A bit facile on some points, but useful, nonetheless. As you guys said, appropriate for many age groups, maybe that's why it's not soo deep. Nice sharing, anyway.

@ Alan, I went to a school where everyone spoke in riddles, and rarely to one another in a direct fashion. Most were quite intelligent, most had ambition to do well.

More pressing, I don't understand what it is that you are trying to get across, what are you trying to get across?

@Anyone
What is doing well?

Yeah you had it bad, least you ain't in the back of that hearse
That's when it's done, I reach for the speaker capture your love
...
You think i'ma turn 8th of this game, keep your deal
...
It's an evil world we live in, our children are in it
That's why your children are loose, that's why your children are missing
All you've got is dirty dishes and bills in the kitchen
It's real when you've seen it, I feel like i'm slipping up

Mic Righteous, Fire In The Booth

Other than to concede that there are more things in heaven and Earth, than are to be found in all our philosophies combined.
Could we include this supposition in the category of all our philosophies combined and hence create a contradiction.
So is there or is there not more things in heaven and Earth? Good old logic (as in maths)

overly simplified IMHO.

You won't find a court in the land that buy the argument 'play the ball not the player' - witness crediblity is key to many cases.

Well your Honour. May I submit to you any question I choose? Or would you prefer to exert control over any debate? If your reasoning is beyond challenge, no query would present a difficulty. However. If you are fearful of what may be revealed, or already know that human arguments are fatally flawed, strict regulation of any proceedings is paramount.
Would you agree that 1+1= 2? Well the answer is in fact 10. You were unaware that the sum was in binary and simply relied on a preconceived erroneous assumption. Similarly your judgement of other matters cannot compensate for that which you are unaware of. Other than to concede that there are more things in heaven and Earth, than are to be found in all our philosophies combined.

I think the videos are excellent and I have fallen foul on many occasions to such bad logic as I think it is part of the learning curve in understanding good logic, although the emotions can still override at any given time particularly when it comes to defending one's own integrity or beliefs. Honesty & modesty are probably 2 of the most important qualities when it comes to critical thinking so that you have the ability to admit when you are wrong. If the truth you are perusing is guided by your own agenda then these qualities are essential otherwise the truth will quickly diminish into nonsense & lies.

You should always try & avoid breathing in too much smoke from the fire of your own brilliance otherwise you will choke.

Good integrity of all involved makes for good critical thinking

Great little shorts. Definitely worth the 12 or so minutes. Especially part 5 - the Gambler's Falicy. It makes me want to watch Derren's The System again. =]

It gives an attempt of explanations of the short cuts, too much effort, we take short cuts, we trust people and over value opinions, we distrust people and under value their opinions, but the results are there to be evaluated upon, time and time again, we forget.

Why do we forget, always we forget, only to relearn how daft some of the choices we make are, or we get to a point we don't even notice. The videos good, but I don't see it knocking more sense into either the "I'm a logical thinker camp", or the "I'm a trojan spiritualist who wants to wage irrational war against everything camp".

I just don't see as people often evaluate their actions from a point of logic beyond their own desires and feelings (my self included), we don't even look after our selves that well.
