All finished. All gone.
This year’s run is over, although I see that tickets are already dribbling out on sale for NEXT year. Plans are afoot to come to Cardiff, Dublin and Belfast in 2010. Currently no news on Scotland. PLEASE be a super luv and don’t email asking where we’re going: it should all get firmed up before not too long and we’ll let you know as soon as we do.
There was a lovely audience for the last night, so thank you very much, any of you who made it. After the show time was short: I had to clear out my dressing room so burst through a graceless signing. Apologies for being so rushed to those of you who waited back that night. I then went for a quiet drink with a friend (and ended up chatting to Jude Law until late BECAUSE THAT’S THE KIND OF LIFE I LEAD). Jen, Simon, Andy B, Iain, Jen and I had exchanged our presents over cocktail Martinis on Friday night, so that we cold all do our boring last-night clearing away on the Saturday. You may be interested to know that I gave Coops a Fortnum’s finest Beauty Of The Foot set for his unhappy and noisome tootsies.
I have a day to settle a few things at home, and then this week I am working on The Events and filming a trailer for them. You may remember towards the end of last year I posted a picture of me on the upper deck of a bus with a bunch of kids, saying it related to something this year. Now is the time I am hoping it may pay off, as it related to this September’s shows. More news when the time is right.
My apartment is full of builders’ dust, drilling and bottom cleavages. I’m sneezing and my desk is liberally betissued. The art exhibition starts next week and poor Coops, back after barely a day off, is busying himself with sorting out the pictures for it. Things are a fraction frantic, frenzied and frenetic. I get a little weekend away in Venice in a few days, which will be much-needed.
CURRENTLY READING (when I get the chance, like this weekend), the Phaidon pocket edition of Gombrich’s The Story of Art. It’s a glorious book, which I know well in the larger edition you’re more likely to be familiar with, but this handsome little carry-round conveniently suits my lifestyle-options and means I can re-read it while perving after some gondolier. Much love. x
is it possible we can have pictures of said gondoliers when you get to Venice? π
I’m really going to have to figure out a way to get Channel 4 here in Holland, what with all this foreshadowing for the Events. Really curious now.
Have fun in Venice. If you do spot some handsome gondoliers, be advised that we demand pictures. Put that iPhone camera to good use! π
Belfast!!!! Thank you, Derren! I will, with pleasure, see you then π
Very best of luck with the exhibition and I hope you have a lovely time in Venice. You deserve the break.
Take care xxx
Happy to read that plans are ‘afoot’ for Belfast next year! Have a lovely time in Venice, you deserve a break xox Don’t fall in the water.
So will we have to wait another year for the ENIGMA DVD?
Fantastic set of shows – I came to the Adelphi near the end of the run and it was a fantastic spectacle; well done Mr Brown on a great run and best of luck with all upcoming events π
I’m going to get off my bottom and buy some tickets for the show next year – if you come darn sarf again – I saw Enigma once at the very start of the tour but I NEED to see it again! You addle my brian Mr. Brown and I love it!!
Enjoy the perving! π
xx
Looking forward to your new TV stuff; buses, kids, partridge in a pear tree – whatever, can’t wait.
Never mind the gondoliers dear (what’s with the trousers?) how are the builders?
kiss
x
Can’t wait for the new shows! All my family are waiting for the new shows and to see you again! There are a large group of waiting t come again to see the show!
Were any of the shows filmed and if so: will they show up on C4 around new year as before?
WELL DONE DEAREST FRIEND…! X
A long well-earned rest now… enjoy the sunshine in Venice…. here its p’ing it down! Grrr!
Take care and hope to hear d see you soon….
Lots and lots of love, Elizabeth XXXXXXXXXX
p.s: hope you received your flowers… sorry if you’re sneezing! Blame me. X LOVE YOU! X π
hope you can relax real soon. and test-drive a kindle, they are quite nice. (this coming from a luddite.)
luv, OOO & XXXs
PERV!
