Oh how I love these egotistical rows and closed minds. I havent seen this yet .. am doing some sort of a Derren Brown catch up if you will.... however why are each of us so opinionated so argumentative (rhetorical question if I can)?. I am sure Derren will explore that one day if he hasnt already. Pure pig ignorance on by behalf because I havent read the link however I have had extremist one view situations before and I just think nobody here actually really knows all the views so hey there you go there is my view :=)

Anyway would love to see the 2012 Svengali tour.. are there tickets available.!!? Signed the one who did not want to label herself to anything.

Marcus - both the articles you cite are just waffle. They don't even come close to discrediting the claim that warming is happening on Mars and Pluto. The articles are just a knee-jerk reaction by the climatist movement to any facts that underminhe their viewpoint. They are excercises in political debate and propoganda, and do not reveal any new data or give any cause to doubt the claims they are trying to counter. The schepticalscience article reads like a condescending teacher telling a child about the tooth fairy; the new scientist article actually admits that these planets are warming, then tries to move the goalposts by saying that *all* the planets would have to warm (wrong: we only need one example of a planet that can warm without human involvement), and then changes the subject.

Richard Pinder, even your high IQ (that you for some reason felt like flaunting) didn't stop you from falling prey to the myth of Mars temperatures

Debunking the debunking handbook
Science and religion.
Finding the flaws in religion is most difficult when attempted from within the ideology itself. Since the parameters used to create and delineate it, are the same ones that protect it. When challenged from within the confines of a similar creed, the flaws in that belief system temper the effectiveness of its attack on another. However a challenge presented from the outside of all such notions, finds their defences to have no strength.

global warming.
Query: If manmade and real. Why doesn’t the discipline that gifted humans the power to create it, band together? To pressure governments into doing what’s necessary, to ensure the survival of our kind. Plus about a billion other inconvenient questions.

When it comes to the so called climate change consensus, the assumptions are more important than the facts and computer models are more important than the observations. With an IQ of 164, this has made me turn into a climate change skeptic. And finding that the best way to calibrate CO2 warming in the Earths Atmosphere is to use the CO2 Atmosphere of Mars as a proxy. Then you discover that Astronomy has all the answers in facts rather than the IPCC’s ASSUMPTIONS, because the answer is in Cosmic Rays, Cloud Albedo and the length of the solar cycle not the 0.01 Kelvin man made CO2 warming.

It's certainly a good guide to communicating, insofar as it describes ways of being persuasive. But it says little, if anything, about falsifying, let alone debunking: http://t.co/cLtglWSt

Giving facts a fighting chance. Think back to a fond childhood memory. Alternatively choose any fond memory. You feel warm, full of life, caring and open.
