Enjoy the show!
Henry re-watch the show and while doing so take a while to think about what Derren says he stands for. Then take a deep analysis of how that all works. You’ll see there is no need to be cynical and more reason to be impressed with Derren’s understanding of human behaviour and how he can use that knowledge to control a person actions. Do it so you can un-become a cynic and re-become that person who admires the wonderous Derren Brown. 😀
For the record, my friend’s brother knew Matt’s girlfriend several years ago, she was certainly not an actress, just a sweet girl from Leeds. Then if you were to add Matt on Facebook i’m sure you would see that all his family and friends for the show were indeed his real family and friends. Do you think Derren was lucky enough to find a full family (and girlfriend) of actors? It just doesn’t happen.
If you don’t believe in suggestion, hypnosis and the like, then i’m not sure why you’re on this site in the first place. I would suggest the Daily Mail’s website instead.
Cheer up Henry,
If it’s more comfortable believing the whole thing was faked maybe you already know you are capable of more
We’d be stupid to believe everything without question but equally we shouldn’t refuse to accept anything we can’t explain or do ourselves. Having an open mind doesn’t make you a sucker.
There are many things science is yet to explain or even discover, surely you could see from the show that believing in yourself and just trying to succeed has it’s own rewards.
Surely it’s better to try than to give up, no matter what your cynical friends say.
Try giving yourself a break, set yourself free from the comfort of a world without possibilities.
Try living dangerously !
😉
just read a few of the comments from last nights show – some people just haven’t understood how good and what a rare piece of tv it was. some people have missed the point all together – it wasn’t what matt did wrong in the cockpit – he isn’t a pilot – matt in his mind over came trememdous fear and put his self in the position of responsibility for hundreds of lives.
derren hit the nail on the head – we go through life wanting to change and do great things but are too scared to live up to the responsibility of making these decisions – the show was about just going for it – make mistakes -learn by them – make the decisions /steps to go where you want to go – nice one derren – brilliant as ever
Let me clarify – I no longer believe in MYSELF
I once lived a much more daring life, but now I find myself weighed down with cynicism, parental responsibilities, severe financial hardship and other personal issues.
I’m sure that I of all people could do with a healthy injection of self-belief, and I do believe in the power of the mind and positive thinking, but the truth is that every day I am trodden down by some very harsh realities that I live with constantly with no support.
In the past have tried some retraining in the form of Paul McKenna’s “Change your life…” books and CD’s – but how can I affect change in myself when my nearest associates have no belief and constantly weigh me down?
I want to change – I want a better life for my partner and my children – I want to believe
Loved it Derren ! watched this last night and thought it was fantastic, you really changed that guys life…Damn i really want to see you live again now 🙂
‘Ayden’ wrote: ‘ Its a bit like when someone says they want to be a writer.. but asked what they’ve ever written they reply – Nothing. Conclusion – You don’t want to be a writer. ‘
i.e. We are what we do. Do something different, don’t blame.
Try with a good attitude to make improvements and don’t give up. We are successful simply by not giving up, not seeing setbacks as failure, but the giving up as the failure. We’re all genuinely sorry to hear you feel life is hard and people bring you down but giving up made it easy for others to do this and for you to be failure.
Try Just one little step at a time, hope to improve your situation and try to do it for yourself, self respect will follow and you’ll feel better.
Many people would be jealous of you, what kind of Dad you are is your choice;)
Whether a random comment on the broad sprawl of the internet really matters or not I don’t know, what I do know is that I am choosing to believe in myself again.
My confession is that on broadcast night I did not see the whole show – let me explain – I wanted to watch it all but in the company of a naysayer I did not have the confidence to stand up and be counted, I only saw it from the end of the straightjacket sequence when my companion went elsewhere, and even then I was moved by Matt, because I know how personal transformation can work… my previous comments were based solely on having already given up on myself, thinking I’d thrown my chances away…
Well I rewatched the show alone, I trust Derren, I always have, I apologise if my original ‘I want to believe’ was misleading.
So not only do I want to believe, but now I CHOOSE to believe.
Thank you Derren, thank you all.
Great stuff Henry, Good man.
I think it’s fantastic you chose to watch it with an open mind and felt the benefit immediately.
It’s not essential to change your associates outlook on life and it’s great if you can stop being affected by them.
Give them plenty of time to adjust their perceptions and don’t try too hard to convince them – shrug off the old BS 😉 Lead by example.
Carry on making the right choices, we make our own luck.
All the best.

This was an excellent show :0)
