great show last night derren !!! i can relate to your subject in so many ways only i look at my life and know i am in way more of a rut , i just cant get motovated to do anything with my life , really i have not moved on from being 18 and im nearly 30 now ohhhh what i would give to have the same chance as your subject .
I loved the programme from start to finish, however derren made a quote about fear and courage & I can’t remember what it was exactly, can anyone help??
Many of the literature and inspiring art that has impacted myself has also been a favourite of Derrens. He has referenced some of the best of Thomas Harris, Richard Dawkins and Iain M Banks. Yesterday we saw echoes of the holdup at gunpoint scene from Fight Club and the film “The Game”. Both stories of people looking into the abyss and finding themselves. Why? because as Derren said, we have but one short life, and the quality of our life isn’t how LONG we live but how WELL we live. Derren’s reference to our lives being a miracle mirror the key moment in “The Watchmen” and it is a point well pondered.
For me, I will use Derren’s final point as my inspiration. There’s no time like the present to start my own thirty days. To be my own hero….
My only criticism is that the show wasn’t really about that final challenge. It was a spectacle yes. It was gripping, yes. But it was about being a hero in everyday life. helping someone who’s car has broken down. Taking time to write in your journal. Hugging your mum.
Living.
Unfortunately, derren has to grab headlines and take attention. So I can’t blame him. I just hope that people got the real message.
It was an exciting and an amazing ambitious projects were broadcasted last night, the extraordinary personal challenges transformed the person’s unconfident character to the Hero.
It will be amazing if we all understand how to use the power of self-hyponosis and sub-consciousness do
in control of ourself and will be able to do things in positive ways as well as negative ways.
It was delightful ingenious TV project Derren has made.
Oh my God, I’ve never really paid much attention to Derren before, however last night I was in awe at the work you did with that guy. I was in tears for the last 30 mins of the show. Amazing. Thank you!
that was the best derren brown program i have watched, the guy is a genius, superb ability, very very freaky how he does it, amazing results
you are my hero derren, truly amazing,
i am in no doubt that it was genuine, a friend of mine has been on stage at a show and did some crazy stuff within seconds, these shows are the best thing on TV by far
keep up the good work Derren, i would love to be in a show, amazing!
It’s already out there on the internet, just saw the plane and flight sim part.
I myself wont get into details but I hope everyone enjoyed it watching. Even if you dont believe in hypnosis it still may trigger someone’s interest for different reasons ..
I think male are Brown’s best subjects. It’s the brain structure .. men ..
I was completely blown away by this one. It has inspired me. I wish I had been the young man who had the opportunity and courage to get Derren’s help to change his self-esteem and mind set. I hope the result will be ongoing for him.
Great show i enjoyed it as much as his other work. I am scared of flying too so i could empathise with matt. However, whilst i understand the motivation behind the programme and support it fully it was a little inacurate as there seemed to be only one pilot, were was the co-pilot? Luckily for derren matt was to engrossed in the moment to consider the empty seat. But it could have been made more authentic if the main pilot had “colapsed” leaving behind a “inexperianced” co-pilot who required help with the land and the co-pilot instead of control could have guided him. I also did not realy understand his reasoning for being live when the show was pre-recorded. Im looking forward to seeing what his next trick is
Hi Derren, Only got 5 minutes , I’m in the Library. Liberating and Magnificent. You alsoare a lot happier in your self. I have lost my mum this year, I am a Partner, Father ,step father, and still muddling through life at the age of 44. You have helped me with memory techniques and I went from being a care_taker to being a mortgage consultant. WOW. Sister is a alchoholic . Help me mate PLEASE!
Steven, and others wishing they had had this opportunity and been the subject of last night’s show. Everything that happened to Matt came from within him. Derren just gave him choices. We all have the same chances to make our own choices every day. Good luck!
Just started watching it – Derren’s speech about people’s lives being miracles is uncannily like the words of the Godlike Jon Osterman (Doctor Manhattan) to Laurie while on Mars in Alan Moore’s ‘Watchmen’ (also used for the film) as Jon suddently has a revelation about the value of human life: “miracles… events with odds against so astronomical they’re effectively impossible, like oxygen spontaneously becoming gold. I long to observe such a thing. And yet, in each human coupling, a thousand million sperm vie for a single egg. Multiply those odds by countless generations, against the odds of your ancestors being alive… but the world is so full of people, so crowded with these miracles that they become commonplace and we forget… ” http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/61926
I’d like to say I believed it – I really would but, how come it was raining on DB in the field and not on Matt? Also, the crocodile looked really one minute and then was clearly a fake. Hmmmm…………not convinced……….
At college today, I heard someone sitting beside me say, “Derren Brown is better than Jesus.”
Would just like to say one more time that I thought last night’s show was the sweetest thing I have ever seen anybody do. I just want to give Derren a massive hug! Also, GO MATT!
It’s really opened my mind.