Gratz on the finishing of an amazing show. I don’t suppose we can talk about spoilers now? :/ If not, then I can always talk to myself about them ^-^
….does that double decker bus allow you to recruit your minions? o.O
Well done – now make sure you enjoy your well earned break. Sorry your signing was a bit rushed, I unfortunately also had a rushed signing a couple of weeks back at the Adelphi when I came to the show – still, got to say hello, have a handshake and get my copy of Pure Effect signed so can’t grumble too much, I’m only sorry there wasn’t much time to appriciate the ‘joke’ (“childishly simple!”) I put into it – I should have taken my books to the manchester showing where I manged a good 5 minute chin-wag.
All the best though, and looking forward to The Event(s).
Paul B
@jameshogg
Still no tour spoilers allowed due to the tour running next year as well, sorry!
and as for recruitment… watch this space π
CARDIFF!!! maybe me and phillis can finally have that pint!
You romantic little thing .. Venice of all places … (“like a virgin”… lalalalaaaa … Nah .. you can’t do it so well that scene as she ..). Keep your eyes open for the first female gondelier overthere … but on 2nd thought .. dont …. you probably prefer something nice to look at .. There are a few students among them who have trouble keeping their passengers in the boat …. watch out for those … very dangerous … smelly end ..
Jude Law .. that is .. erm that guy .. the actor .. the one that is kinda strangely attractive and at the same time he does not attract me in a sexual way so I wondered .. is he gay ? (if they dont attract me in a certain way they just must be gay, dont you think so? Whatever .. he sort of .. intrigues me in this area probably)..
Ehehehe .. whatever.
The baby pic is cute, I thought for a moment I saw my own face after hearing this was the last show …
Ah, Coop’s foot still bug you huh? Is it the smell your just the sight of it? Does he have weird foot behaviour? Like constantly peeling the callus of his feet (bottom), using scissors and other pointy thing for this procedure. Or .. is that what you want Coops to do you with your feet??? By buying him the set?
A feet grooming set then huh? Although .. finest beauty of the foot … hm, that does not make sense …
But maybe you are into feet … in such a way that coop’s feet do have potential but just need a little more of that .. erm special thing …
Enjoy yourselves with the foot fetish thing here I’d say … a foot trick might be nice ..
Have a nice week and enjoy venice!
I have this strange image of Derren driving the bus. You unknowingly get on, thinking it’s just a normal bus ride. You are oblivious to Derren driving due to being oblivious to most bus drivers. He somehow takes triple the fare off of you before handing you a ticket with the number of the seat you will be sitting in (you never look at the ticket). As you sit down you notice the ‘bus stopping’ button that rings the bell, but you notice that engraved at the bottom of the button it says ‘no more than 14 times, no less than 14 times, OR ELSE.’ As the bus drives, you hear hysterical snickering from somewhere near the drivers seat.
And for some reason, the bus never approaches maximum occupancy.
thanks for a brilliant time at the adelphi (july 4th) still havn’t stopped talking about it. Rotch
Thank you yet again for an inspirational nights entertainment. And additionally a hurried but much appreciated signed booked.
Enjoy the last night of the show endlessly and delirious to here you’re planning to come to Dublin, will certainly be there again having made the venture over to london with my mother dearest, well worth it.
Never mind their bottom cleavages! Can you recommend your builders? I’d like to get my floor sanded down, but any builders I got in in the past turned out to be useless (in every imaginable way from mounting a tap the wrong way round to leaving the house flea-infested). Unfortunately I am in Croydon – I guess you’ve moved on from there…
I can’t wait to watch it again next year π Can’t get enough!
I do wish that this site was compatible on my phone though… I was rather disheartened that I have to come off the net on my phone and come alllll the way downstairs to read this fabulous post on my PC π
Rant over π
Good work guys, I hope you all feel that it paid off! π
…and that was a ridiculous amount of smilies that I just used. Apologies!
π
What phone are you using?
I’ll look into it π
Dublin! Brilliant! Last tour was fantastic.
Hope you enjoy your extremely well earned break D.
Maybe next time round I’ll be in a better position (financially) to come and see you in an Enigma show.
You and a bus… hmmm.
