Prank at Bristol Zoo
Those of you who have read Tricks of The Mind may remember the spider prank I played with a flatmate. He’s just rather brilliantly amused himself at Bristol Zoo and sent me this little film of the result. It’s priceless. Go and see it if you’re nearby. It’s a lovely zoo – I used to take myself there every year on my birthday – and tell the staff you think this is a fine and witty feature. It’s still there apparently.

Interesting stuff, funny how nobody noticed a guy with a camera gawping at them through the glass, i guess they just ignore it after so many thousands of visitors to their enclosure!
Childish AND amusing. That’s what we like to see. And here’s me stuck in Libreville, Gabon (my 107th country visited this year) hanging out at the docks waiting for a boat to Sao Tome like some common prostitute.
Can anybody tell me what exactly the spider prank was? I apparently forgot that….

its no good, try as i might i can’t see anything out of the ordinary?? i’ll watch again (18th time) just in case i missed whatever it is i keep missing :-/

In a museum near Lake Malawi, theyhave a big wooden door. The sign says that beyond the door is the most dangerous animal on the planet. Everyone gets very excited and scared and starts guessing what it is. And then of course the door opens onto a mirror. Lovely 🙂

Ah! I lived just round the corner from the zoo last year, will have to make a trek up through Clifton soon to see if it’s still there (never been to the zoo, been living there years now… my housemate even works there!)

Hm .. so it is the text that I need to look for tomorrow … Now I can not not having seen it. I hardly ever read those texts being at the zoo, only the name of the animal .. But it is the visitor’s that read the text that makes it funny … Yes, I know .. I have to watch it before commenting …
The spider trick was funny .. I remember it from the book.
I wonder how long the zoo will keep it there then … normally they take away that type of stuff after noticing it, unless they are in on it. Or when Derren’s flatmate’s carreer took a weird turn and he ended up working there … Hm, maybe not weird.
Hot bladder … that must be a case of prostate cancer or blatter infection … Yes, or just a simple case of needing a wee … quite in line with Brown I’d say.
ohh yeah I remember that prank I re read that bit of the book about a month or so ago, very hilarious 😀 Can’t watch the vid clip atm, stupid computer is slow beyond belief, it’d make a snail look like a super fast athletic runner!!! Will watch it asap

Ehehehe …. so, no-one banged on the glass while making noises and weird facial expressions to get a response of those humans? They might respond by placing theirselves to the window and copy your gestures and such! As far as I have heard from a few who are at the zoo sort of all the time these creatures are known for doing that … They seem to have some sort of intelligence .. they sort of use sort of carts for carrying around their youngsters .. could be due to their weak physical condition as well, not sure .. Just study them for a while .. they make lots of sounds but seem to rely on non verbal language for the main part .. Scientists say that we may be related to them, the missing link .. I’m not sure if I am happy with that .. watching them …

In adolescence the offspring adopt a more nocturnal lifestyle and engage in ritualized activities of drinking fermented liquids and dancing to rhythmical sounds which scientists believe may help them to find a mate.
Humans usually pair for life retiring from most social activity and moving into brick or concrete nests once a partner is found. Pairs produce and average of 2 young.
They are known to adopt other species as pets, particularly dogs (canis lupus familiaris) and cats (felis catus)
The Human diet is very adaptable to regional crop varieties and personal tastes with some groups able to live almost exclusively on chipped potatoes and sugary drinks.
Groups of humans are often fed by unrelated individuals in exchange for tokens made of paper metal and plastic.
With the world population increasing by an estimated 200,000 every day, the species is not currently considered endangered.
What a great sign, I wonder who thought of that.
