Derren’s Next TV show: Faith Healer
So far all we can say is:
A brand new 90 minute special from the incomparable psychological illusionist Derren Brown in which the star turns his attention to the controversial world of faith-healing.
He will lay bare the tricks and techniques employed by the American Bible beltsรขโฌโข, self-proclaimed, faith-healers who boast the ability to perform wonders.
In one of the most audacious stunts he has ever attempted, Derren finds a member of the public who he will train to be a faith healer, before going out to the American bible belt and seeing if he can manage to put on a genuine faith healing show and get away with it.
As soon as we have a air date confirmed we will let you all know.
Intrigued to see for sure although sad that it will expose the fake and in doing so, overshadow the real ๐
Just like the rest of Derren’s female following, I’m planning on growing a beard, then shaving it into a goatee to celebrate this announcement.
OohH, jesus christ
That’s going to be a trip through the garden of Eden
๐
EEEEEEEEEEE!!! Excited! xxx Can’t wait! Happiness! XxX
WHAT?????????? You mean……..Faith Healing is not real?????????? lololol
Sounds like an interesting concept, I’m looking forward to seeing it on TV.
This is extreme fun. LOL
This sounds good, and I am looking forward to it, but it strikes me as not much of a challenge to get the bible-belters to swallow some bullshit that most of them will believe without question anyway…?
Perhaps I am missing something, and all will be rev(h)ealed.
@Berber we’ve tried do similar things here in the Netherlands as well!
However apparently the Dutch TV audience is not in tune with debunking faith healing and other believe systems. I have tried to sell shows like these but they much rather see someone practice their quackery instead of showing it for what it really is.
Much lik Derren himself who’s not widely watched even though initially he had a prime time slot. Perhaps us Dutch are under educated and addicted to mind numbingly boring TV cames and poorly acted soaps. I had an argument with a program designer a few weeks ago that they lack any form of creativity. The just get stuck in the whole real life vote them off nonsense. Yes TV entertainment is poor in NL!
Raymond, sooo true. Britain had Penn & Teller’s Fool Us, and we get De Nieuwe Uri Geller where contestants had to sign a non-disclosure agreement about whether they have any actual ‘paranormal gifts’.
We should try and get something better out there, really. I know of enough people that would watch.
I was in Florida during Christmas holiday visited a best magic show. It was ok eventhough
people were queue up to get a pre-booking .It’s familier with Derren’s show, through a compelling
trick of perspective, cards, mind reading and florting a table etc. We are very lucky and been spoiled
by Derren. His incredible abilities, control minds and manipulate thoughts etc. No one can achieved
by any other legends of the magical arts. Thanks to Derren and his crews for producing and programming
those shows on TV and theatre for years. We love you Derren from bottom of our hearts.
All the best and wishing you good health. xxx
Brilliant, can’t wait.
This is rather compelling, simply because it is an important subject. Faith is a great weakness, and people exploiting this weakness are wicked people indeed. Faith healers should be in mainstream TV, they should be exposed, ridiculed and put in the spotlight. I love the fact that Derren while making his living as an entertainer also tries to educate the world. I hope they don’t hold back when editing!
Looking forward to seeing this. Anything that debunks these charlatans is good! There’s no doubt they have taken plenty of money from gullible people in the past and deserve to be shown up for what they are.
Oh Derren, why do you always pick on aspects that are so obviously ridiculous and then present it as though it’s evidence enough to bring down the whole thing? As though debunking the Old Testament and mad Christianity is argument against the existence of God? Just because you expose some rubbish and mad Americans it doesn’t mean faith healing isn’t real – just as when you look at rubbish and mad ‘mediums’ it doesn’t mean clairvoyance isn’t real. Honestly, stop wasting your time and put your curiosity to better use and, if you must ‘investigate’, go investigate something truly astounding. We all know this is bobbins – it’s not exactly news – but if you can debunk Ammachi, the ‘hugging saint’, then I’ll be impressed.
meow! Saucer of milk table nine……
How do you ‘apply’ to be picked?? ๐ & Sounds amazing! can’t wait!! & Just ordered your books off Amazon!!! ๐
@ Rory,
But Rory, it’s not about trying to debunk or disprove God and religion as a whole, it’s about debunking those who use religion or clairvoyancy as a cover to take advantage of those who are vunrable. There are many of these ‘Faith Healers’ who will give people who are in a very desperate and emotional situation false hope about becoming well again, sometimes even charging them for their trouble, and it’s an incredibly despicable thing for them to do.
On the other hand, I just researched Ammachi, and she seems like a perfectly lovely human being, she is doing nothing but spread love and compassion, and not using underhanded techniques to give false hope to desperate people. There is nothing about her to be ‘debunked’, she is just travelling around and being, well, nice.