Not considering your own enactment of a certain scene from one of the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ films are you? π
Saying that… if it involves children too, probably not a good way to avoid getting sued for ‘mental trauma/torture’ π
Maybe you’re just considering a ‘summer holiday’ π
Anyway, I ramble on way too much… Take care and enjoy! π
Peace People!
“buildersΓ’β¬β’ dust, drilling and bottom cleavages”
Is that because of the life you lead too ?
You lucky man – Venice will seem just awful compared to that…….
π
Can’t believe the tour is already over. But I can’t complain, I got to see it twice (Reading + London 17.07) – enjoyed it a lot each time. Seen from my end, it was definitely worth it, coming all the way from Austria.
Thank you again for two hightly enjoyable and probably unforgettable evenings, and the nice chats afterwards!
Good luck for The Events and other endeavours and have fun in Venice!
Well done on finishing the show. I went to the last one on saturday and i thought it was amazing.. Seriously, you were fantastic, and i told you so at the stage door where you signed my book and had a photo with me. Thank you for that. You might have been in a hurry, but you made a lot of people happy. π
Enjoy your well deserved break π x
CARDIFF! π
Well done Derren, got to see the fantastic show in Manchester. Enjoy your much deserved trip to Venice, it is an amazing, beautiful and inspiring place.
xxx
Good luck with the exhibition, but I’m sure you don’t need it. – Chance of any blog posts on it? Enjoy Venice. Looking forward to you ‘Firming up’ for dates, although I would not have quite put it that way myself. Builders bum, unfortunately an affliction that is common and ‘widespread’ and although relatively harmless to the afflicted, I cannot say the same for the poor soul who is unfortunate enough to be within the vicinity of it, particularly while eating. Awww foot cream for coops, now he will smell all pepperminty, unless of course he keeps it for Christmas, rewraps it and gives it to someone else.
I was there on Saturday and while waiting in the foyer I had my photo taken by the affable Mr Coops. He took my picture a second time, asking me to close my eyes. My mind reeled, wondering in what way my closed-eyedness would be psychologically manipulated in the show. Turns out it was to set up a gag for Derren where he suggested that I looked like I was masturbating when the photo was taken. Hurrah for audience participation!
My dignity was salvaged at the end of the night when I caught a frisbee for the final routine though. I would say more but, well, you know…
I can’t really add much more to what the lovely people on here have already said, except make sure you enjoy your well-earned break to Venice Derren, and I am soooo looking forward to The Events in September!! π
Take care,
LC x
What a show it was, thanks for being pretty much the best entertainer ever, had a great time both times I saw it. Might even go again next year if it’s anywhere near me. Looking forward to The Event shows too.
Brilliant, good to hear you are doing another run next year. Can you make sure Norwich is on your list again oh and can you not visit between the 7th August-13th of September as I am on holiday and will be out the country. Anytime apart from then will suit fine. Thanks π
Enjoy The Story of Art!
If you enjoy it, do seek out The Alchemy of Paint by Spike Bucklow. I promise you will not be disappointed!
Jmes Hogg – ah, nice start of a possible scenario … I had hoped some people were going crazy with the button but hey …
I had not thought about what it could be .. the event … and the buss .. dont remember there being childeren … just that it was a gloomy evening not long before X-mas. Lots of things can be done in busses I guess, not all in Brown’s field. Oh well .. I’ll keep my thoughts to myself …
The event … THE event … buss … people … THE event … Something psychological … a bit mysterious to many people perhaps … I’ll just wait and see.
Hm, pictures to gag Derren? And with eyes shut … and that is supposed to be an O? Hm .. a tiny one probably ? Mini O. Coops def. is not a good photographer .. you need to make more comments .. drive em in to the right state … although I doubt whether that is possible .. that’s more Power’s thing (on stage and everywhere people get orgasms when he shakes their hand or he tells them that the food will give it them ..).
When Harry met Sally … he couldn’t enough of that movie apparently. I mean, who would want to fake an orgasm on stage or whereever for such a show? Oh well … maybe Coops is aiming for a position at PP’s tower then huh? Or is Brown afraid of the eyes …. develish eyes … ehehehe … do they need to look dead?
