Such rudeness!
I do apologise. I feel awful. You see, I very rarely get a chance to read the comments on this blog, which I hope you understand, so I had missed the extensive birthday wishes which had poured in over and around that Special Day. In my mind, you were all privately celebrating, or perhaps has arranged some informal international soirée, so it took a tap on the shoulder from the more attentive persons who run this blog to let me know of this extraordinary kindness. So thank you – there were wishes from all over the world, which is really so touching. Thank you thank you thank you. I have never received so many Happy Birthdays in my life and I’m not sure what to do with them all. I shall put what I can around the virtual mantelpiece and on top of the online cabinet and look at them every day.
Happy Birthday to you all too. What a lovely bunch you are.

Aaaww…lol…you are being forgiven Derren!
(i speak for myself fcourse, dunno about the others huhuu)
I was sat alone in a dark, dank place. A party hat sat askew on my head, party streamers laying forlornly around me, and a blower hanging sadly from my mouth…peep peep peep.
A sigh escaped my lips. It had been ages since we all wished the Blessed Brown a hippy burpday yet…nothing.
We tell ourselves that he is busy and doesn’t have the time to take any notice of his online giggling harem. He is after all an “Internationally Famous Person” and not our private property…so with a sob I was about to get on with my life….phone work and say I will finally be coming in….then
Out of the blue Derren says thanks!
Hooray! He does care!
Hats are straighten, blowers blown, work phoned for an extra day off, and more importantly a smile on my face!
Ta Derren!
🙂
No problem Derren – I’m not accustomed to getting thankyou notes for any of the other birthday greetings I send to my friends, so it’s just nice you got round to it at all!
(ps…am a bit worried about that pic though!)
let’s hope he only just sobered up, which is how a birthday should be. Bless.
This blog post has killed my cynicsm for the day, because it’s adorable. That’s so nice.
That Picture makes me laugh : )
Apology accepted! I hope verse 5 didn’t offend too much…
Derren, perhaps now knowing how lovely we all are you could be persuaded to read the comments a tad more often? It doesn’t take long and perhaps we can enrich your life like you, Coops, Phillis, and the rest are attempting to enrich ours. You may even find some intelligence and humour hidden amongst the madness.
Derren Brown probably doesn’t read many blog comments. Now stop worrying and enjoy your puns.
He may utilise advanced memory techniques, but I wonder if Derren’s approaching that age where he forgets how old he is 🙂
SGC: I think we have a winner.
SGC/ Katherine – I hope you were’nt expecting any puns from this quarter… I’m punning on empty!
Awww! Bless. You really do seem like a very nice man………….I’m sure noone expected an acknowledgment DB, what a pleasant surprise when it occurs 🙂
awww how nice 🙂
it’s ok Flapjack, I just didn’t want Karen to stress over verse 5 TOO much, you know?
No! We don’t want Derren in here, he’ll brainwash all of us and we’ll start sending him all our money!!! 😛
aww.. your very welcome Derren.. 🙂
Such a wonderful feeling knowing that you’ve made someone happy with just a simple birthday wish..
So imagine getting 100’s of birthday greetings from all over the world.. wow! It would certainly make my day..
I celebrate my 22nd b’day this month on the 27th.. just so you know.. lolz
xx
SGC – Well anyone who can write that many verses on someone’s birthday has got a potential career with Hallmark cards (if Katherine can up the saccharine content by 300%)!
Glad you liked all the comments, Derren. And thank you for wishing all of us a happy birthday. Mine is on March 9th so I’ll no doubt have a glass or two of vino to celebrate. Hope you did too.
xx
Hope you had a really good day. I (and probably lots of others) were wishing i could give u a birthday hug. xxxxxxxx
xx
Karen, Flapjack: with Karen’s verse-writing abilities, Flapjack’s punning and my relentless goading and misplaced enthusiasm, we have a team that could put Hallmark right out of business. 10% of all profit would go to the makers of this blog, obviously.
We have the start of something beautiful here. Look what Derren Brown got us all on his birthday: new careers! What a nice guy.
Aw, Derren is lovely.
