GETTING READY…
…for ‘The Event’. The show will consist of a mixture of pre-recorded location pieces and theatre-based bits hanging it all together, and then each one if the four one-hour programmes leads up to a major stunt at the end (which will be done in September when it all goes out). It’s fun and really ambitious (at least compared to what we’re used to. Probably Obama has more on his plate).
Any of you coming to the recordings will be forming a small, on-screen audience for the theatre sections, being taken through the story-so-far and the pieces we’ve already filmed.
And while you have nothing better to do, here are some pictures of Westminster I took in the snow from the office. x
I cannot wait to see the new project, which sounds extraordinary. I was chatting with one of America’s most famous magicians the other day, and I kept going on about how much I admire your work. He responded: “Derren Brown is, by far and away, the best magic on television. He makes David Blaine look as if he standing still. Which, most of the time, he is.” I thought that was quite funny, and true. Of course I actually like Blaine’s work, as does (I suspect) the famous magician I was chatting with.
Somehow you manage to keep a sense of wonder alive in the world, even as you challenge people to reconsider their superstitions. It’s no small feat, and I thank you for it. Now, I have a few questions about some of your methods if you could just drop me an email… 😉
Oh how I wish I was able to partake in the fun!!! 🙁 One day maybe……………..hope it all goes to plan x
´hope none of you died in the snow´´ hehee…morbid, moody derren?
I can´t wait for the series being aired…darn september is long wait though…hope for the peeps that went to spil a few beans here…
I think my face has now turned Green!
I will now return to my jealous corner…Hope it goes well, good luck to all!
Not enough snow here to die in. Blah.
It sounds way cool. Now I’m curious about the stunt…
Is that an actual picture of Jesus?
I just found out that Jesus was called Joshua & it was a really common name at the time.
What an incredibly beautiful theatre. DB’s programs keep getting better & this year looks so exciting.
hmm. well I’m on the guest list for one of the recordings. and a bit confused now. Doe’s this mean no live stuff will be taking place when we attend and we will be watching pre recorded stuff? or does this mean we are watching stuff live as the “audiance eyes” as such?
Also why bring the prop we have asked if its for watching pre recorded sections…. Hmmm
Cheers
Rob
someone is having an epiphany in front of the stage in the piccie!
I think its Coops finally having chewed off his right leg and having taken off the ball and chain. what happends next involving DB and a cattle prod should be a warning to any side kicks out there….
Cheers
Rob
Haha… “It was THIS big, I swear!”
Rob: I think that what’s meant is that the show will consist of pre-taped segments with theatre bits in between, and you’re in the audience for the recording of the theatre bits. If that makes any sense.
Derren, I think you somehow engineered all the snow just so you could wear the thermals you purchased to take to Russia.
This sounds similar to the process for other TV recordings I’ve been to, although that’s usually so they can record a laughter track, so this is probably more about doing something live in the theatre but filming some of the preparation first. I take it all the tickets are gone now, and it’s not possible to get on the list somehow?
Sean: There’s apparently a waiting list at the Lost in TV website, but I imagine there’s so many people on there that you’re not likely to get in. Still, I guess it’s your best chance.
So um, what happened with the whole “search for the code word and e-mail us” thing?
My thoughts exactly.
Well, it ended, and somebody won the tickets. Forget who, but they did say so in the replies to the competition post.
I’m a little confused as well… as what people attending on Saturday will be doing…. I presumed that we will be involved in some trick(s), specially related to the prop (mind has been doing overtime thinking what)…. but then your comments about watching pre-recorded stuff, I’m now at a loss. Please clarify.
(and yes morbid comment, given that someone “has” died in the snow).
Sue xx
Why can’t you all just wait and find out? lol 🙂
Think yourself lucky you got tickets in the first place!
From how I read it, you will take part in theatre pieces but also be shown the pre recorded video parts inbetween so you know what the hell is going on. Blah! Who cares, just have fun! 😀
anyone noticed the name of that jpeg?
miraculous.
ch.
Sounds exciting, I will have to wait till it’s broadcast but I’m sure it’ll be great.
Please do funny faces in the camera, wave and say hi to all of us who will not be there (the people in the audience I mean , all (otherwise they simply cut it). The funniest face wins a prize … hehehe … or a sign .. where the f@#ck is Hans Klok?
