Feeling a little better
Thank you, Oxford, for bearing with me last night. Feel terrible not being able to sign, but I think it’s working: I seem to be on the mend. Plenty of hot water, lemon and honey, liquorice, whisky, Nurses Day- and Night-, Lansoprazole (for nasty reflux), and a B12 in my arm yesterday afternoon. Getting there. Am now sat in a nice Grismby hotel – yes, they do exist – sipping further lemon/honey blandness with Mr. Coops.ÂÂ
Sorry I missed some of you last night – thank you for the kind wishes sent along with objects to sign. Lemsip appreciated – blackcurrant too, nice move Rob: certainly tastier than the lemon. The Hot Berry and Orange ultimately gets my vote though. Harder to get, but sensational.ÂÂ
A particular thank you to a chap who had flown over from the US to see the show and spoke very nicely to Coops afterwards. Appallingly rude to not be able to say hello in person. I hope the trip was worthwhile.ÂÂ
I eagerly await that moment when you suddenly realise you’re back to full health – and the world bursts with colour once again. As it is, I look forward immensely to the shows even in poor health, as respite from the endless weariness, sweating and coughing. (At least from mine. I can’t do much about yours).ÂÂ
Your well wishes are much appreciated, and thank you again for coming to see these shows where I haven’t been able to thank you personally afterwards.
Think I’ve put on a stone with all this honey.ÂÂ
x
Keep well Derren. Glad you seem to be on the mend. Take good care of yourself xxx
Manuka honey (+20 is best) – cures all ailments, better than any Lemsip.
Ahh, welcome to Grimsby!
A slice of fresh ginger root in your hot lemon & honey livens it up somewhat from “hot, sweet, lemony blandness” to “hot, sweet, slightly fiery, lemony almost-blandness”. Hey at least it’s a bit of variety!
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Hey Derren,
glad to hear your getting better ^_^
get well vibes coming to you from manchester
(have you tried ecanacia yet??? that helps… twinings do a great raspberry and ecanacia tea…. boosts the immune system)
Stephanie x ^_^
Hope the Grimsby show goes well. I met you at the Stage Door in Harrogate and you were the friendliest guy, I’ve seen you live a few times now and this time I convinced 15 of my mates from work to come along, they all had a blast and will be talking about the night of many months 🙂
Had a discussion with someone today and decided that Derren would be the number 1 dinner party guest, not just for the illusion/mind tricks/misdirection aspects but just to have an in-depth chat with.
Hope you continue performing for many years 🙂
Ah the wonderful pseudo swine flu. I do hope it hasn’t been too bad for Derren !
On a side note : Anyone know of any way to get contact Derren directly? Only i’d like to send him a letter… I haven’t written a letter in years, and who better to write to than Derren himself?
Glad to hear that you’re getting better…am awaiting to hear when the world bursts into colour again. Please do let me know, as im currently in the midst of 2nd year uni exams and could do with knowing that the outside world actually exists!
Love and hugs
xxxxxxx
Hey Derren,
Really hope you feel better, i know Grimsby aint the greatest place, you should have come to Lincoln!!! 🙂 but i will be there Friday, would you like any lockets or anything? heheh
Love Sara x
Does anyone else add a dash of cayenne pepper to hot lemon, ginger and honey for cold and sore throat relief? Not trolling here. It’s actually really good, just make sure to make it a small dash and not a spoonful or something.
Feel better soon x
Hey there!
Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow night – take care and wrap a scarf on your neck and keep it warm.
Love you lots – E. X
Hello from Chile, South America :P. I am a great admirer of your work. I’ve seen all of your TV programmes (and live recorded shows too) and even read your books, although it was not easy to get them so far from Europe.
I hope you get well soon and continue with your tour. Any plans of coming to South America? Language is the only problem :S. I hope to see you live one day.
Sebastián
lol to the sweating and coughing, as much as i feel bad for you! At least with man flu and the like you get lots and lots of sympathy too!! x

sam xx
Derren, you are the best. And all the best people should be able to tackle these things easily! I hope you will (and soon).
Telepathic curing love from Finland!
Just send me some of the stuff you received, it probably will help me with my cold as well. You should not think too fast you can’t help mine.
After getting well again, not all people see the world in colour again … with a lot it is the opposite. The fact that you see it in full colour tells something about yourself … your brain will spin pretty nice as well ….
Mine is grey, normally, but I turn on colour now and then to give myself a boost and then get back to the real world and go in with full force, not avoiding obstacles but racing right over them …
Grey can be like silver, people misjudge grey. The white light .. bright ..
Too much to handle for people like you I’m sure. Blinding.
