Grimsby
Well again! New-found health and the spanking Portraits Book made Grimsby a very happy place for me. I like to think that the relief that I felt in finding my voice and energy again, was comparable to the relief felt by the group of girls Coops and Andy found urinating by our van in an open car park during the interval of the first night. Group, mind.รย
The shows were fine: the room has a tricky quality found in a few venues, where the front row of the audience is sat quite far away from the stage, and then the rows sweep back and back in a huge, high barn of a room. There are noรย balconies, so the 1300 seats just go back and back. The end result is that on stage, you barely hear any reaction from the audience, which can be a tiny bit demoralising. The lovely people are so far away, and the ceiling so high, that the sound justรย doesn’tรย reach me. Anyhow, they were all very polite at the end, cheered and stood in all the right places, so despite the acoustic setbacks, it was nice to know they enjoyed it. Thank you, Grimsbians.รย
We had dinner after the second show in a truck stop near our hotel. A truck stop! Imagine that. We were looked after royally by the lovely Natalie (and Dawn in the kitchen), and we had bacon and eggs and beans and a sausage and wine: a delicious Shiraz chosen by Coops from the shelves of said truck stop. The rozzers then came in and those of us driving had to decline the wine in case they nicked us. I also took the opportunity to buy myself a ‘fashion hat’, which I’m wearing in the photo Coops took, as well as a 3CD set of Power Ballads for Jennie. That was a fun episode in our fun tour.รย
We have been beset by other illnesses: Simon, our company manager, has managed to get proper ‘flu’, and today’s news is that Iain may be contracting the same nasty virus. I’m hoping it’s just the flimsy whoopsie-cold that I had and not the serious strain that has beset poor Simon, who has had to be replaced for a few days by a new man, Chris, whom we’re meeting soon. This feels like getting a new step-Dad (Simon Dodson = Dodders = Dadders = Dad, you see), so we hope that we like him. Simon, our real Dad, is quite wonderful.รย
Please send your fondest well-wishes and heartfelt prayers to our ailing crew. We could all literally die.
x
aww hope they all get better soon. lovely to read your blogs as usual x
Great show on Saturday night!
Oh Derren, don’t let your lovely crew die. Can’t you convince them they’re all perfectly well?! ๐ Nah, seriously, get well soon everyone and glad you, Derren, are back in good health.
Tour sounds great. Hope and trust that it continues to do well – always enjoy reading how your shows have gone. What was the name of the Shiraz? My tipple of choice – seems I’m in good company!
Take care xxx
“We could all literally die.”
As opposed to non-literally dying?
That aside, very glad that your show is continuing to go well (how could it not?) and fondest wishes to the rest of the crew. ๐
Glad to hear Derren is feeling better, and I hope that everybody is fighting fit again soon.
Much love, kisses and that,
Will.
please don’t (die) not least ’til after Sheffield. Im quite excited you know.
zomg, all of you get better soon ๐
Glad the tour is going well apart from that. Have fun later on!
Great show. Nice to get my name mentioned in the show and to meet you afterwards! cheers.
Adrian
Rozzer??? Never heard that before. Get well soon crew, and recover from your man flu, and then back to enthralling the fans through and through – If I chant it several times, with the odd OM thrown in it might work.
Zinc and echinacea for the lot of you – I keep saying it, but noone seems to take any notice!! Much like my own children actually ๐
Those of you with the offending virus will mend more quickly, and those yet to contract it, might in fact escape it’s devilish clutches. It is likely the same bug which ails you all – everyone reacts differently.
Best wishes to your little family, and particularly hope ‘Dad’ recovers well. You could always drop in on us at home, where my currently poorly little ones are being made better by my cradling and singing to them. Seems to work well, and there is plenty of remaining “cuddle room” on my lap ๐ Watch out tho’, cos hubby does tend to get a bit jealous…………………..
I was there!!! On the first night!!!!!! So fab!!!!!
Noooo! You people can not die!
You see – I’m known here, that I have an ability to cure people from distance just by thinking of them, and I have sented my strongest though to all at your touring family.
You feel better already? See! I told you it would work! ๐
Actually I’m thinkin to take contact to Mr. Randi soon too, so you may be hearing more from me at the future too.
(I’m also happy to be volunteer to your TV-show about paranormal phenomenons, so just send me some e-mail and we can discuss more about that. Finland is even so much closer then Russia whit their Bronnikovs schools and all…)
Get well soon, the Enigma team!
I am looking forward to seeing the show as a birthday and graduation celebration in London, so you all must not die!
good luck derren. X
Can you not all literally die before 17 June, as I’ve got tickets for then. Thank you.
Your show last night was terrific and it was great to see you after the show. Sorry if us in the audience seemed quiet, as you have stated it must have been the layout of the theatre because you were for the whole duration of the show, outstanding.
Please come to Grimsby again next time you tour, or even better come to Lincoln =D
Hope the crew recovers from the plague!
Will do.
Great to meet you – you friendly, sexy MAN! X
Pleased you are feeling well again – I hate to think any friend of mine is poorly.
Lots of Love to you and all there – it was a fantastic show and will certainly be coming back for more another year when you’re on tour – let’s hope so.
For the meantime, I’m waiting for funds so I can purchase your sperkling, spanklingly good book.
