Derren Brown reaches one million followers on Twitter

****Competition has now closed****

If you follow Derren on Twitter you may be aware by now that he has just passed the one million follower mark.

To celebrate the occasion, DB has devised an ingenious competition with the prize being a trip to The Ivy in London for dinner with Derren.

Watch the video below for full details (Your entry must be made via Twitter, not in the comments below!):

****Competition has now closed****

Derren: Number was 758 031 (looked at my Mac and noted time & date when I thought of competition & needed a number. 7:58 on 3 Jan).
Found a few that are close. Will keep looking later & announce winner.

Hello there!
Unfortunatelly I’m from Poland and arrival to London would cost me much more than you may think.

Even then I really enjoy your person, books and movies.
I have thought also that your short YT film is a clue to guess the right number.
I suppose it’s not only numbers called by name, but even these hidden in names like “January”.
So my proposition is:
128041
“January”, “February”, “80 – euro for travel” (or 18? you’re too native speaker for me πŸ™‚ ) “4 steps” and “1 guess”
You did repeat of “1 guess” twice as if it could be doubled, but I’d rather ommit it for place of these two months said at the beginning πŸ™‚

Have a nice day!
And good luck!

January 6, 2012 at 1:11 am

Too bad I live in Australia (but cheers for the shout out!). I’m thinking that higher numbers are less likely to be picked. Plus generally you are suppose to avoid 3 and 7 because most people pick that right? So I’m guessing 681,005. Not that this is a valid entry but…

January 6, 2012 at 4:46 pm

Might a suggest that an easier way to go about finding the winner would be to restrict your search to #DBMillion and the first three digits of the number (the no. of digits precision can be altered depending upon the number of results although it is important to consider alternate spellings such as using a comma e.g. 256,457)

Here’s an example search to show what I mean https://twitter.com/#!/search/197%20%23DBMillion Three digits should work so long as the no is > 99,999 and seems to be a good density of results with the current number of entries

The number is 1112 – Happy New Year

I am mental so even if you did accept this comment as a legit entry you would want to pass me by for your own good.

Anyway I would feel far to self conscious having lunch with you in a public place. If you fancy a take away at yours or mine and you are happy to dine with a fruit loop then by all means drop my number in the hat.

I am not mad on Kebabs though.

Carol Iversen says:

I don’t think he would put the answer subliminally in the video or else he would have 1 million correct answers! Unless he wants a rest for the evening so will pick a person not giving that answer and therefore resistant to mind control suggestions so he can have a night off and a real conversation for once.

Just wondering if you’ve ever worked with agoraphobics, or any other phibias. As i watched the VID i couldn’t help but think that the number would be hidden in it. and now since the competition is over and the number is known here’s what i thought. On the card that says # DB MILLION the # is 7(thought it might be 4 or 7 but i thought of 7 first), D is 5 (5th letter of alphabet), B is 8, M is 3 and I is 1. I think he marked the start and end of it with his fingers. Couldn’t figure out where the 0 came from but then again this all might not make any sense and he could have just gotten the number from time and date =)

alan says:

Identify a pre-selected number between 1 and 1,000,000. HummmÒ€¦ While weÒ€ℒre playing mission impossible Derren. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is as follows: Code name Experiment. Part, the Deux.
Given that an MRI scanner can, by virtue of the reduced mental activity revealed, demonstrate that an individual is recalling incidents from memory. Rather than constructing a scratch-built narrative. Could hypnotism nullify that give-away effect?
No pressure. But the future of the species may possibly depend on failure.
p.s. If you’re ever on a vessel and the Captain says, “Cast off forehead”. Get off quick.

January 12, 2012 at 3:31 pm