Oh well .. have fun (dont throw too many boxershorts and braws on stage ..)
If I had died in snow … I could not have read your post here Derren .. I would have told you (all of a sudden voices you’d have .. I’d make you a believer ..)
“Think yourself lucky you got tickets in the first place!”

Lol – no but our snowman is dying! 🙁 he looked cool smoking his pipe (baby formula scoop). Wow – looks gr8 – wish i was taking part in this but coming to the tour – cant wait! xxxxxxx
Oh, someone won?
Is there another way to get tickets other than being on the waiting list on that website?
Weather pending…. see you tomorrow.
:o)
xx
Is the snowy pics to put me off coming? *lol*
I’m very intrigued as to what its going to entail, and more so about it all coming together in September with a major stunt…. hmmmm, was it September time you was on that bus talking about doing something that would pay off in a year?
xx
I love those wintery pics, it looks lovely. We have loads of snow here in Birmingham but it just doesn’t look that pretty… Wonder why…
New pics … read about the snow and it finally was on the news here as well … it’s been a while since we had something like that here (it does have its nice and bad sides). Especially the fact that it can be that bad that you can’t see a damn thing .. that’s been a while for sure.
meow lol only joking, aaah bet it was so amazing meeting him… Have you ever asked him to ‘read your mind?’ I’m pretty sure I would have to ask that question lol
So who else is going tomorrow?
I will be there with three friends who got tickets.
Cheers
Rob M
can i ask what the answer to the tricky comp question was?
vix: the word was goatee. the hints were the beard stuff and shave…
cheers

“Nothing better to do”?
I’ve just found out about The W*nky Sh*t Demon. If you’re brave search youtube for it before they take the video down. Maybe there IS a God after all!
Man, I wish the office where I work had a view like that. My view is of some of the derelict and condemned buildings of Hartford, Connecticut. Not a palace among them.
Thanks for those amazing pics of westminster in snow – wow – when i see snowey pics of london it always reminds me of Victorian london. 🙂 xxx
Really like the snow pics. Again, really looking forward to seeing it on TV as well.
Following ‘2009 Oscars Interactive Photo Hunt!’ earlier on in your blog ~ The Union Flag is missing on top of Victoria Tower in the lower image. How did you make it disappear?
Ps. Do you intend moving the office down the road to Lambeth Palace 🙂
Wonder if everyone attending ‘The Event’ will have that forget-everything trick done on them at the end so that they can’t blab about any of it to the rest of us?
V stylish snowy London shots. Like them thanks.
Lovely pictures. Office you say, I say orifice regards where I work. Do I have your permission to save the pics on my puter, print off, and stick to my small window in order to turn my aformentioned orifice into a more tolerable office…Pretty Please, with Marmite topped marshmallows.
I had tickets for Thursdays filming.. but then got bumped off the list because the venue changed the number of people they’d take… gutted.. as are my three other friends who were coming with me.. I really hope to get tickets for the next filming (which I think is september ??)
naquada: That sucks, especially when it’s as last-minute as this. I do hope they give you tickets for the September filming — I think they should put you at the top of the list, to compensate for bumping you.
blimey!
I thought those photos where old? teehee
Interesting
there were people in line who had tickets from a email that had since been cancelled. these people should confirm they have REAL tickets rather then stomping feet and trying to do the whole “I travelled ages so i should be let in”… Come on people. if you’re told in an email they are cancelled, face it! lol
Cheers
Rob
Well i went to filming for The Event today and thorughly enjoyed it.
My lips are, of course, sealed and I’m looking forward to seeing how the whole thing turns out.
Thanks be to Derren!
I just got back from the recording too.. (after a restorative curry near the location) – what a beautiful theatre! Really enjoyed the live bits Derren did, just wish there were more (I’m greedy!) and that I’d been picked, but the pre-recorded sections were amazing.
Can’t wait to see the climax of the event in September… and yes, my lips are also sealed!
Now, just waiting for the London dates for the tour to be announced…
Yeah, be nice to get a heads up on the London tour dates although the tix are always quite expensive in the big smoke. While it’s always worth the cash one has been crunched by credit at the moment so jobless but i’ve been to every tour Derren has done – in fact even back to his first ever live shows in Bristol before he became the touring showman he is now – so can’t miss one now!
Maybe he should run a competition for tix for those shows too 🙂
