I love Mr Shilling’s land art. There are similarities to AG and I think in the beginning that is where he got his inspiration from,, but even though it is still land art he has definitely created his own style the past couple of years, I love following his blog and also find his writing very soul seaching and has depth.

There are lots of land artists about, have you seen any of Chris Dury’s work or Nils Udo. All great stuff.

Yes, I was thinking that Bletherskite, the similarity to Andy Goldsworthy’s work is striking, but I love this artist’s work too. There’s something very satisfying about creating from the nature around you. I did a few pieces of this nature (pun intended) myself a long time ago and it was great fun.

The stones in that ditch .. someone with too much time on his hands? Hahaha … Very nice, all things he does. I wonder whether they are there only for a limited period (probably). Didn’t we all try to built piles of stones, and didn’t they all fall down too soon, not to mention that they def. did not look as nice as this guy’s piles of stones. I wonder how he started with these things. Did he do that stuff already when he was young, etc. Hm, read the bio?

A lot of this work is very similar to Andy Goldsworthy….and I find Goldsworthy’s work to be much more beautiful and intriguing.

The cairn above is very similar to the work of Andy Goldsworthy, who is based in southern scotland, although his cairns tend to be a bit more egg-shaped. He also does a lot of transient work with clay, leaves, stone, twigs, ice, grass etc. etc and photographs it as it subsequently decays. He has done sculptures around the world too.

That cairn looks very similar to something I found in the Brecon Beacons some years ago:

It also looks a lot like Wales. I wonder if I stumbled across one of his creations.