a faith healer is obviously ridiculous? and the hugging saint is truly astounding? haha what a load of .., what is there to debunk about the hugging saint, why is she so astounding compaired to faith healers, your obviously easly impressed, if you think derren alway picks on aspects that are obviously ridiculous then you should think the hugging saint is also obviously ridiculous if not then your a fool. not everyone is on your “all knowing”, there are a lot of people who belief in stuff like faith healers, stop wasting your own time by stop complaining
@BerberAnna ~ Project Alpha going in the google search engine!
Do you think Derren understands just how important his work is? (Kind of rhetorical as I know he does) He really changes peoples lives by exposing and explaining what is happening very honestly and scientifically. I know personally his shows have really helped me come to terms with a few things and I’m sure this show will do the same for others. I guess that’s the point but we seem to only have Derren (and his team) doing this stuff. Maybe a Brown Towers Academy would be good and they can send teachers over to Holland and New Zealand. Sounds a bit cultish actually.
at long last a man i can really appreciate, a speaker of fudamental truths. i am 62 years into this life, and for a long time have swam against the popular tide, not always easy. have served in the army and travelled all over, i wish you well derren, keep up the good work of exposing the charlatans, see you in may.
I look forward to seeing the show, it was enjoyable to see some of it filmed last year.
Sounds like its worth watching would be interesting to see your take on such things. Can u plz let us know now we can apply as this sounds gr8 fun
Keep up the good work
Sounds amazing ๐ good luck
That sounds really interesting, cant wait to see it.whatever will he think of next!x
Here’s a question to Derren: What would you think if you actually were able to heal someone from a bad sickness (like spread cancer) wih using the psychology, hypnosis etc. skills you possess. Wouldn’t your skills then actually be almost supernatural, even though you yourself don’t use that word? At least it would send a major shock to the community of medical science, if you were able to repeat that with another patient. Also, if that would be possible, shouldn’t you be a doctor? Anyways, waiting for the show ::)
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
sounds like fun!

what’s up, any news in regards to an air date for this?
I wouldn’t mind knowing when the air date will be either. This sounds very interesting ๐
As someone who believes in God and totally believes that God can heal I really enjoyed this programme. No wonder people are turned off Christianity when that’s what people see, people using Jesus name to make money for themselves. Over this weekend especially we are reminded of the TRUTH. Jesus came to love us, save us and give us hope by us just believing in him. And he asked for absolutely nothing in return. Just a simple request to believe, love Him and love other people. How sad that people distort that into something cruel and un-godly.
Echo Pauline – as a Christian who came to his faith at least in part by reason, I really enjoyed this program, and will be reccommending it on my blog and in real life to friends of all creeds and none.

I watched this, and as a practising Christian it answered a number of questions I’d often wondered about – how they managed to do such ‘amazing miracles’ and not be sussed out. Of course these ‘healers’ are very clever. However, given all the months and months of work and overcoming so many obstacles, I was sad to see how few people turned up to the final performance, and I could not help but wonder whether all the work and the cost of production was finally worthwhile.
I doubt it will ever begin to make the slightest dent in the evil work these ‘healers’ are doing. They will still rake in thousands upon thousands of ill-gained dollars from people who can least afford it.
