Mr. Coops’ Eyebrow extraction
I know, 2009, but I found that and thought it was funny. So last night we had a lovely evening. The last week of shows have been terrific – Simon, our tour manager, is back with us in robust health, and his replacement for the week, Chris, was just lovely. Plymouth was delightful, and we headed to the beautiful Barbican area to take Chris out for a farewell lunch. The shows were great fun, as have been the last few nights in Northampton. Bank Holiday Monday brought us a lively, refreshed audience; last night, after the first day back at work, the auditorium was noticeably more tired. It’s fascinating how such things translate into reliable shifts in audience energy.Â
After the show last night we went over the road and were looked after royally by Victor at Cagney’s restaurant, just over the road from stage door. It’s always massively appreciated when a restaurant opens late for us, and it was a hugely welcoming place  in which to to plonk ourselves down, tired and hungry. The steaks, Northamptoners, are rumoured to be the best in town, and I have to say that ours were sensational. Thank you Victor, and nameless lady chef for looking after us so well. Here’s Victor:
and you can see Jennie and Iain inside waving like the fools they are. Please be sure to say hello to Victor if you’re passing, and aside from the steaks, the garlic prawns are definitely worth the journey from wherever you are. Â
After our meal, we headed back to the hotel, where a momentous event occurred. For some time, Coops has flaunted an eyebrow hair which has grown to massive proportions. The rest of us have tried any number of ruses to pluck it from his head, including rugby-tackles, hypnosis and pornography, but he has been quick to protect it and rendered all attempts useless. Last night, however, a little softened by Victor’s beers and fine Italian food, he agreed to allow Jennie to pluck it from him. I filmed the event and am posting it here for posterity. Best to ignore the background dialogue, which is a confused late-night stream of show-related in-jokes that will make no sense to you. Also, enjoy how Coops looks when he’s drunk.Â
There you all are. I’m going to have to toss a coin on the race/cake issue. Thank you for your thoughts.Â

thank heavens I’m not the only one who grows a single uber long eyebrow hair… and they always seem to grow over night… !! its un-natural…!!!

Oh my word, that is the longest eyebrow hair i have ever seen lol. Very Funny! Glad it was plucked though. It needed to be done! x

I was fine with that vid up to the eating it part (woz that really a knot? I couldn’t see) THEN I was kinda dissapointed that he didn’t sniff it up & reproduce it from his mouth!! Amazing wot u get used to eh!
Tried that restaurent when we came on Monday, shame it didn’t have a table for 30mins – we should have waited.

Ha ha Gill, that reminds me, my dad ordered me a DB art print for christmas the year before last, it was a bit of a wait, but the Devil’s Picture Book DVD turned up as well, when he hadn’t ordered or paid for it. So he kept quiet, nice one.

I was part of the lively, refreshed audience on Bank Holiday Monday – and it was a truly great show. We all loved it. Thanks also for taking the time to stop for autographs and pictures. Much appreciated. We will watch out for future tours!

Fantastic. Looks like you guys are having such a good time on the road. Great that you actually take the time to keep us fans entertained here on the blog, even though you’re touring.

The Eye Brow pluck event .. I can’t see it, not sure if I should be depressed with this … maybe once … way back in the past … So let’s consider that as foreplay then .. the Eye Brow pluck event … Derren, you did not get the rest on camera I presume? Not sure if I would have wanted to watch that either though ….. you never know if they start to pluck more ..

Hey Coops! – now when you said last night ,outside the Derngate in Northampton, that you had plucked your world record eyebrow out I thought you were just trying to show off in a weird PA/Pizza delivery boy attempt to flirt with me ( thanks for the light by the way )…but it actually turns out that Britain does have talent, even if it is just that little bit freaky!…from the dancers to the geeks and the hard workers to the drunken entertainers of your crew , you are made for each other and I can’t think of a happier bunch of misfits. Was a pleasure to meet you guys/gals – the show even left me gob smacked which in its self Coops IS a world record !..BEAT THAT!xxx
i get one of these every now and again. i grow very attached to them. theyre very thick. also extra long and thick nose hair, which make my sneeze when i pull them out. lurvly!