Take care… loads of love and kisses – MWAH! X Yours, Elizabeth. XXXXXXXXXX

I am so sorry to hear about the crew they do work so hard, Wish them well. As for the Grimsby Show You were absolutely Superb another Award in the bag me thinks. You are right about the Auditorium, the front seats had been put back about a row or 2 from previous shows.

“I like to think that the relief that I felt in finding my voice and energy again, was comparable to the relief felt by the group of girls Coops and Andy found urinating by our van in an open car park during the interval of the first night.”
Well… you are in Grimsby or Grimesby.
The girls they found probably were just marking their teritory .. They usually do this in groups, yes … รย can tell you haven’t been around chicks too much …
This ‘hat’ .. not bad .. as long as you put the ears underneath .. now you only need to wear something dark and black and you can have a different night in town ..
Next time when you feel the audience is too far away … just ask them to go 2 or 4 rows to the front … all of them … I dont think most of those on the first 3/4 rows will mind sitting on the floor … although the pain in the neck after a while …
So you’re now a bunch on the loose now that daddy is not there to see to it that you all dont do things he himself would not do …
Wow fab show on Saturday night!
I had flown in from Washington DC that morning followed by a train journey up to Grimsby ๐
Hope u all feel better soon xxx looking forward to llandudno tomorrow <[:-)
Fantastic show on Saturday! Please do come to Lincoln next time( apart from anything else, we don’t pee in car parks!!)
Get well soon crew!!
Helen xx
I am so sorry to hear Lain and the manager are flue-ed too…hereรยดs my well-wishes and hope for them to be back on their feet again soon…
itรยดs pretty titty too what you describe as the accoustics on stage…next time maybe a few mics on the side by the audience…ah, what do i know, i just trying to imagine the ruffle….and god, girls pi-ing next to the Van?…didnรยดt they have toilets at the venue, or what??
Anyways, yourรยฉ Hattyhoody looks really nice on you …and indeed as someone said, you can do some disguising with the ears out or in ๐
tata for the piccies and update
x
NO! Not-my-roommate can’t get sick!
Also, everyone knows girls all have to go together. Nopke is right. It’s practically compulsory.
Groups of girls spontaneously loosing bladder control the moment they clap eyes on you… This can only mean one thing – You’ve finally reached boy-band levels of mass fan hysteria.
I hope for your sakes you have more staying power than the average boy band, don’t want to find yourself 2 years down the road with your fickle fanbase saying “remember the stary intense one with the goatee? I used to fancy him rotten. What was I thinking? I’ve got the hots for the cute one from ‘Jonas Brothers’ at the moment…” etc.
That was a ‘flimsy whoopsie cold’ ?? God help us if you ever get full on flu! ๐ Get well soon Simon with your proper poorliness .
Glad you’re better Derren. I want Jennies power ballad CDs but not as much as I want your sexy hat.
x
Saw the show on Sat 16th and it was brilliant. Would recommend it to all. Saw the tour last year aswell. Throughly enjoyed evening and because it was sooooo good , want to tell everyone but will keep it a secret
XXXX
Hope it’s not swine flu! Although no flu is nice
Get well soon everyone! xx
Hi,
Thanks for a great show on Saturday night. It was brilliant getting to meet you after, good to see you are feeling better. Shame you couldn’t hear the noise, cheering and appreciation from the audience, there was lots I assure you!
Thanks again, and good luck with the rest of the tour!
x
I could have cooked you all bacon eggs beans and sausage after first night Oxford.
I wouldn’t have charged you all for it. AND I would have given you more than one sausage.
Okay, that sounds weird, but its true.
Glad Derren is better and has (finally) managed to infect his whole crew (slight exaggeration).
Truck stop indeed.
aww so sorry to hear everyone’s getting poorly that sucks I hope they get better soon.
so glad you’re better now Derren (((hugs)))
you were brilliant on both nights in Grimsby I really enjoyed the show it was fantastic ๐
It was also very lovely to meet you again ๐ I hope I can manage to come down & see you during the west end run (we shall have to see what I can do)
take care good luck with the rest of the tour
Chantelle
Knew something had been nagging at me about this post, have finally realized what it is: “heartfelt prayers”. Hmmm strange request for an atheist. Will do heartfelt best wishes if that will do.
Sod the athiest/prayers debarcle. I am wondering if Shiraz actually goes with a fry up?
Derren, make sure you look after my son and his lovely lady Jennie. I hope you are all feeling better! XX
Forgot to say get well soon to Iain too. Sorry Iain’s Mum. Hope you are all feeling lots better today.
x
Hey,
Just wondering roughly how long the shows last for as I need to book train tickets for the 16th of June show.
Cheers, Steph
Glad you liked Grimsby so much, unfortunately I think you’re the only one ๐
Just like to say thanks for the great birthday when you came to Grimsby on the 28th March 2011 for your svengali tour- *SPOILER REMOVED*
I heard that afterwards you came to greet everyone outside, which is a shame as I was not there, due to a miscommunication when I asked a member of the stage crew and he insisted that you would be too busy to make an appearance after the show and that it would be best if I went home. Hopefully one day you will make another appearance in Grimsby soon.
Thanks for the great birthday, Marticca