Oooooh… How sweet, Mr. Brown! 🙂
SGC: I appear to have aquired a new name too!
It’s your new pen name. You never know when you might want to remain anonymous.
SGC: If I wanted a pen name I think I’d go for something a bit more racy (my Bookcrossing name is Testarossa) but I thought I’d just be me on this blog. Talking of names I learnt something new yesterday – looked up conure in the dictionary. Suddenly everything makes sense.
It would make even more sense to you if you’d ever woken up halfway through a panicked leap into the air and flailing at nothing at 8am on a Sunday morning, all because the pyrrhura conure in question is hungry and wants to tell you about it, and has the volume of a jet engine shrieking into a megaphone.
Next year, I might mail Derren Brown a new green bird/alarm clock. Won’t that be nice for him? He’ll like that even better than electronic birthday wishes.
Aww thankies.
Although I didn’t expect you to read all the messages/birthday wishes on here, I was kinda expecting a post from you informing us that you were celebrating in Rome, or somewhere similar.
xx
SCG – Regarding putting Hallmark out of business, surely that’s worth doing anyhow to save future generations from that sensation of nausea brought on by reading another syrupy birthday greeting.
I have also attempted to sell poems to Hallmark before… here’s a sample poem I submitted to go inside a Hallmark Valentine’s card…
“Roses are red
Voilets are VIOLET.
NOT BLUE. VIOLET. THE CLUE’S IN THE NAME. WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO? SUPPLY YOU WITH A DULUX COLOUR CHART AND A FLASHING NEON SIGN WITH THE WORD “VIOLET” IN IT POINTING TO A FLOWER WITH A HUE THAT’S NOT QUITE RED AND NOT QUITE ULTRAMARINE? DID YOU COVER SECONDARY COLOURS AT PRIMARY SCHOOL ART CLASS? WERE YOU EVEN PAYING ATTENTION WHEN THEY EXPLAINED THE COLOUR WHEEL, YOU PIG-IGNORANT PHILISTINE? IT’S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE… lots of wuv and hugs etc. etc.”
I never heard back from them for some reason…
Flapjack/SGC/Katherine- you make me LOL! Carry on with the strange mentalness that i enjoy reading!
You’re welcome Derren!
Flapjack, that’s really quite beautiful and I think anyone would be touched by a poem like that. I think you could help Katherine with the saccharine content, and she could help you a lot with the verse structure, which is really the only reason I can think of for Hallmark rejecting it in the first place. I could bring you guys coffee, and make helpful suggestions, and maybe train the birds to recite your work in public. We’d all be rich.
Oh… has it been your birthday then?
ur very welcome x
Aww such a sweetie 🙂
We shall all stop sticking pins in our virtual Derren voodoo dolls now.
Flapjack: Love it!
SGC: Mine’s a cappucino with plenty of chocolate sprinkles.
SGC – Mine’s a decoffinated caffeine!
Hey,
Hee hee, you are forgiven! Hope all is well? Well, I have been busy of late trying to become greener and more environmentally aware! I think with global warming creeping up on us, I think it is very important that we become more aware of trying to lower our carbon emissions, and try and do right by the planet. I think we can all do our little bit extra to try and help! At home I always shut the computer down rather than putting it to sleep, and always turn off electrics rather than leave them on stand by. These tips may seem small, but if everyone pulled together then I think we could really make a difference to the world. Another hint I have is that I now use e-Cards rather than buying paper cards. Not only are you saving money if you choose a free site, but more importantly, you are helping the environment by saving paper, and therefore less trees need to be chopped down! I have done my research and finally found the best free Environmentally Friendly e-Card site. It is really easy to use, which is great if like me you are not very good with computers! I really like this particular site as there is just so much choice. I know e-Cards are not for everyone but think of the environment it really is a great way to help out and do your bit! Love and Hugs, Nicole.
Actually, we expected you too comment to each single comment/birthday wishes …. in your own so very special Brown way … Yes, I’m very sure that almost everyone would have wanted to see your response to his/her message … although .. we should be carefull about what we wish for ofcourse …. LOL …
