Finally
I have been made a Saint. Took this photo yesterday in Bruges.
It’s a little way down from the Bruges Madonna in the Church of Our Lady. I had come to see the Michelangelo piece – one of the few of his works removed from Italy – and spotted this on the way out. Look, they even got the hair right.
All hail St Derren.
Holy shit Derren modelled for Michelangelo! Used to be a monk, and conceived a child. A bit of a dark horse.
Mmmm, that could go to your head a bit… blooming Sanctification now…
Great way to spend Valentines Day!
I aint kneeling before you though!
If that’s you, Derren, who’s the infant? The tyke seems hypnotized by your goatee…
Haha, ‘me’ is the title of the image :/
Derren, you ought to post this on totallylookslike.com ^-^ you might get it on the front page 😮
Oh my goodness…it’s definitely ‘you’ without a doubt.
‘Cliff’ will be mortified that you’ve managed to beat him to it however.
Ha ha! This has made my life!!
Uncanny likeness. Not sure who the beardy guy is supposed to be tho….
If only his eyes were brown…
“And lo St Derren did look down at the child and speakth, ‘think of a three digit number…no not that one’, and the child did frown..”
Gospel of St Dawkins, Ch3 v13
that was hilarious Ken! 🙂
quite an uncanny resemblance st Derren
lol – only thing wrong is the grey hair – maybe you should go back and spray paint it blonde – and add a parrot to the shoulder – other wise amazing – well spotted – your saintness. (however i think horns suit u better lol!) xx
Canonised in your own lifetime? Well done! Not even Mother Teresa managed that… :p
awww ickw ba ba!!!!
St. Derren, patron saint of ……… illusion, delusion, misdirection, showmanship, taxidermy and scarily amazing stuff? Where is the link so I can purchase new statuette icon of the above for my shrine?
This only assures that you have lived before and managed to reincarnate as your self. Derren Brown from Middel Age. Apparently you have been monk before. Littel ironic perhaps… 🙂
Hmm, think maybe that should be …. Illusion, disillusion, misdirection, etc.
Don’t suppose you saw two manky whores and a racist dwarf while you were there?
I’m surprised your feet didn’t burn as you entered the church, how did you manage that! But I have travelled around Italy. And I have seen Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, Statue of David and other works and it’s just breathtaking. I recommend it!
And the Italians pronounce it (Me-cal-lan-geo).
Ha ha, uncanny.
Helen, Derren has been actually canonised before his own birth:P Michaelangelo…This is wonderful, I’ve been waiting for this moment for some time now….buahahahahaha!
Thats it im converting back, what more proof could you possibly need! 🙂
Canonised before hes born, now thats what you call effective planning on the parents behalf. Some parents dont even have the school planned by the second date! tut tut
Cheers
Rob
Canonized eh? Can I buy one of those Buddy Derrens now, like those Buddy Jesuses?
Coz I so would.
That’s because you can’t see aura’s Derren .. I can see the difference clearly … very clearly .. between you and this holy person ….. I will not get into details …
You stuck in fuckin’ Bruges, Derren. Did you see the swans?
Ah, Derren, i have to say…if it´s you… then i´m definately turned-converted…oooh yes, you holy papa!
Oh, and I counted .. but they did not get the hair all the same … just count them on this statue’s head and then on Derren’s and they you know …
Btw: this one has this .. this look on his face that make you wanna throw out your last meal again … the type of look that makes you immediately suspect them of horrible things … too detached from their selves so to speak ..
Pre-emptive canonisation?! That’s even more amazing! Though assuming that the statue itself is older than Derren (it looks like it could be – let’s not find out for sure, who needs facts where religion is concerned), maybe it’s a depiction of a previous incarnation. Maybe he’s the second coming. Maybe ‘Messiah’ was a cunning double bluff… Intriguing…
Tash – blonde? when was Derren’s hair blonde?!?
Has a little look of Derren, although the goatee’s all wrong… no landing strip in site. ;o)
Valentines Day in Bruges – how lovely. I love Bruges (bet you didnt go across on the NSF).
xx
I´m rather interested if there are any pictures of michel angelo´s works …if so do share palease…
lol! Uncanny… Those (very lovely) mad staring eyes, about right!
so, the gentleman visits churches.
as *what*, exactly, if i may ask?
*confused*
How did you have the gaul to go into a GASP…CHURCH!!!
I think this deserves another caption competition!
You can imagine a meeting behind closed doors…”right we have given the creationists a hard time lately, lets go and show support.” followed by a room filled with laughter and wet seats all round, while the fake psychics in the room are hiding under the table still incase they draw any attention again. lol
Cheers

stace and christine:
There’s nothing wrong with visiting churches!! I’m atheist, and that doesn’t stop me from visiting cathedrals and churches – even if it is just to look at the beauty of the architecture, sculpture and artwork.
