First Night West End
Well, if I may say so, it was a triumph. The Adelphi is a beautiful theatre and the new, glossed-up show looks a treat. I was amazed that we pretty much sold out the first night – many thanks to any devotees who made it a point to come on the very first night. Wednesday is the official ‘opening’ night, with press and glitzy people present.
The comedian Mark Watson came up on stage after catching a frisbee – he is sensational, I’m a big fan. I did my best to hide any excitement for fear it might look like we’d pre-arranged something.
As Mark says “I can promise everyone it was an absolute fluke, except in the sense that I nearly mowed a couple of people down in my desperation to catch the frisbee, as I have every time I’ve seen him. I assumed Derren didn’t know who I was. When I saw this on the blog I nearly had a heart attack, which would have been hard on my heart as it’s only just recovering from being in that bloody box. As ever, an amazing show.”
There you go. Huzzah and Hurrah. Shall keep you posted with anything of interest.

aww it’s nice that things went well. i’ll just continue to be very jealous of everyone who attends your shows then π when you’re coming to Portugal?
x
How can you be surprised it was almost sold out, regardless of whether or not it wasn’t the official opening night? You’re a sensation!
Look forward to hearing all about the rest of it π

Just wanted to say I thought it was a fantastic show last night…genuinely mind-blowing and tremendous fun. If you’d been born 300 years earlier we’d be burning you as a witch…
Aww, how lovely, glad it went well.
Much love
xx
Glad to hear it’s going well! I trust we shall get a recording at some point in this run for our televisual delect?
Also, feel free to edit this out, oh lord of comment moderation, but the link to Mark Watson is broken.
Nice to hear from you again derren, gladits all going well π x
It was a complete success… How you keep topping the previous show is beyond me!
The most enjoyable night i’ve had in a long time… well, just behind walking into scaffolding and knocking myself out of course…!
Seriously, it’s a great show. Congratulations!
Glad to hear it went so well… and I can’t wait for the 26th! Very, very excited now! xx
Uuueeeee… I’m going to Derren’s show on 25th from Latviaaaa… Does anybody knows, where happens Derren’s signings (as I read somewhere here, it happens sometimes after the show)? Phillis, maybe you’ll tell? π Going to die to get his autograph π
– Go to the stage door after the show (Phillis) – the code word is “Box”
Having seen the show in Oxford I’m coming again in July. Excited to see what’s “glossed-up” about it! xx
Went last night, fantastic show, but does anyone know what was the deal with the Victorian London-style fog which enveloped the stage? Did someone burn the toast backstage?
Lovely, glad the first night went fabulous!
Do indeed keep us up to date..tata π
The show was fabulous
And I got to go on stage, woop woop!
Thanks for a great night

‘Outstanding, mesmerising, and magical.’
Thanks! for knowing it’s Oscar Wilde not Darwin π

Eeee, I will be seeing you tomorrow for my Dad’s surprise Father’s Day present π
‘Wednesday is the official Γ’β¬ΛopeningΓ’β¬β’ night, with press and glitzy people present.’
That’s me that’s me I’m going on Wednesday I’m GLITZY. Well, I’ll have a wash, anyway.
I know!
SUPER BONUS! When my bf and I saw Mark Watson coming on stage i almost squaked!
I think most of the audience missed it though although Derren charmingly tried to give him a thimbs up as he left the stage.
Really excellent show, I enjoyed the second half a lot more though and I’d luuuuuuuuuuuuurve to see it again!
My most efervescent congratulations to the whole team
Sara
Could I possibly ask what time the show is finishing tomorrow?
Just wanted to say that I travelled down from Notts to see the first night of the shoe and it was awsome, and definately worth going to see.
Darn. Now I’m going to have to drink that pear cider in the fridge. Damn you all to hell!
I am coming to see it on the 16th of July and cannot explain how excited I am!! π
I’m Mark Watson and I can promise everyone it was an absolute fluke, except in the sense that I nearly mowed a couple of people down in my desperation to catch the frisbee, as I have every time I’ve seen him. I assumed Derren didn’t know who I was. When I saw this on the blog I nearly had a heart attack, which would have been hard on my heart as it’s only just recovering from being in that bloody box. As ever, an amazing show.
Loved it, even though I saw the tour in Glasgow on the 4th June too. Derren never fails to completly confuse and also slightly scare me at the same time. Everyone has to see this show!!! It ‘s the best thing I have ever seen live. Go see it now! The Mark Watson incident was very random.
Derren, you have the most amazingly lovely tour crew too, who I spoke to outside after the show lsat night. Coops is great too.
Might come see Enigma again… If I can afford it.
Thanks again Derren and Crew x

