IN MANCHESTER
… For a couple of days filming more for a 4-part series for next September.
Here with guest Paul Wilson (Real Hustle) in the 235 Casino looking at ways of scamming. The casino was delightful and extremely helpful, so many thanks to them.
Am currently looking at how to best film a bouncy ball as it bounces around in a glass squash court. Such is my noontime.
cool 😀
really love real hustle, really interesting programme
Ouu I love the real Hustle, fantastic.
A bouncy ball round a squash court? *wonders what it’s for*
Use a fish eye lens 🙂
Before anyone decides to jump in to say it is to play squash, I meant why it was needing to be filmed 😛
Strange… This did occur to me the other day – that Objective Productions should have a collaboration or guest appearance between Derren Brown and the Real Hustle involving a Casino.
Who’s idea was this anyway, Micheal Vine or Andrew O’Connor?
Surround the court with a long series of cameras so you can create a flow-motion ‘Matrix’ style 3D swoop-around-the court augmented with a slow-mo CG zoom into the squash ball mid flight.
Or stick Coops in there with a Handycam and hope for the best. Make sure you give him goggles though 🙂
Just one interesting question – Who Hustled, Who?
As Harry Hill’s – TV Burp’s would say:
There’s only one thing for it! Fight, Fight, Fight!
Single Serving Jack Says:
“Or stick Coops in there with a Handycam and hope for the best. Make sure you give him goggles though ”
I think he might be more interested in a protective cup! 😯 😉
My noontime was spent working out if someone had paid too much income tax this year. I’d rather be in Manchester. (In case anyone is interested, no she hadn’t paid too much tax. Sadly I quite enjoyed working it out. God my life is dull sometimes).
DB looks tired, he needs a holiday.
“The casino was delightful and extremely helpful, so many thanks to them” –
Hm, ofcourse, always helpfull with the same people .. over and over .. it’s just not fair. Maybe I should pretend I’m doing something for a series as well in a casino ..
Filming little balls … oh well … it’s almost X-mas ..
Hm, the other guy looks like someone overhere! Maybe it’s him!
Hello Garmt !!! Hellooo … Oh well … doesn’t want to see me now that he is next to Brown ofcourse … duh .. :/
A Ball in a glass squash court….well well, how about filming it the way the american-chinese guy erm, John (i think) explained with the wii remote camera ….only then using 5 wii remotes …for every wall 1 and 1 aimed at the floor….
then ofcourse you’ll have to montage it nicely after …
OR if you see a way to attach the 3-d glasses to the ball then it would be alot easier to film …
dadadadaa 😉
My noontime is being spent nursing an ear ache 🙁
Im intrigued by your sqaush court / ball dilemma though i must say!
My noontime just flew by as I watched BBC News 24 with the sound off, trying to decipher the in-vision interpreter.
I was thinking along those lines only the other day, if ever there was someone to take on the real hustle guys at there own game surely its derren
My noontime was spent asleep suffering from sudden mystery zero energy virus. Only just enough energy to type. Brain not currently up to squash ball dilemma.
Is noontime what posh people have instead of lunchtime?
serious about the bouncy ball bit?
seen this Sony commercial? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP5J4W5GQ3w
Posh people have a gin and dubonnet and then luncheon. Of course. I had a cheese sandwich.
My noontime was spent counting pieces in several boxes of jigsaws.
But your in Manchester!!! Do nip down the road and pop in for a cuppa or a Christmas tipple or something won’t you. *lol*
xx
Coolness! 😀 Paul and Derren are pretty much my two favorite people on TV (well, them and the Mythbusters), so seeing them work together should be pretty good. I <3 Paul’s skills with cards and dice – I wonder what exactly they were up to in that casino?
Nice pic! Shame the quality of the iPhone’s cam is a bit crappy though!
Hehehe … bouncy balls … would be a good workout .. the real bouncy balls … And then filming it from a distance … (you can zoom in later on), wide angle …
Those poor people still think they were going to work the ball … they will be like those dogs who keep looking to all sides for the ball that got thrown except for the direction it really went …
A bouncy ball bouncing around a squash court. The credit crunch has had a wider impact than I thought. My cynicism is unfounded 🙂
Woo, go Manchester!
Oh Derren, I often ponder the very same thing myself ;o)
xx
I gotta say I think the Real Hustle is a terrible program,
The proposition bets are ridiculous playground bets and if it weren’t for the camera’s the marks would never pay.
The scams they run are occasionally entertaining but never new and the idea behind the show ‘to stop the public being ripped of by the same scams’ is silly and slightly patronising. If it were true it would be different but this crew hasn’t learnt all that in order to protect the public, they learnt it because, like their many viewers they love the art of the con, It doesn’t make them bad people so long as they follow the Golden Rule of the Con and so why dress it up ?
Jess is beautiful but wooden. They ought replace her with a real life Stacy Munroe, someone who is fiercely intelligent, witty and feminine is more important than barbie doll, wether its aimed at marks or TV audiences alike. The two blokes are pretty skillful and they are also smart enough to write a better show than that. Pauls teaming up with Derren is probably the best thing I’ve seen him do yet.
Above your heads..a UFO, a shared man hat???
Who’s the better card magician Dezzy? 😉
Love the Real Hustle! Can’t wait til your new series in September. Wish that other show “Hustle” was still filming. Not the Real Hustle, the fiction series. Good luck with the bouncy balls.
Quite ironic, actually.. I used Derren’s ‘this is the winning ticket’ technique in Manchester 235 a while back, on a new dealer at the ‘perfect pairs’ blackjack game.. got paid out twice on hands I didn’t have.. Thanks DB!