Euh .. that’s a creepy thought … or was it part of the system ..
Whatever…
Construction in/around the appartment .. that’s interesting, but ofcourse we will not get to see pics of that. So dont make me curious then. Not that I am that curious .. and as I dont have a clue what it looks liked … I could not say if I would find it an improvement .. .. Hm .. let me tune in …. yes … a room … big … bigger than before .. Those guys … bottom cleavage .. for a moment I thought .. what’s that .. what was cleavage again .. and then I got it … brrrr …. They sort of challenge you to put something in there .. or wiggle your finger in there for a short moment…. making a weird noise .. but hey, that’s what you should not do with strangers …
Ah, .. no, you are not going to read in that book on that gondel … that’s not why you go to Venice Brown. Open your eyes .. open your mind … enjoy the scene .. or dont get in a gondel. A huge invasion of wild gondels is going to be on the canals of venice coming weekend … wild chicks … wild guys … scanning the canals for brown and???? And once spotted a wild race will be started … let’s hope you picked the best gondelier ! As those boats are not that stable … Oh, you pictured yourself more as the gondelier, or the one(s) with you …. Hm … Nah, you will be hanging there in your pole … while the gondel is meters away already … Then the chasing gondels will come in handy I’d say!
Now then … off I go .. not to venice … I have a way better place to go ..
Derren,
enjoy Venice – im sure the book you are reading will help! Im a fan of the Warburg, it’s such an incredible place with lots of interesting books and well, Gombrich, I presume he’s the same one π
Fede
bless u derren. Now u can have a well deserved rest. When i checked the blog my best m8 was round and she loves jude law, we got really excited. Thnks 4 updating us all, we’re a lucky bunch of fans having our beloved mentalist personally leaving blog posts. Look forward to the next one. X
Hi Derren
Just back from London having seen the last show of the tour. It was fantastic. Hope your head is ok after the bashing you gave it off the scenery. I definately think a few days holiday is a great idea. Have a fabulous time. It would be great if you made it back to Scotland next year but you can’t be everywhere and you did come to Glasgow this year. Looking forward to the TV show in September. It’s not that long away now.
Take care and have a fab break
xx
Well, congrats on completing the tour, and much bigger congrats on chatting to Jude Law…that certainly confirms beyond doubt your ‘celebrity’ status π It would be really lovely if u came back to Scotland next year…i could probably fill the theatre with people who i have told it is a ‘must see’!!
Happy holidays!
pictures of handsome gondoliers? = yes please!
Enjoy your well deserved trip to Venice.
Very much looking forward to the Events (even though we don’t have Channel 4 in Norway).
Already making plans for next years tour – yay!!
Yay!! Am thrilled that you’ll be heading back to Dublin!!
Say, is that part of an experiment .. the amazon link … checking with how much the sales go up after a book has been in Derren’s post here …
Oh well, it will help a little at least .. Maybe you should ask them for a percentage of all sales .. or a discount ofcourse .. on all your purchases …
Nope, dont know what other bookstore online you should have named otherwise either.
Derren, when you are in Venice, I would strongly recommend going to a concert in one of the churches. Sadly I can’t remember which one I went to but it was gorgeous. A rainy night, nothing else to do…and it was Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, which sounds a bit, meh, heard that a million times. But it was breathtaking and brought tears to my eyes. Have fun.
Dont forget a peg for your nose! π Forget the book take a brolly as it might be raining if your to close to the walls in your Gondola.
Have a good break away and tip us off to any more new drinks. (dam Martini with elderflower!)
Cheers
Rob
Congratulations Derren on the completion of you tour! I’m still eternally grateful to you and All at Alton Towers for allowing me to go and see Enigma in London. Mesmerising! Can’t wait to see the Events in September…
Do stay clear of gondoliers, though, I beg you. Trust me, I’m a native (well, almost…)
Happy Hols π I bought Derren’s potraits book yesterday. It’s gracing my new coffe table. Very good and very big.
x
When in Venice, check out the horse and rider on the veranda at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. I t raises a smile everytime ….
