Having asked the same question in two different ways, and been given two answers which bore no relevance to the question submitted. My final e-mail to them read: You win, I give up, and will go elsewhere.

This is very typical of PayPal. You have to read their terms and conditions inside out and backwards, and then assign the broadest meaning to them that you can think of: not because their terms are unreasonable, but because they will use any infringement, even the slightest, as a justification for shutting down your account with no warning and keeping the money.

They also refuse to clarify their terms, or give any clear delineation as far as what is and isn’t okay. After losing a few thousand USD of server rent money several years ago due to hosting “pornographic content”, my little team now dare not even host nude classical art, as PayPal refuse to give us any limits on how “adult” is too “adult”.

I’m not at all surprised by this occurrence.

@Rhian I am currently in a dispute with an ebay seller and Paypal regarding transactions. Waiting for about 100 quid. It’s a nightmare getting through to these people. (Glad you got the money back : )

Paypal once took over £500 off me in an unauthorised transaction. I was less than impressed but got it all back about a week later.

Same thing happened to me when I attempted to raise money for a trip to Haiti. I was going for a building project, but PayPal shut down my donations. The money got me there, but I was pretty pissed off as it took a month to correct the issue.

Ho the heck I’d you get a number for pay pal ? I have never been able to get one to discuss their false claims to provide buyer protection for eBay (the company that owns them). Gotta say, I am a fan of yours ….. But definitely not of them.

The phone conversation is shocking but you know it’s totally representative of how real-life people see the world as us versus them, with whoever disagrees with your employer/god as the enemy.
