Hard to imagine now, when we're used to TV suddenly getting about 3dB louder for ad breaks and so on. I was hoping for more like the poster that inspired the quotations book Keep Calm And Carry On (it was a Government poster, created during the war but never published. Luckily, accidentally uncovered in a bookshop - perhaps it'd be quite apt PR spin for this week's CSR ?) Interesting, but as with everything in our modern age “shame about those pesky ads” :)
