As most of you know, Derren has a love for parrots and is the patron of the Parrot Zoo Trust.
The Parrot Zoo have just received planning permission to construct the Rainforest Experience, an amazing all weather development, allowing anyone at anytime to experience the creatures that live in the Rainforest set within the Parrot Zoo who recently received the honour of being within the top 100 visitor attractions to visit in the UK, this will no doubt enhance what is already a superb facility.
The proposed development incorporates a large open-plan landscaped interior with a series of enclosures for a variety of animal species. Giving a totally unique educational experience showing the different levels of a rainforest and the creatures that live within, offering the Parrot Zoo the availability to diversify into alternative animals creating an overall better experience.
Visit the Parrot Zoo Website where you can find out more information about the above project, sponser parrots and also make a donation to support ‘The Rainforest Experience’ project. (Thanks @_Craigy)

I love Parrots and I am definately going to try to get to the parrot zoo sometime. The rainbow experience will be brilliant . I am sure my cheeky pair of cockatiels would love it. x
I have been honoured to have visited The Parrot Zoo on two occasions now, donating money from my charity work.
It is the most beautiful place and you will, I’m sure, fall in love with the place like I, the moment I set foot on the grounds.
The ‘noise’ is a blissful ‘noise’ and lasts with you throughout the experience and for days to come with your memories.
Please PLEASE visit (good suggestion!
) – you’ll regret it if you don’t.
And what a way to Thank the lovely and very delightful Derren, someone I have had the great honour of meeting. What a genltleman and a wonderful friend too. X
Visit and donate to The Parrot Zoo. X
I guess I must be lucky as my garden is often full of parrots and other interesting birds.
I wonder if it will be designed along the same lines as the rainforest biome at the Eden Project in Cornwall
My friend is coming over from Australia next June and we’re going along to The Parrot Zoo at some point while she’s here.
I wonder how they will make sure those plants and trees will survive … I live in a similar zoo at home … can’t have plants in the house … and any tree that grows into their outside area will be cut immediately …
OD’ing them probably will take care of that matter … let’s hope …
I’d love to visit the parrot zoo once. And going home being very happy that my 30 birds, however noisy they are, still are not as noisy as the large parrots can be …
