It's that we use a certain percentage of our brain at any one time, not that we're only using that small percentage and the rest of the brain just lays dormant. They're amazing! He was diagnosed as having water on the brain as a baby, so they implanted a tube and trailed it all the way down in to his stomach to drain away the fluid. Of course, they realised that as he grew the tube wouldn't reach anymore, so they just curled it up inside his stomach so that it would gradually unravel as he got taller, and he wouldn't need to have another operation. Totally fantastic, and so simple! I know someone who has one of those shunts. They’re amazing!
