Some terrific animated lectures by The RSA on YouTube – I’ve been quite captivated all morning.

Brilliant, all of them
Not only a brilliant piece of animation but what a thought-provoking lecture.
(I’ll be thinking of different uses for a paper clip all afternoon. =] )
I’ve been saying this since I left college and had finally caught on that the education system totally sucks. It needs modernised and rejuvenated. It really needs to change. I got turned away from a Psychology course after college when if the system was up-to-date they’d have know my grades weren’t what they should be because I was having to study crap I didn’t want to do. I hope that it can change but it will be hard for it to. Maybe if all the tax payers speak up and say what they think about it they can have a say in making it change sooner.

That is awesome :O
Fantastic stuff. So much better than the Curriculum for Excellence lectures we’re forced to listen to!
Excellent presentation!
I Wholeheartedly agree, i have seen a few of there videos dotted around the internet, the lecture on education is my favourite by far.
That was the future of education right there.
Now it feels wrong going back to my studybook and finding myself looking for the right answers in the back after making the excercises -_-
Lol @ Bas
I’m so glad you’ve posted this, it’s brilliant.
Watched this and the one about motivation quite a while ago and shared on Twitter because they’re so well done and fascinating. Don’t think I’ve seen them all though.

So, what was the % figure of the testing ?
A very enjoyable eleven minutes and forty-one seconds =)
Very interesting and thought provoking indeed. I do absolutely agree that education in the conventional sense does not guarantee success. In fact, and speaking as someone who has done quite well in the typical academic path, I find that once in the (corporate) workplace there are many who although did extremely well in academia, seem to lack the common sense, aptitude and drive to succeed in the ‘real world’. I do feel a bit uncomfortable about the throwing around of statistics, especially about ADHD – I dont know much about the topic, but I do know it is something wrought with debate, and always feel cautious when such things are simplified to prove a point. Also wonder who pragmatically one goes about achieving this revolution towards th education system, and who will foot the bill?
I absolutely adore Sir Ken Robinson. His lectures on Education are fantastic., and his book ‘The Element’ knowing your passion is inspirational. He did a Ted TV Talk on education (Which can be seen here – http://vodpod.com/watch/22265-ken-robinson-tedtalks-do-schools-today-kill-creativity) A must watch, highly entertaining. Cheers for that 🙂
Cleverly done and incredibly interesting. Thank you for posting, Derren.
