Derren Brown: The Events ‘How to be a psychic spy’
In the 1960s, in response to a leaked KGB video, the CIA spent millions of dollars researching psychic abilities and, in particular, the possibility of ‘remote viewing’ – having the ability to see and describe an object that is hidden from view.
For this show’s Event, Derren will perform a unique psychic experiment live, with viewers across the nation to see if they can intuit the hidden content of a covered drawing that has been hanging in The Science Museum since August. Remember to have a pen and paper to hand…
I really can’t wait for this show.. highlight of my week… I live a sad lonely life.
Will definitley be watching that! Wow, interesting! 🙂 Derren I’m following you on twitter, please follow back? Pleaseeeeeeee? > xoCLO < is the username,
thanks.
This is so interesting, I’m so excited for Friday already. Its going ot be a long wait 🙁
I’d love to believe that remove viewing was possible by some psychic means, but I also love the fact that Derren will do it without psychic ability.
I’m absolutely loving The Events. They are making great TV.
ooooo, cant wait, i put my pic through hope its the same as the one in the science museum lol probbably isnt 😀
Man, do you have ANY IDEA how hard it was to draw Criss Angel levitating into heaven on that website?
I once did something similar with Uri Gellar where he transmitted a picture to us viewers at home and I got it spot on. I nearly fell off my chair!! Cos at the time that sort of thing wasn’t done a great deal, not via that means anyway…..
I just think perhaps I got lucky there, and I very much doubt it’ll happen again. But I love experiments like these and am very much looking forward to Friday’s show. All of the Events have been simply wonderful so far and each one makes me hunger for the next!!
Brilliant stuff as usual, Derren! 😀

Should be good…Remote Viewing has a huge body of evidence behind it already. Of course most people can’t see beyond their own beliefs so I’m expecting loads of negs on this page…
My guess is the ‘experiment’ will be Derren trying to ‘make’ the audience ‘pick up’ what he’s trying to make them think, not ‘guess an image on their own’. Wonder what it might be? Liked how he ‘forced’ the image of a giraffe last episode!
So exitted, derren is a genious!
SO exitted about this,
worship the Brown 😉
@ Sarah I’m not sure he’s going to use this method unless it’s going to be a car or a car wheel you should be drawing.
Anyhow I didn’t draw a car wheel. I won’t say what I did draw just in case it influeneces anyones decision.
Mark
REALLY looking forward to this!! 🙂
And strangely …… i’ve really enjoyed staying in on a Friday night …. The Events have saved me a fortune!! 😉
@ Lady Claire. I followed you on twitter. Follow me up!

Mark
I’m gonna miss it 🙁
Sorry for three comments but I’m wondering is this drawing cookie based and I need to keep my cookies loaded in my browser in order to return on Friday as instructed after submission? Could admin possibly email me the answer to this.

Hi everyone, just to put this out there, i used an automatic writing style technique and got a par of glasses. Tbh i’m not expecting that to be right, but i’m just opening discussion about what everyone thinks…
My eyes will be glued to the tv, hmmm. Anyway, good luck Derren (like u need it).
@Alex – i drew the first think that came into my head, and couldnt change my mind coz it was what felt right….it was a house and a cat…but i dont think that will be it as its too ‘normal’ lol
x
My eyes will be glued to the screen! hmmm. What a legend.
I don’t think its what i drew…coz thats just from my imagination
Well, I’ve just done my image. For some reason it popped straight in there after going over to the Events site and looking at the covered drawing that we’re trying to match. It’s probably WAY out (and it’s a rubbish ‘drawing’!) but you never know….. 🙂
LC x
Out of interest…is this week’s “All your ……..are belong to us” going to be Eyes or Pens?
I may cry if they’re not…
:p
Okay, I’ve submitted mine…..Please don’t yell at me if it’s wrong!
I thought I could never be more awe-struck than on lottery night, but if it DOES turn out to be my drawing (particularly if it has a specific detail on it,) then I may just be in danger of fainting! And, once I have come to, I will happily acquiesce to ‘Worship the Brown’.
Just drawn my image (which is really hard when you haven’t got one of those pen mice) and it’s probably waaaaay off but meh it’s the first thing that came to mind. It’s a little obvious maybe, not sure :/.
Why is it not Friday yet 🙁 My friends have got to put up with my musical count down till Friday night lol.
Is it just me, or when somebody says clear your mind, you find anything and everything to fill it with. 🙂
Tried the picture, very interesting, lost of things came to mind, so I drew and submitted the first 3 :-).
Gem x
@Gemma, strangely enough one image did pop into my head so I drew that one, but I would be beyond surprised if I got it right!!
I assume this has little to do with CRV or Project STARGATE.
Merely Derren Brown team’s PWA (a buzz TLA, indeed ;)) suggestion?
A cat? A triangle encased with in a circle? A house?
I’d watch with interest.
PS My browser doesn’t enable Flash, so I can not take part in the Gag. 🙁
I too remember seeing Uri Geller do this back in the 90’s, and if i recall correctly he drew a picture of a Tower, now all i can think of drawing is a stupid tower.
Hopefully the dulcet tones of the air conditioning and staring at a black screen covered in tiny green writing affectionately known as ‘The Matrix’ between the hours of 9-5 today will be enough to send me into a catatonic state in order to push Mr Geller and his evil tower of madness from my mind 🙂 x
I’m too busy looking for the prompts and subliminal images around the covered picture that I can’t clear my mind enough to come up with anything!
Would find it hilarious if it turned out to be a blank page!!!
I woke up in the middle of the night with ‘the answer’. I decided yesterday not to be influenced by some of the elements near the picture when I drew yesterday’s attempt, but with one of Derren’s Sunday twitters and other little bits and pieces ‘coming’ to me in my sleep, I thought I’d change my mind this morning. And now I see some other little shapes on the page as well, which might suggest it. Of course it’ll be Derren misdirecting us and seeing how many of us draw the same little nibble. I might go back and draw some stick men doing naughty things now. Well, I’ve already submitted the genitalia – bloody difficult drawing one of ’em with that wobbly old pen thing, isn’t it?
Is there going to be ONE night soon that there won’t be some kind of Derren/Events thing happening in my sleep? Bleedin’ Nora, I’ve had proper psychedelic efforts for 2 weeks now. Help. I can’t work out whether I’m having a good sleep or a bad sleep.
I had a few things go through my mind. First was a cat but I dismissed it because I have 3 so that might be why! Then I thought a house or sky scraper but changed my mind again but I wont say what. Im probably wrong though!
May I recommend a few books that touch on the background of this gag, please?Â
Psychic Warrior by David MorehouseÂ
Mind Trek by Joseph McMoneagle (both on the subject of the CIA/DIA remote viewing task force.Â
Remote Viewing by Tim Rifat (a more general look into the history of remote viewing)Â
Journeys Out of The Body by Robert Monroe (the very book which helped me achieve “Astral Projection”)Â
DMT The Spirit Molecule by Rick Strassman (a look at a drug that may induce visions of God or aliens)Â
Â
Most techniques tend to start with inducing deep relaxation. You then picture a simple image, like an apple; after a while, you just imagine “nothing”, more difficult to do than to write.Â
Â
I hope you have as much fun with the subject as me.
For any with more than a passing interest in Remote Viewing:

