1. Events were still very good even though you were off by one, did feel sorry for ben though! x
2. Stunned confussed…. what just happend and then the credits rolled.

   A bit sad it didnt work.

   You still are the best out there though….. or was it all done on purpose??? So many times you make us think you got it wrong and then you pull something unexpected out of the bag! But this time you didnt…….. or did you?

3. My wife reckoned Derren missed by one on purpose to show he could have done it if he wanted!

   I reckoned there would be a twist at the end and Derren would come out and say … ha ha fooled you all and here is the surprise ending!!

   But seeing the guy with the big cheque at the end makes me think that it wasn’t planned to end that way.

   In these credit crunch times … I reckon a few folks would be thinking … if this bloke has 5 grand spare to lift from the bank, then why does he deserve to win 175 grand!

   And also …. if I wanted 5 grand out of my bank account … I would need to give several days notice. Not just turn up unannounced!

   So maybe there is some kind of twist coming!

6. That was one of the most astonishing endings to possibly one of the greatest shows on Earth. 🙂 It’s weird that it went wrong on the last show, isn’t it? But, having said that, being 1 off, is INCREDIBLE!! 🙂 Really awesome. You’re still a legend and it takes real guts to do something like that live (especially you being banned from Casinos. lol. We could’ve seen you getting kicked out of it!! Hehe! :D) Ben really did look peeved, didn’t he?? lol. Incredible, brilliant and astonishing!! 🙂

12. Forgive me for being a little cynical, but I can’t help but think that losing might have been the most sensible option for Channel 4… after all, I don’t think they would really leave the casino out-of-pocket if Derren won.

18. Great show tonight prompting a heated debate in our house as to whether the miss by 1 was intentional! Loved The Events, nothing to watch on Fridays now. Hope to catch a show next year…xx

20. To the bitter man who works for the Sun (…and I’m terribly sorry things aren’t working out for you), who cares if it is all a scam ? Derren said in his own trailers that there would be 4 mis-direction events, so haven’t you already been told that it’s unlikely to be total truth you’re watching ? The fact is that this series has been one of the few entertainment events / reasons to switch on the telly that aren’t soaps this year. The medium needs men of his ilk.

    To Derren – an incredible ending, far better to end 1 away than with a happy ending in my opinion.

    Great Drama – excellent work.

    I haven’t seen a darn thing last 4 friday nights but it sounds like fun for sure. We missed all of that here.
    We survived, sort of, and are now 4 weeks ahead of all the others that did have something to look forward to on their friday., and now not anymore.
    I myself bought 2 new birds, from which one only has one leg (sad story).
    Twitter … hm … it is a bit one way traffic, isn’t it … I dont know who those people are … the names are confusing, their texts at times too. What are you talking about and to who????? That’s what I sometimes wonder about. But imagine if all followers could respond …. my oh my … ehehehe …. I’d be the most obnoxious one I guess, or one of them.
25. Intentionally wrong? I think so, it would have been all too ‘daisy’ if he had succeeded ‘again’…

    However by intentionally failing, it allows the public to think, “wow, he was one off, it must be genuinely possible to calculate the trajectory and speed of a roulette ball” etc.

    Moreover, if he succeeded in every event, then the public opinion would naturally be that “ah there’s a trick/scam behind all this”…but we’re more likely to believe he actually beat the ‘systems’ if he were to ‘fall at a hurdle’.

    Or of course Derren Brown knew we’d be thinking like this if he flopped – thus his credibility would be saved. Lets say there was a glitch in his ‘system’, then he knew he could fall back on the publics opinion of saying “he failed by purpose” etc.

    Nevertheless – a great “entertainer”
26. tbh i think derren set this one up in a sense, to make him look somewhat human, and that he can make mistakes.

    i think he knew it was gonna land on red 30, and purposely bet on 8, the number next to it, just to show he can make mistakes, but also shows how amazing he is, and how much he trained for it by being just one off.

    he can afford to pay back the 5k, soely from the txts and phone call charges from the other events.

    thats my take on it, everything still amazes me and it was a great show(s)

29. Well done Derren, entertaining as usual. Of course its impossible to predict the roulette wheel…. Even the computers used to model the fall of the ball in the 70’s won’t work on modern day wheels… Let alone doing it in your head. The Event was a trick, like all the others, a very entertaining one. Getting the number next to the correct one was for effect. An amazing entertainer as always. Big fan Derren! :D!

32. Two months will seem to long! the past four weeks have flown by in a wonderful, fascinating, entertaining daze. The shows have been amazing and the effort that has gone into putting them together shines through. I would love to see Enigma again, and I hope you come to a theatre near me x

    Was an outstanding achievement though, to be out only by 1! If anything it proves to people that you’re not a charlatan and are in fact an outright amazing and honest performer.

41. derren, have been thoroughly enjoyed your high quality television. the roulette, well sir, that’s how it rolls. i was half expecting that ball to jump to the 8 at the last second. still, quite a fitting end to the series.

43. Firstly, how rich do you have to be to not realise that someone has stolen £5000 from you? After that, I was kind of waiting for Derren to emulate his donation to Shelter by contributing his roulette winnings to the Conservative Party!
    But no matter how much I want to offer my sympathy and say better luck next time, part of me still doesn’t believe that you actually got it wrong (or if you did, you did out of the goodness of your cold, mechanical heart)

45. A lot of this series has been about missing the ‘right’ one. Eg; the mouse, the box with the £20, the spray cans etc. I think Derren ‘failed’ on purpose. I haven’t a clue why yet but the way the guy from the crew stepped up, (perfectly timed with the panning back camera), to reassure Ben he’d get his £5000 back and the cheesy giant cheque that was waiting, never to be used, was, to my mind, very set up. So he didn’t lose or fail because he meant to do what he did. Derren Brown does not fail! 😛

    Did anyone else notice that when Derren stepped up to the stage just before he demonstrates with the teeny roulette wheel he says ‘ Let me show you the casino’ …
    Loved it. Shame they’ve ended. xx

    derren is a great enteartainer and has really opened my mind. there is something about him that is just … believable. what a great guy. i couldn’t care less that he was off by one, it was still greatly enertaining. looking forward to whatever is coming next.
