This is so interesting… You wonder what they’re going to find next. I have always thought that the old and somewhat far-fetched myths and legends about unusual creatures and humans were based in truth to some extent… If hobbits did indeed exist, what else did that we may now have placed firmly in the fiction box??! Intrigued!!

Jos, he is coming to Cardiff in April and Llandudno in March, there are a few tickets left for both! I’m going to Cardiff on 7th April =D

That’s really cool. I find things like this so fascinating, and I’m very interested in history & archaeology anyway. Might have to rethink my career choice… =]

@Berber Anna: I had assumed that since you were an Atheist that you had read this book. A lot of the science referenced in the book is common science knowledge which corresponds with your views. I am not suggesting Mr Dawkins thought processes are akin to yours I think better of you than that.

With regards to an ultimate creator, I believe consciousness is the ultimate creator. What else could conceive, perceive and believe it.

That statement really narrows down the number of intelligent people in the world.

With regards to philosophy I cannot be certain of anything so does that make me intelligent or stupid?

Intelligent reasoning can bring the best out of stupidity.

I am reasonably stupid but intelligent enough to know an idiot when I see one. Years of looking in the mirror have taught me that.

Oh meme oh my, I have just finished reading the God Delusion and this blog could not be more appropriate.

On one hand I respect Mr Dawkin for addressing real issues with religion head on while on the other hand I resent him for using religion and atheism for pushing forth his scientific views and theories. One minute he is telling me God does not exist and that the evidence to support religion is virtually non existent and then the next minute he is trying to shove his pseudoscientific “memetic” theory down my throat which cannot be proven with empirical evidence.

It would seem that intelligence teeters on the brink of stupidity and doubt is a safety line.