I thought I’d figured out what the image was because of what looked like bait left on The Events website; so therefore my drawing was wrong. But now, something ver fishy has popped up, and I’m thinking my drawing could be right after all…
Most likely the answer is just angling in front of our faces!
Now … is it really there then … already .. the image … I can imagine that it is not there yet … and that if that is the case you all just wait and check these drawing on the C4 site .. and decide that those def. wont be it … etc etc ..
Or er .. it is not live .. it has already been decided for .. but not the way it seems .. it’s not there … it’s not therefor to be called remote viewing .. lots of people shooting brain vibes now so we might actually be seeing eachothers images … or what we think the object is …
Where are the ‘signs’ which people normally supposedly had seen and had lead them to drawing the exact same picture as was on the stand ..
Not that we really bother that much. We just have great fun with the next event ..
i’m hoping it’s not something like a cat or a mouse. As mouse and cat have been used extensively throughout Derren’s shows when he predicts what people will draw.
Paul H. Smith (retired Army intelligence officer who teaches remote viewing) explains WHAT IS REMOTE VIEWING? here: http://tinyurl.com/mkxmzd
I’ve always been a huge fan of Derren’s brand of magic, but I’m slightly disappointed by this series. He’s repeating tricks Uri Geller did 10+ years ago, and while Uri claimed to be psychic, and Derren goes out of his way to show he’s not, some of the ‘explanations’ have been so obtuse as to be unbelievable. He’s taking tricks I’ve seen as side-shows by other magicians and creating a story around them to make them the centre-piece. Marc Salem, Philip Escofferey, Penn and Teller have all done these as part of their stage shoes, and they were amazing without any faux explanations. Just feels a little cheap compared to what we’ve seen Derren do in the past, such as the system, where it wasn’t even magic, just pure maths and stats..Awesome! Just my 2C and I’m a massive fan!
In the video Derren says, “Remoteviewing is the ability to see through the eyes of another human being.” This is not true. Neither remote viewers nor the scientists and researchers in the remote viewing field would define it in such a blatently wrong grossly over simplified misleading way. What remote viewing IS is unproven so far, but it DOES utilise ALL of the viewer’s own senses and certainly DOES NOT include experiencing another’s visual perceptions. With best intent Loraine Connon
The definition of remote viewing given here is correct as far as it goes, but it’s truer to say remote viewing is the ability to know anything anywhere in time or space. With best intent Loraine Connon insightremoteviewing@googlemail.com
To clarify my last post it should read –
The WRITTEN definition of remote viewing given here is correct as far as it goes, but it’s truer to say remote viewing is the ability to know anything anywhere in time or space.

I’m excited for this, as i have been for all your Events. You have taken my friday nights away, and i love it!
Well, i submitted my drawing last night and having looked at the site again I’m actually feeling pretty confident! Won’t say what it is…it just popped into my head but then with hindsight i could see lots of clues to what it was both in the photos and the layout of the web page. will be ridiculously and pathetically pleased if right!
a little bit confusing… What is a psychic spy??
“Oh, It’s a sailboat…” – Mallrats
The fact that people are studying the website for clues before entering their drawing means that this is about as far away from a true remote viewing experiment as one could possibly get.
Is it really about remote viewing you could also ask … or is Brown just fiddling around again with stuff they sort of dont believe in. I myself prefer open minded research, but as soon as media/commerce/entertainment steps in, more things start to play a role which can colour the set up of systems etc in the back. For true research people need to go somewhere else ofcourse. Although they can use a lot of stuff for their own research .. enjoying but keeping your mind in the back ..
Sorry, but I just can’t be happy when spiritual gifts are used for Show Biz. It trivializes them and is great fuel for skeptics who think its all a scam to make money.