Anyhow, good to hear that the stuff came in to make you feel better. B12 injection .. not eating enough of the right food or just your pityfull self that could not enhance himself anymore to his body so it just stopped seeing to its normal functioning. Ehehe .. just your body I guess then, or you are on B12 therapy now and then. Grains .. bread … wholemeal … Or are you making up stories, to make it look even worse and serious?
Male —- *sighing* ….
Have fun!
Welome to GREAT GRIMSBY, no more negative comments please!!
Get well soon xx Olbas oil works a treat helps u sleep x

Feeling a little better – Hope Little better does not mind 😉
Glad to hear you are getting better 🙂
Get well soon. Have lots of drugs. Lots and lots. Drugs are excellent. x
Saw the show in Oxford last night – absolutely awesome. Shame that you were ill and couldn’t make it to meet people, get well soon!
Night nurse ROCKS!
Glad to see you’re on the up. Here’s hoping you reach a peak of fabulousness on May 23rd in Plymouth.
Brilliant show last night in Oxford, well done for carrying even though you were feeling poorly. It was the first time I had seen one of your shows live and thought it was amazing and hopefully will see you again. I hope you feel better very soon,
Can you add Birmingham to your tour next time, I know lots of people around here that would love to see your show 🙂
The show last night was brilliant brilliant brilliant! Sniffles notwithstanding, it rocked like an elegant behemoth.
yay! so glad to hear your getting better! had it myself (the whiskey really helps 😉 ) I like the cayenne pepper idea though might try that. Also people will stop asking if you have been to Mexico recently
Once the honey and lemon (sometimes augmented with ginger, cinnamon and clove) has started to hit the right places, I tend to find that something exceptionally spicey is the next stop. Vegetarian Thai green curry generally, although a hearty tomato based pasta sauce chock full of onion, garlic, chili, peppers of all colours and spinach also does the trick. Possibly not in your case though, with the whole reflux thing going on.
Get well soon.
If you take B12 shots, just make sure you keep an eye out for side effects….like nausea, or upset stomach (which are common and nothing to worry about.) If they persist, then maybe it would be wise to check them out.
Came to see you in Oxford last night, this was the fourth show I’ve been to and was the best! You never disappoint Derren, and thanks for struggling through it with your illness. You’ll be glad to hear I bored everyone at work raving about it all day.
Thank you for a really memorable night.
Gerard
Glad to hear you are on the mend Derren, the hot honey and lemon often does the trick for my throat 🙂
Hope Coops and co are playing nice until you’re back to full health.
Ciara xx
Ah the great GRIMS-by. *lol*
Glad to hear your feeling a little better, and look forward to seeing you tomorrow night. :o)
Say hi to the birdies when you make your annual trip to TPZ. ;o)
xx
Get well soon!
I wanted to thank you for you fabulous show in Oxford last night. I chose not to take part, and spent today wondering why that is as I normally fairly confident. As I result of this I understand myself more, bizarre as that sounds. Thank you.
Hope you feel better soon! Coming to see you in London in July, can’t wait 😀
I went to the show in Oxford last night and woke up with a cold.
I blame one person…
I’ve tried dozens of pills and potions from various health shops for different ailments over the years and maybe they help some people but they did very little for me unfortunately. I even spent £80 on herbal HRT (yes! I really am that old) and it didn’t work. In the end I went to see my doctor for the real ‘hardcore’ stuff …. I’ve never looked back.
The only thing I do have faith in is something you can buy at the chemist called ‘Vicks First Defence’ it’s a nasal spray which if used at the very first sign of a cold (itchy throat etc) will work like a dream and stop a cold from developing.
Glad you’re feeling a bit better Derren. It must be a huge pressure trying to stay well when you’re on tour, in fact, I’d never really thought about it until now…my tip….don’t kiss anyone aside from your significant other of course……that’s healthy and bloody enjoyable.
please come back to oxford derren, it would be really amazing to meet you next time. gkad you’re feeling better. x
So pleased to read that you are on the mend Derren now just don’t go overdoing it again during the rest of your tour as to deprive others of a truly inspired show would just be unfair on them.
It was my first foray in seeing you live and worth every penny as the set was stylish with a little Victorian vibe to it. The different elements naturally flowed and you handled the crowd and your cold like an ultimate professional. You are a joy to watch and be wowed by and also pleased that you read my rather hastly scribbled letter and appreciated the lemsip.
Thank you also for signing the program with such kind words for me and my fiancee who was equally awestruck by what she saw.
I was so close to catching a frisbee but then just seeing the show was more than enough to make me happy. I look forward now to more tv bits in the year hopefully?
Best of British for the remaining shows and then the big London stint.
Your friends working with you on the show also deserve massive praise as they were friendly before and after the show at the stage door and also completly professional a rare find to have such a dedicated crew with you.
Glad to hear your feeling a little better. Keep popping the pills sure you willl be 100% before long 🙂