Mark Watson:
That box was just freaky! didn’t realise who you were at the time as I wasn’t exactly “with it”
It was so much fun though! although I must admit I’m feeling a bit dopey today π
I’m not based in UK and it makes me rather unhappy that I can’t see the show…I’m jumping out of my socks when I’m watching the programmes on the TV, I expect the live show would make me jump out of my soul…Oh, one day maybe…
Love Mark Watson, V funny!!
XX
Mark Watson, please do tell us more!! Knowing your act I’m sure you’ll brand it ‘awkkwarrd’!!
Love your stuff too!
Mark Watson needs to be psychic ….. how he can see it on the blog if it wasn’t there yet ….
Oh well … he is a comedian … ehehehe … and Derren … erm .. not all normal either ..
I wasat the show lastnight with my mum for my 25th birthday, Derren i have to say you really blow my mind with your work. i have been a fan since the beginning all those years ago. There are so many things i want to congratulate you for but i wont spoil it for those that are yet to see it. You made me laugh, cry, be amazed and alittle scared last night but i loved every minute of it. If you ever need participants for future events i would be more than willing.
Best of luck with the rest of the tour, and letthe awards come flowing in.

Tomorrow is the opening night? I have tickets but had no idea, how exciting!!! I do hope DB will still be signing afterwards…
Hi Derren!!
Monday was a fantastic show (as I was lucky enough to be able to tell you after the show on Monday night!)
What a great Birthday Present – brilliant show and also a Happy Birthday and a signed book from you!
Sorry for possibly insinuating that you were a stalker …. but you did scare me a bit when i turned round and saw you stood behind me while I was talking to the cab driver! Hope you got home safe!!!
Look forward to seeing the show when it eventually gets to TV.
Much love.
Sarah x x x Now 27 years and 1 day!
Thank you Derren for a truly magical evening. I bought the tickets as a surprise anniversary present for my husband Mike and we both loved the show.
We drove up from Somerset today and driving home now and we’re still talking about the show. Amazing stuff – loved it!
How very dare you ‘gloss it up’! I demand you hot foot it back oop North and show us the glossy shiny version. Not like you’re busy or anything ;-p
What box??? Unless you mean…
x
Have fun tonight everybody! I’ll see you in a week…
A bloody box? Sounds like Derren has started playing around with swords and vanishing people?
So glad I made the long trek to be at Mondays show. It was amazing.
Derren, you never fail to disappoint. Oh by the way, your rock hard knee bruised my leg when you came rushing by me in the front row, you swine! I’ll be back on 18th July to get my own back (front row again, right by the stairs).
lauralou – it was nice talking to you at the stage door after the show. You were brilliant.
I was there last night and it WAS glitzy. Apart from me with ice cream down my front. The show was fantastic and I was crying literal actual tears of laughter at one point. Any of you who have seen the show may be able to guess at which bit…and STARS…blimey, more stars than you could point a telescope at. Paul Daniels, Alan Carr, Charlie Brooker, Mark Gatiss, Julian Clary…and probably loads I didn’t recognise. I was surprised how starry Charlie Brooker was. If I want to see you, Charlie, I’ll put my telly on. At the theatre – sit the flipping eff down, thanks. Brilliant night. Thank you, Derren.
I was at the show on Tuesday night for my birthday, and it was amazing. But what I enjoyed most was actually getting to see Derren at the stage door. He signed things for myself and my friend, and we even got a picture. What struck me most of all was actually how down to earth and genuinely lovely he was. He didn’t have to come out and meet the fans, sign programs or indeed chat away to us, but he did. I just wanted to say thank you Derren and I look forward to seeing another of your shows!
π
I was there on that night, and I think my heart actually stopped the minute I realized that i was in the same room as you andd mark watson π I got a picture with him outside the theatre at the end as well, so that was possibly the best birthday I’ve ever had.
I really really can’t wait til the show comes out on dvd and I cant wait to see the event. Thanks for being generally amazing x
Im travelling from quite far away to see the show tomorrow, and would love to know what time it finishes? so could anyone help me out? π Thanks x
