OUT-OF-BODY EXPERIENCE RECREATED

Experts have found a way to trigger an out-of-body experience in volunteers. The experiments, described in the Science journal, offer a scientific explanation for a phenomenon experienced by one in 10 people.

Two teams used virtual reality goggles to con the brain into thinking the body was located elsewhere.

The visual illusion plus the feel of their real bodies being touched made volunteers sense that they had moved outside of their physical bodies.

It’s not the real out of body experience I think. There’s also research done on the light people see (at the end of a tunnel) during a short period of being dead.

I think you have to do the experiment to really see if it would have worked for yourself in this case. To me it does not seem to work for myself. That it is all in the mind is known I think.
I once have felt as been torn out of my body via the top of my head when I was a child … that was a scary experience .. it really felt as if been pulled out of my body .. I struggled to stay inside … there was a little person involved with a enormous head (or big hair due like Bobby Farrel from boney m) who was sitting next to my bed. For some reason I put trust in that little person. No telepathic stuff or such for sure, probably a way to escape .. although I just put my trust in that person without thinking. And then I fell asleep.
But the feeling of being pulled out of my body … never felt it like that again. I do feel out of my body quite often, or better said .. still attached but not inside … my brain often stores memories which show something I could not have seen that way as it shows it from another perspective .. sometimes the opposite position. Fascinating.

My body will call me back though .. when I get out too far … lots of body systems wont work anymore … heart rate slows done way too much … etc etc .. Maximum overdrive of the mind apparently does cause that feeling sometimes as well as being out of the body. Maximum overdrive from another center in the brain than there were your normal bases is. It’s the lighter system I prefer, sometimes too much.

Our toolbox .. upstairs .. be carefull with it .. read the manual inside … and then play … we did not all get the same tools .. which can lead to weird, at times very unhealthy interactions .. not being aware of this .. don’t ever loose track of yourself …

I thtink alot of people confuse out of body experiences with lucid dreaming also …which i find annoying cause they are two seperate experienced events and totally different.

All i will say is…i dont wish for anybody to have uncontrolable oobe cause it;s nasty and horrible 8 times out of the ten times it happens…and you know what there is another so called scientific explanation for it called the *exploding head syndrome* wich has up till today still an unknown (bio-genesis)origin but they dare say *patient” needs only reasurance that it is not harmfull is often enough*….so, not very helpfull either… :-/

This isn’t the first time out of body and near death experiences have been recreated in a non-near death situation. Pilots going through G-force training often experience it when they pass out due to lack of blood to the brain. They often see lights at the end of the tunnel ect. I would find a link to back up this comment / be more articulate if it weren’t the opening hours of the new year and i weren’t so inebriated

The thing that more often occurs I think is that other people have the feeling that others are out of their body …. and will try to put that person back inside … it’s not the out of body real thing but more like loosing him/herself .. out of brain experience .. hahaha … well, part of brain that is …

Lucid dreaming is quite interesting as well … had a few times which came close but just not completely lucid .. although I have to say that I have heard that my other part is orchestrating the dreams so that this other me will be in on it … so one half is toying the other .. Some have this during the day without realising at times I think .. It’s not others we struggle the most with but our other self ..

Which leaves us with a curiosity that Professor Layton himself would be loath to investigate, who is the experiencer who experiences. Could it be that they are one and the same thing?

I was wondering of there's an age restriction to this show? Msg from Abeo: The performance will not be suitable for under 12’s.

We were lucky enough to see Infamous last night and hubby thought this particular show was the best tour so far. We usually spend the car ride home discussing what we’ve experienced and how Derren fooled us but this show is so cleverly put together we were stumped as to how a lot of things could possibly be achieved. Derren was on top form never missing a beat, he’s always had the talent and ability to entertain his audience but this show will emotionally engage you from the very beginning …you just can’t help but be moved by some of the things he does and says……I’m not going to say anymore as Derren always asks us to “keep the show’s content a secret” and I would hate to spoil it for other people especially as Derren’s performance always stays with me long after the show has “ left town” and I know a lot of people feel the same way. @ Robert Perkins …yep I agree…we had to resort to eBay this year but I’m so glad we did ….it was well worth it. Have you tried to get tickets for London? Compared to some of the ebay prices it may work out cheaper. We both fell in love with Oxford by the way…awesome place beautiful atmosphere. Sue and Paul

Good to see Derren and Andy on a project together again. Anyone know if it will it be filmed (for those of us not in the UK)?
