better. Maybe.
Well I don’t believe in gravity, therefore it mustn’t be real.
Hang on a sec, how come I’m not floating around the room?
All I could say after that was OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!
basically Tim sorts this out in the best way!
Hi Stewart,
Radioactive dating uses a variety of substances.
Grtz EmcG
Distressing. Nothing short of child abuse
This is disgracefull
Let me see if I’ve got it all right, did jesus f**k dinosaurs?
to me it just seems that creationism is about as sientific as the earth being flat and in the center of the galaxy…
also im with paul on the part of wich of the two stories of creation is true when the clearly contradict each other.
Holy crap, Marie!
Save us from the creationists!
Not many people want to discuss science & instead stick to ad hominem (or ad haminem?) attacks.
It tells me who the indoctrinated are. They don’t talk about science because they know little or nothing about it.
@ScreamingGreenConure,
All radio dating methods require the same assumptions, such as constant rates of decay, the starting amount of the radioactive isotopes and that nothing has been lost or added and there *are* cases of wildly differing results from the same samples using different methods.
@Stephen,
“Creationism doesn’t require its adherents to ask questions about the world around them…”
I was an evolutionist until five years ago because I was conditioned to believe it without question like you.
Ken ham is a massively fail export. Sorry for sending this guy out to the world!
As someone who used to lecture about evolution, I was constantly amazed by the misconceptions even supposedly intelligent people have about the topic.
@Stewart Cowan
Hmmm, interesting comments.
It is funny, I would note, that when children are taught science, it is education; when they are taught creationism it is propaganda and conditioning…
Doesn’t seem like a very sound theory to me…
Did u hear about the latest exorcism. A woman had to call the devil to get the priest out of her child
That woman one minute in or so sounded like she was desperately trying to convince herself :/
Awsome in the worst possible way.
shocking, utterly shocking . . .
This makes me want to cry.
God bless America…
Such a waste of life really
Yeah, but they have a point though….I mean, we did plant those fake dinosaur bones 65 million years ago just to screw with the heads of the Born Agains !!
I was “brain washed” with exactly this kind of rubbish… (even saying that now makes me feel bad) and it is total rubbish. I was sent to christiam camps from the age of 11 untill 16 and we where indoctrinated with this junk.
Praise the lord i dont believe it anymore!! (sorry couldnt resist!)
“God Said it, I believe it. That settles it!”
I’d quite like to cry.
I feel physically sick after watching that. It’s disgusting what people will do to fragile young minds.
I feel like giving that bastard a swift back-hand
…wow
most Christians r really stupid pll
iam a Christian but…i find that what they were doing is really messed up
i mean i h8 church cus there always filled with pll like that
….i feel disgusted watching that and knowing they think there doing the right think…-_- wth
Poor childs. They will burn forever in hell.
The kid at 0.51 isn’t buying it.
Stewart,
Regarding carbon dating and the age of the earth, there are other methods independent of carbon dating that confirms the age of the earth.
What?
I think it was the great Maude Flanders, who said, ‘won’t somebody please think of the children!’
I wonder if she accepted evolution?
I wish she was still with us.
Oh btw… I’m not christian, but I do believe in The Simpsons.
Despair not.
@Stewart Cowan
By changing the natural bonding rules, those human bonds become weaker – one night stands, homosexual liaisons, single parents – and thus society becomes weaker and collectively we are less able to stand up to the increasing amount of authority which is depriving us of our freedom”
well what can i say ! i feel sad and sick at the same time.. sad as evolution of humans have come to this and sick that children are being brainwashed by total misinformed idiots.
utter utter madness!!!!!!!!!
This is an outrage. I know this stuff goes on but it never ceases to amaze and infuriate me. Really, really quite shocking.
Dreadful. This made my blood run cold.
shouldn’t take Jurassic Park too seriously.
Wow is all I can say. I’m not bothered about adults believing in creationism, but the kids should have an equal chance with evolution and with creationism to make their choice and not be indoctrinated like these poor kids are. I am a biologist so I quite blatantly believe in the one with the most evidence, creationism. Nah just messing
, seriously though people who indoctrinate kids like this are really just a bunch of douches -_-.
i mean…
just look at the man!
he looks really well educated… ehm ..
mlon
That guys existence is the only thing that makes me question evolution!
The thing about following ‘Sheppard’s is all they do to lambs is lead them to slaughter. What century are in?
Derren Brown is brilliant!!! and he is cute!
This is an alarming issue that can ruin the society as a whole. Despite the fact that sectors of society must address to the need of changing such notion and belief. I therefore can see the drastic influences of the elderly with regards to their child’s up bringing.
