Patrick Page lives on
I’ve just heard the very sad news that Patrick Page has passed away. Magicians worth their salt will be know that Patrick was a genius of our craft, and a famously generous man. I knew him a little from his consultancy work on some of my projects: he was a brilliantly rude, sharp-witted, sensationally likeable Scot, better at magic and more knowledgeable than any of us. All of us at Objective are devastated by the news. For some time, the sheer force of his personality has kept him going through illness, but now he doesn’t need to fight any more. At the same time, as with any powerfully creative force, he will live on strongly and defiantly through his work and the legacy he leaves. There’s a bit of Patrick every night in Enigma, and in countless other performances happening now across the world.
It is an honour to have known him, and to continue to know him through his particular genius. Much love to his friends and family from all of us.

‘…but now he doesn’t need to fight any more’ oh I bubbled a wee bit there… He obviously has a load of respect from you guys.

I don’t think anyone could have paid Patrick a much higher tribute than your post here, Derren. I’m sure he’d have been touched.

A true legend. He will be missed.
Sad news indeed, Pat’s presence in a performance is worth studying in its own right even if you choose not to appreciate his effects.
Performing myself this evening, albeit a little bit less grand (ok, a LOT less grand) than Enigma, will have to work in a little Page flourish into the show in tribute.
Very touching to read a genuinely heartfelt tribute to a great man. So long, Patrick.x
A very sweet and thoughtful post from Mr Brown.
Patrick u will be missed thankyou for inspiring me to pick up a wand
Another true master of our wonder-filled art!
such wonderfull words. My eyes are leaking just a tad. I might watch magicians tonight. Not the whole film.. just the auditions, and Pat’s ciggy swallow. Like the man said.( and Im parahprasing here )…There’s no trick to it you know.. The man is just pure magic.
And, I doubt we will see his like again. 🙂
I never had the pleasure of meeting the man personally, but I know he touched a great many peoples hearts and left a world of smiles on this earth.
Great tribute
Very sad to lose such a great man. i was lucky and spoke to Pat a few times. He was a walking Encyclopedia of Magic and influenced so many great Careers in Magic. He will be a legend such as the Alexander;s and the Thurston’s in our history. We have lost a great man.
The extent of Pat’s knowledge was only exceeded by his generosity in sharing it..
Goodbye to an old friend, sorry it was me to buy dinner next.

RIP Pat.
What a terrible loss to the magic community. I only have to glance through my library to see references to Pat all over the place. He was a creative genius who was more than happy to share his thoughts, ideas and views on many aspects of magic. He will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace Pat.
Time to watch those old trick a tape vids again – the man was a genius and we shall all be the poorer for his passing – but richer too for the fact that he shared his time with us all in so many ways
Although it’s a cliche to say this at times like these, it’s truly the of an era.
From one kilt-wearing magus to another, thank you, Pat, for all that you gave magic. I’ll raise a glass of Glenmorangie in your honor and memory at the Magic Castle this weekend.
At The Linking Ring, the official publication of the I.B.M, we would like to pay tribute to Mr.Page in the Broken Wand in the March issue. If anyone has a newspaper obituary of Mr. Page, I would appreciate having it to help write his obituary. We have lost another magic legend, along with John Booth, Martin Nash, Carl Ballantine, Ali Bongo, James Cellini, and others, over the past ten months. Let’s all try to tell other legends how much we appreciate them, while they are alive. We all regret making that call or sending that note to Mr. Page. Let’s not let that happen; say Thank You to a magician today.
Patrick was my mums cousin and a lovely, quick witted man. We last saw Pat at a family wedding last September where he was on top form regaling us with his famous ‘Stories’! Thank you all for your lovely comments, I have passed them on to his children Jeanette and Jeremy, R.I.P. uncle Pat xxx
His spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of all the people he has inspired over his lifetime.
A moving tribute Derren to a wonderful man who’s legend indeed lives on.
My thoughts go out to Patrick’s family and friends at this sad time,
Jo
He was with me for my T.V shows right to the end ,My advisor, my teacher, & my very good friend
Cabaret, parlour, close up or stage , He could do everything there was only one Patrick Page ….
some people perform Magic, some people are Magic, very few people have both of these qualities
Patrick Page was one of those few ….

I never met Pat but he was of invaluable help when, on numerous occasions I spoke to him on the telephone. Sleep well dear Pat.
God Bless Pat, and a fitting tribute there DB.
I alway remember Pat assessing a performance by an amateur once, and he turned round and said “In Scotland we have a word that… SHIT!”. God bless the humour and wit, he will be sorely missed.
Thank you all for your kind comments.
We all know that Patrick was a dearly loved man.
My name is Philip Pound and I am Patrick Page’s son in law. If anyone wishes to pass any messages to his family please feel free to send them to me on my email philippound@yahoo.co.uk.
I will see that his daughter Janette, son Patrick and grandson Robert get the messages
Sorry I meant to say his son Jeremy.

Iain,
Patrick said “shite” and it was on the Channel 4 programme Faking It when asked to comment on the fake magician’s performance a few days before he was due to be put to the test.
Patrick came in as the guru and worked wonders.
Patrick was very proud of his performance. This was the only Faking It programme where the fake managed to fool ALL THREE OF THE JUDGES.
One of the judges was Paul Daniels. No mean feat and Patrick achieved this in just a few days.
That fake magician is now working in Scotland as a real magician. It changed his life. I know that Patrick went to see him perform at the Edinburgh festival in 2008.
sad news,i did work as an illustrator on one of his latest books,it was a pleasure and an honour to had that chance. A true gentleman….
