BBC NEWS: “A tongue-in-cheek Twitter user giving “updates” on a missing deadly Egyptian cobra now has some 154,000 followers.

The 20in (50cm) venomous snake escaped from New York City’s Bronx Zoo on Friday, and is yet to be found.

In one tweet, BronxZoosCobra says: “On top of the Empire State Building! All the people look like little mice down there. Delicious little mice.”

In its Twitter account, The Bronx Zoo – which has some 8,000 followers – admits it is currently “the snake’s game”.

The identity of the person behind BronxZoosCobra’s tweets has not been revealed.

Citing the animals from the animated movie Madagascar as inspiration, the “snake” claims to be a huge fan of Tina Fey, but is not so keen on Donald Trump or those who work on Wall Street.

Listing location as “Not at the Bronx Zoo”, it has “visited” tourist attractions including the High Line, the museum of Natural History and Ray’s Pizza.

One of the more recent posts played on New Yorkers’ fears of the scaly escapee.

“It’s getting pretty cold out. I think it’s probably time to crash. Oh look, an apartment window someone left open just a crack. Perfect!”

Zoo officials said on Monday they were confident the adolescent Egyptian cobra was hiding in a non-public area of the Reptile House but conceded that finding it would be difficult.

The zoo closed the reptile house “until further notice”.”

If it’s at large in the Bronx, I would suggest that it’s in more danger from the locals than the locals are from it. It’s probably just laying very low somewhere.

Oh this gets way more interesting when you look at @BronxZooKeeper ‘s hunt for him, as well as @NewYorkMongoose ‘s! Whose going to get to him first?

Last I checked, @NewYorkMongoose has been stalking our Cobra by disguising himself in various forms during his trips on the town.

I do believe the wayward teen reptile was found today…in the reptile house at the zoo. They lured her out by laying out some cage bedding used recently by a mouse. I do like the idea of a cobra at the top of the Empire State Building admiring all the delicious-looking mouse-people though. ;-)

I was wondering of there's an age restriction to this show? Msg from Abeo: The performance will not be suitable for under 12’s.

We were lucky enough to see Infamous last night and hubby thought this particular show was the best tour so far. We usually spend the car ride home discussing what we’ve experienced and how Derren fooled us but this show is so cleverly put together we were stumped as to how a lot of things could possibly be achieved. Derren was on top form never missing a beat, he’s always had the talent and ability to entertain his audience but this show will emotionally engage you from the very beginning …you just can’t help but be moved by some of the things he does and says……I’m not going to say anymore as Derren always asks us to “keep the show’s content a secret” and I would hate to spoil it for other people especially as Derren’s performance always stays with me long after the show has “ left town” and I know a lot of people feel the same way. @ Robert Perkins …yep I agree…we had to resort to eBay this year but I’m so glad we did ….it was well worth it. Have you tried to get tickets for London? Compared to some of the ebay prices it may work out cheaper. We both fell in love with Oxford by the way…awesome place beautiful atmosphere. Sue and Paul

Good to see Derren and Andy on a project together again. Anyone know if it will it be filmed (for those of us not in the UK)?
