Actually, while dolphins tend to be found with yellowfin tuna and may end up as by-catch in tuna netting (although they don't end up in the tins, as dolphin meat -- being mammalian -- is quite distinct from tuna meat which is fish, and consumers would notice that), they don't associate with skipjack tuna. So it's quite possible to buy tins of tuna that were caught without harm to dolphins.

And I still don't see how you'd study the healing capacities of a dead dolphin.

Natural selection would dictate that dolphins would not b suceptable to bleeding a lot. Or every shark attack would prove fatal. Think about it, having survived a small nibble from jaws1 only to b left pissin blood all over the ocean to alert jaws2 as to your injury is not agreat survival technique. As to a few dolphins dyin for research to aid our evergrowing lifespan happens all the time, nieve is an understatment. 3% of all tinned tuna is comprised of dolphin meat n thats only purposfully filling ur stomach. Leave the bloody creatures alone, in the wise words of freddy mercury, "who wants to live forever" peace.

Natalie, I may be naive, but I don't see how killing them would help in studying their healing process. I mean, they only have self-healing capacities as long as they're alive...

Wow that is phenomenal!!

Although I can't say I'm happy about the dolphins who will likely be killed in order to conduct this research, it is definitely a breakthrough!
