Thanks for the response. Of course the loss of indoctrination & "fairy stories" should be freeing, but watching a 33 year old devout christian friend recently realise that the people who loved him had been lying to him his whole life was pretty heartbreaking. He's suffered terribly & threw himself ito being more & more devout to deny what his head was telling him, he refers to his current state as being one of "religious" withdrawal" he says he feels as if he's lost part of his identity. I hope that with the support of his mates he'll end up happier, but this isn't a "revelation" for everyone that immediately brings great happiness, what he is now, is miserable & confused. I Imagine Derren could probably shed some light on this frame of mind. Tony. Thanks for the response. I doubt that, but I know it can also be hugely relieving and freeing. Perhaps I should open my garage, accessible to all faiths incidentally, and invite a few Catholics over for a party, not necessarily "of youth", and relay some "common reason" to them!
