Which one of you will get the highest score?

That’s all.

Fosca says:

Hey, I found this a year ago, and I thought I was late to the party, otherwise I’d have mentioned it myself! I generated 5020 grains of rice and a vocabulary level of 50. Then I got distracted by Family Guy.

Good advertising, I love that site! Remember there are loads of challenges, not just words.

Level 37 was today’s high score. Hmph.

September 30, 2009 at 2:01 pm
JayKay says:

Great fun. I failed at 180 though. It’s kinda hard to talk on the phone and answer the questions! What a thoughtful idea. Tar. I may actually become addicted to it.

Jo Pedder says:

great cause and concept, shame the answers to questions are invariably incorrect – mostly the answers are associations, rather than definitions. Got annoyed and gave up. Maybe I’m just a pedant.

I used to play it quite often about a year ago, I’ll definitely go back to it :)
Here’s a similar one –> www(dot)freepoverty(dot)com. Instead of rice you donate water cups for your geographical knowledge

Mallard says:

I love this game, on top of all the mind-expanding charity fun there’s the added game of chance as to which voice you’ll get doing the pronunciations. About two thirds of the time it’s some horrible nasal American male voice, but for that other glorious third you get a lady who often sounds as if she’s bordering on orgasmic.

If you’re really lucky you might get to hear her say ‘touchwood’.

Oh dear, it is addictive! But it is for a good cause. I gave it a rest at 1080. Lots of old Scottish and Norse words in there. Good fun.

Nopke says:

Hm … it’s not really .. erm .. proper to have the dictionary next to you huh? And for how long does it go on man … I stopped .. For those who like to test their word-archive (up there or in that book) … can be fun.

It’s a weird site.

Is Brown going to give you an exam on the words in due time?

Thanks for posting this Coops.

I just got to 3000 grains and only managed level 35 at my highest point, I is dumb, lol.
My mind isn’t up to much recently and it started to give in, so I decided to stop for now.
I have put a link on my facebook though, so hopefully other peeps will get involved too.

Mathew says:

How is this in any way a good cause? It’s just another internet meme tugging on your heartstrings.

I would happily sign a petition to give ALL available rice to help end hunger. If the ‘sponsors’ have spare money to give to charity, why don’t they just GIVE it instead of getting us to play silly games?

If the game was actually something productive, could help produce more rice or make some money, then it would be ok – but it’s just a waste of time. They want me to waste my time with word games in exchange for them donating a little bit of money which they could just give anyway!

And they could easily make a much better job of selling the advertising space, which would at least be a valid way of making money to give to the charity. But they don’t because – it’s just a bunch of cock.

You’re all really clever. Sorry: cLevA. I was secretly proud of my 37 score. 60 is just inhuman! In a wonderful way, of course. Well done you eloquent people :-)

September 30, 2009 at 6:42 pm
lucepuss says:

@Mathew. Calm down, it’s just a fun way to raise awareness. Yeah they probably could just give all the rice straight to African villages, but it would mean that I’d have to sit in work for the next three hours with no fun way of wasting time. It’s just a wee game, not doing anyone any harm! x

Nopke says:

I just donated 1 rice thingy. Good for the tax stuff end of the year.

Oh, for god sake, I donate to charity, I give money (and yes, they still will have to buy the rice but hey …).
And awareness? We already that. It’s been all over the news for years already .. already since I was a kid.

Nah, it’s a good site, but hey…

Now then … who wishes to donate one of those round thingies to me … I’ll give you riddles and you have to pay for each riddle one of those round thingies to me. I think that’s only fair, I mean .. riddles dont come cheap or easy .. I have to work my mind to give mental satisfaction to you (ow .. that’s sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?)

Okay .. just donate the freaking rice then .. have it your … Coops way then!

flapjack says:

OK I’ve got as far as 10210 grains of rice on this round which added to my previous score of 1000 on english vocab ain’t so bad.
(I is got that score by doing the questions what is all about inglish grammer!) I was better at French than I thought I was and my Art history ain’t bad either!
My world geography’s crap though… kept confusing Iran and Iraq which means I should use this knowledge and run for President of the USA!

Ah hang on a second, are we scoring this as a levels thing or a number of grains of rice banked thing? I think I need to go back to the drawing board…

Officially I have no life! Got up to level 60 and thought i’d keep bashing away, but nowt happened and just kept getting up there again and again and coming back down. Forgot to look before I gave in finally, but last time I looked it was over 2000. It’s not Stephen Fry’s standards, but I’m not Stephen Fry. Thank Gawd for teh abundance of old Scottish words – even if they’re not how I’ve been spelling them! Now, I can finally fetch Mart’s present and card, but I had to apologise to him for missing his birthday at teh stroke of midnight – because of this!!! Hell, it’s for someone’s supper. Good cause. I seemed to get more rice grains for a lot less effort and time earlier though, but then I didn’t notice that there were levels to aim for at the time, so Hell knows what I got first time around. Didn’t you get really arsed off when you got one wrong and it stole a level or even two off you?! Especially when you’re on 60 already and it knocks you back to 58 and 57. Jesus, don’t let me back on this tomorrow – which will actually be today, as I stayed on it so long! If I were married, I might be threatened with divorce tonight! I must go sleep. After another bit of birthday cake.