I just want to go out and live the best life I can now. After events like these, it does make you a new person, I just wish that Darren had come to me because I need to be more confident and brave.
I loved how at the end, he was giving the man with the broken down van a speech on just going for things and living his life like he wanted. A complete turn around. Very complelling and heart warming x
Churchill said: Once in a while you will stumble upon the truth but most of us manage to pick ourselves up and hurry along as if nothing had happened.
I feel that way now, Derren has reminded me that the only way to live is to be one’s own hero. No matter where you are in your life, we all need this reminder from time to time. Let us not hurry along as if nothing had happened.
I watched last night’s show as a seventeen year old fan constantly intrigued by Derren Brown..
But when a best friend of mine watched it, seeing someone transform and conquer a fear in such a drastic way reached her. I’ve been so worried about her for such a long time, but she watched it and cried. Hearing what she said after the show- about knowing that she had the ability in herself to change her life for the better… and overcoming her issues.. it was amazing.
Thank you, Derren.
Thank you so much.
The two of us came down to see you in Wimbledon with another friend- we were big fans, but now- I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart. It’s more than just being highly entertained, it meant a lot.
Thanks again, I’ll shut up now
xxxx
Absolutely engrossing TV. Loved the fact that he was still nervous (as hell) when he put himself forward on the plane, so it was nice to see that it was still very much him, and it was done by using a lot of positive “suggestion” rather than getting him to do something he wouldn’t do by “hypnotism” alone.
Derren seemed genuinely over the moon at the result, so it will interesting to see what happens to him in the future – and if he does apply/join the Police.
I adore derren brown..i was trying so so hard to be convinced by it…but i just couldnt.
Obviously there was the rain thing with the crocodile, there was the fact that a notebook and pen suddenly appeared when matt went to that field, the fact that OFCOM exists and would never allow someone being tied to train tracks to be shown on tv! was a great show though, thoroughly enjoyed it and cried several times. just finding it really hard to believe derren is, at the end of the day, and illusionist and most of all entertainer.
Absolutely loved the show and I have never had any reason to doubt anything Derren Brown does, but I would like to ask whether Matt would not have questioned the fact that the plane was flying in the day time and then when he entered the cockpit it became night. Obviously the pressure of the situation may be enough for him to not even notice the change but it leads me to my second question, exactly which part of the show (if any) is actually live?
Hi Derren, I missed the show on Channel 4, but managed to catch it on 4od and was amazed by Matts’ journey in the space of just a month! I coldn’t hep but feel jelous of him, both for getting to meet you, and to have his life changed in such a dramatic and positive way. I have struggled with depression for 12 years, and I think what you did to Matt, would be a far better treatment fr anyone, rather than drugs. If only doctos would practice these same techniques as you, and fix people up for life. Just goes to show how simply changing someones frame of mind can have such an effect on thier life.
I have watched your shows for a long time and am still baffled at how you are able to pull off such amazing work. I would love to take part in one of your shows sometime. Thank you. Irene ~xXx~
The CTC 737 NG simulator does not display a convincingly real exterior, I cannot believe it was possible to convince someone that they were in fact looking at a real exterior rather than a computer projected image made up of pixels.
Some people are very unaware of their senses, shocking!!!
This was nothing short of inspirational. This is what TV should be about. Inspiring people to live better lives in the most creative way possible. I cried watching this show, I felt goose bumps all over at the end, like I was witnessing something amazing. And it was amazing for Matt, who I wish all the best on his new path in life but it was also amazing to me and obvious so many other people who watched it. I feel inspired and in awe of what Derren and his team have done.
Please more TV like this, I’d even buy this as a DVD or download quite happily.
And finally to Steven Parker who replied earlier in this thread. I think you’ve been given the same tools Matt has in a way, just by following along with the show. You felt inspired like I did and just like Matt you’re nervous
YES! I missed it lastnight. Off to watch it now.
Was quality
Where can ppl outside the UK watch the show ?
30 days eh?
Fantastic show last night Derren – really enjoyable! It’s all we are talking about in the studio this morning…

A Rembrandt of an idea with an IKEA frame.

Hi,
Fantastic show last night.
Now how about we celebrate like its 2009? :0)
Is there anywhere online I could go to view the show? I live in the states and wasn’t able to watch it.
I adore derren brown..i was trying so so hard to be convinced by it…but i just couldnt.

I would really have been happy if the crocodile had been invited to the post show party !!

I just watched on 4OD; this was the most incredible show-very moving, inspirational and superbly executed. You have truly outdone yourself with this.
Matt was truly heroic; what a guy!
Hi Derren, I missed the show on Channel 4, but managed to catch it on 4od and was amazed by Matts’ journey in the space of just a month! if you let me take part in a live show i’ll probably ruin it because i know what you do.. but i’m proud of you derren.
Sucks if you live in the states and get 4OD restricted

Just Do It.
I’ve now had my 30 days and this show has utterly changed my life in every possible way.
Thank you Derren!!!
