which I read after seeing it on Derren’s recommended reading page. They’re only human I guess…but some of them do have the power to have people executed. Hmm.

Many years ago a friend of mine was busted for cannabis possession. He was confident of beating the charge as, although a regular user, he had nothing in his possession at that time and all the police could find was an old roach in a back-yard shared by six student flats.

When he got to court he was ‘verballed’. The officer testified that when questioned he had said, ‘It’s a fair cop, yes that is mine.’ His solicitor told him to plead guilty as his word would never stand up to that of a copper and calling said copper a liar and fighting the case would only result in a punitive sentence.

I’d like to think things have changed – this was in the heyday of the Gene Hunt school of coppering -but I suspect not.

Wow! I say the man should be commended and gone a little easy on for telling the truth finally.

Wonderful yet sad story. A living example why it’s horrible to lie, and even though you have no remorse during the bad deeds, you can’t get rid of the guilt nor the sin. It’s got to be fixed.

That’s just wrong. It’s hard to imagine a cop lying to the court, but using drugs AND lying to the court – it’s not right.
