Over the last two weeks Derren Brown has been struggling with a difficult throat condition.

This has now reached a point where he is unable to speak above a whisper and it is with great regret that he will be unable to perform on Wednesday 31st July and Thursday 1st August.

He is very concerned for his fans and is determined to be back on stage in the shortest possible time. The theatre will be getting in touch with all ticket holders.

Richard Hayden says:

Very sorry to hear about your voice Derren. Any chance of an extra performance for these ticket holders? Spent ages trying to sort good tickets and now it seems unlikely we’ll be able to get good seats again in the remaining shows.

Brigitte says:

We were lucky enough to go to his show on Monday 29th July and even then it was clear that Derren was not well but he gave a wonderful performance and we are still battling to understand how he managed the fantastic tricks/illusions. To perform to such a high standard when he was clearly not well is yet another feather in his cap and an acknowledgement of his professional perfectionism. Any disappointed fans can rest assured he is NOT faking especially as there was a note on the Stage Door apologising for his not being able to come out because his throat was really bad.

Ella Warren says:

Hope you’re feeling well again soon Derren.
Please please please will you consider adding a couple more dates in London to replace this cancelled show??
All of the tickets for the price I bought mine at for tonight are sold out for the rest of the London tour! And I can’t make it to the Brighton tour as I am a student midwife and am on placement throughout all of February and March.
Please add some dates for the end of August/September, would make my year!!
Thank you. Ella

@Callum Burton – it says at the top 1st Aug too so looks that way unfortunately.

Derren was struggling with his voice when I saw the awesome Infamous in early June.
I wish him a speedy recovery and hope his busy schedule allows for some time off to fully recover following this epic tour.

Shirin says:

Dearest Derren,
I really hope that you will get well very soon. I know that you will. And I know exactly how you feel because over the spring I totally lost my voice for three days (though mine caused by a virus). It is terrible, yet so surreal! Your voice is treasure Derren! You are not like any other “magician” who would hardly even use their voice on stage.
By the way, I used some herbal medicine and got much better. Try:
Dry Jujube (make like tea in a pot)
small violet flower tea
another dried flower strangely called marshmallow
(all part of old Persian herbal remedy)
Also strangely enough, it really worked for me when I started discussing something very interesting with a friend on the third day, exactly by only whispering (I don’t mean actually speaking, but trying to speak and have a conversation!) … by that night my voice was back! strangely enough!
Please take care. You really work too hard.

KGB (transl. Keep well,Get well & Be well)

Hope you are doing well. My thoughts are with you. May you be in the pink of health and remember not to over do it. Take time for relaxation. Meditate over some Whale, dolphin music or Bach, Vivaldi or Mozart if you prefer. Take in plenty of fluids, but in moderation of course. Don’t want you having a Water-intoxication situation, now. Take your Vit. A’s, B’s, C’s and the rest of the alphabeth. And don’t forget about the Omega 3,6 &9.

Many blessings.

KGB Derren, KGB.

Sorry to hear about your throat/voice, Derren. I hope all goes well tonight. I have a ticket for tomorrow’s show (Saturday 3rd) but would understand if you need to rest so don’t feel too down about it. 5 months is a long time with no proper break. Can’t wait to see the show soon at some point!

Was really disappointed when we were informed that derren was too unwell to perform on Thursday 1st August, but managed to book again instead for the following week on Monday 5th.
Fantastic show, derren at his best! But no show at the stage door afterwards, real shame as I would have loved to have said hi and congratulate him on his success as we used to work together in Croydon when we were both in our teens!

Would really appreciate it if someone could pass this email on to derren.

Love and best wishes mr brown
