Competition – win some stuff
Derren has set up a chance for you to win some Alton Towers stuff – (OK Coops helped a bit too). Head over to the Competitions page and take a look or click here.

I think acts of kindess should be a private matter that are not boasted about. “Oh look at me! I’m being ever so kind to this needy person I think I deserve a prize”
I understand the sentiment though. At least you’ve moved some lazy people to get off their lard arses and make a difference to someones life. I just hope there is not cheating involved.
I agree 100% Diana but I think they way a person needs proof is going to make people HAVE to cheat. A picture doing the act of kindness AND that days newspaper involved somehow… I cant see a random act of kindess happening when the person just so happens to have a camera and a newspaper on their person (possible but would you really want to take a pic of the whole thing?)… “I know I just saved your life and half your limbs are hanging off, but can I take this pic of us so I can win a bag of sweets” lol but yeah, sweet thought and all, I just think some “You’ve Been Framed” set ups will be happening.
What a lovely idea for a competition Derren. People showing kindness to each other is slowly being eradicated in our world at this moment in time. Sadly, a lot of people are so crippled by fear and insecurity that it’s only making things worse. Kudos to you for trying to adjust the balance Mr B
I’d love to win the fridge magnet and sherbet especially if they’re signed but doesn’t an act of kindness somehow not count if you’re doing it to win something for yourself….couldn’t I do something for someone else without anyone else finding out about it…..Nah, I think I’ll sit this one out but good luck to those who enter. I can’t wait to see what the winner will do….
@ MrWoolf- lol, I likes it 😀 x
It still counts as a good deed if you share half the bag of sweets afterwards.
Actually, this whole concept reminds me of that movie “Amelie”, or that cinematic flop “Pay it forward”.
I think Diana and Josh are right… we should probably do this stuff anyway, and I know whenever I require a camera I never have one unless it’s a cynically choreographed event.
It’s a bit like when politicians plant a tree for a photo opportunity by shovelling a couple of shovels of earth onto the roots after a team of lackeys have already planted the forest behind it.
I know I’ll never win the magnet and the sweets because I’m simply not that organised, but I promise to have a think about what I can do to make people and small furry animals happier this week.
Excuse me if I’m a bit rusty… I’m probably a self-absorbed git most weeks.
If I win I will give the prize to a fan. 🙂
I nearly had a good one yesterday. A sparrow flew into my window and couldn’t fly because it had hurt itself. I tried to catch it so I could rescue it from the cats eyeing it up and to nurse it back to health, but it got away! 🙁 I hope the cats didn’t get it!!
