“This film explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world.
We use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, we play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation.”

Really cool, and the music track is perfect too. Do you think this is a product of the technology working on an iPad? Or an idea that required finding the technology? Brilliant either way!
I really love this. I had a very similar idea once – the ipad is the perfect tool for such wonders.
Ooooh, aaah etc.
Enter the Matrix!
Wowee, soo love this…Lightpainting 2d is already stunning but this is Amazing…guess kinda difficult too as you have to move in rythm sync with the movie that is emitting…
Soon: RL-Holographics will be a peace of cake, yay!
Beautiful, so when will I be getting my holographic telly ?
James Burke promised me one !
This reminds me of a bit of the locative art concepts from the book Spook Country.
Exciting stuff!
Find light work with type on my website since 2008.. and guess what it actually has a ‘concept’ behind it. “woah!! Really!!?”
Personally this is just an experiment to me, I leave that ‘stuff’ on flickr…
Freehand will ALWAYS be better for integrity and soul but I see the uses of this.. so watch this space.
