In the final Event, Derren will twist and turn like a twisty-turny thing.

is a rather fancy way of saying the National Lottery’s slogan “It could be YOU !” 🙂
Last nights show was fantastic as were the other ones. I am always impressed by the skills of DB and am looking forward to watching them from a new shiny Events boxset with lots of extras.
It was obviously a set up casino as you wouldn’t get in with the cameras. They frisk you at the door.
Probably lost on purpose to make it seem more real.
I didn’t get Fridays show. Did he get it wrong. It was impressive still but I am right in thinking he failed right?
I am unsure of the casino as somebody would notice its Derren Brown and he has broadcasted he will win £175,000 from a casino so i dont think people would let him in, also i am sure people would want to say hi and talk to him but it seems no one noticed it was him? i doubt it would have been a set up though as he wouldn’t risk somebody elses money and why would he ruin his name by his own choice?
Don’t know how he did lotto, i didnt stick to my chair, i didnt draw circles and he messed up on and got the wrong number but still Derren Brown is god and i am a huge fan, the events was amazing and he doesnt deserve all the stick he would have recieved
DB is GOD
Are people really THAT concerned that he did something illegal?! And you never have right?! Never sped or stolen something even if it is small?! It’s entertainment I can’t believe people focused on the fact he did that! Can’t be too serious anyway, he’s done it enough times in the past he’d be in jail by now if it was. Fascinating, witty, VERY| interesting and I must say a very handsome man! Would love to have a drink with you, conversation would be amazing and very educational. Loving the book, and loving the activities (remembered the list and tasks. Strangely remembered more words backwards than forwards before the visual part came in!) Magnificent read, I really do recommend it!
A lot of the things may not have worked because you may not be very suggestive, it doesn’t work for everyone. For anyone who has seen ‘An Evening of Wonders,’ notice on the table moving bit that he picks the 4 people whose pendulums swing the most – that showed him that they were the most suggestive so the table trick would work on them. It’s in his book (BUY IT!), amazing how it all works.
Didn’t Derren say before the events that it was all about misdirection? I haven’t seen any misdirection. Were the events themselves created to misdirect us? I didn’t stick to my sofa, i didn’t draw concentric circles and he didnt get the right number. Are these mistakes on purpose? I’m confused. Anybody agree?
I noticed some strange things in this show. One of them being, while the ‘lucky viewer’ was going towards the truck, Derren specifically said he could not see him (as they only had a phone connection). However, as he went up the stairs to enter the truck, I clearly heard Derren say ‘there you go’. There were some other minor things in this last show I noticed, but I would have to watch the show again to recall them.
Yeah, you are right Gert, i have also noticed several odd occurences.
Going back to his advert, what he is saying doesn’t make much sense. And there are several times where he looks at other things and stops talking to make us look at them. I know this is blatant but i think it symbolises his wish to misdirect us. For instance, when he says “four events of misdirection” he is interupted by a man on a bicycle. But the mean thing i noticed is that he says he will teach us what he did in the events and will show us how we will “get away with it”. I found that odd.
I know this isn’t the end of the events. It is all about misdirection i am sure. The genius has something sneaky up those sleeves.
Sorry i mean’t MAIN not mean.
How it was done.
Assume Ben was live and real and Derren really talked to him in the lorry.
The bits you SAW of Derren in the lorry were prerecorded.
First is the prerecorded into. Then as he walks down the stairs you see the camera picture go all fuzzy. That is where a splice took place.
When you heard him ask for £5000 worth of chips etc that was DUBBED OVER. The real part was recorded without Derren’s voice being recorded.
The souds would have been recorded by the main camera of the general sound in the casino, which is too far away for Derrens voice.
A small amount would really have been gambled, e.g. 5 or 10 of one unit.
This would have been done many times until the ball landed either to the left or right of the desired result.
There is a 2 in 37 chance of that happening.
Just want to thank Derren for the “mind control” he exerted in the Lottery & Casino Events. Nothing to do with predicting numbers, just a platform from which to “suggest” to the nation that gambling in general is utterly futile. Those that missed this hidden “suggestion” look back. Derren told you :
1. The chances of winning the jackpot are approx 1 in 14 million, i.e. utterly futile.
2. You are more likely to die in the week you buy your ticket than you are to win it!
3. You have no idea if they are cheating or not
4. The easiest way to cheat would be to use weighted balls which you wouldn’t be able to see
In Casino he gave everyone the bitter sweet taste of every gambler. The excitement of expecting to win,
followed by the crushing brutality of losing.
I got it
Very impressed with the events, casino seemed very fake though, too quiet, no background noise, not many other people about, if it was fake studio, then fake wheel, balls etc. Not sure at all. More thinking it was all set up. Taking Bens money was excellent, if it was real, i think that the fact he failed and i think it was set up casts a bigger shadow of doubt over the rest of the act.
A well executed fail though, squash court was very impressive, many it was a step to far.
Can’t wait to see more though.
A fantistic, intelligent con man.
Well done sir
